Chapter 1860: Frenemies

Be it the warriors of the Chaos Dragon Legion or the ladies who had come to attend to their sister, they were all left stunned, unsure of how to explain what had just happened.

Ruby and Meiko clearly hated each other from what they had seen. Something had happened between them, and Meiko had even admitted to killing Ruby’s friend, stepsister, and stepmother.

That alone, if nothing else, warranted Ruby tearing out her throat. However, from the look of things, that wouldn’t happen, for the two ladies were now hugging, and that was just too shocking.

The sheer amount of mental stress the ladies were feeling right now, as they tried to understand what had happened, was just too much.

Eventually, Unity asked, "What in the actual fuck is going on right now?"

Was she sad that the ladies weren’t at each other’s throats? No.

But was she confused about them hugging each other? The answer was yes, and that was plain as day, judging by the looks on everyone’s faces. Pandora, who had stopped them from gutting each other, now stood there with a lost expression.

She had sensed it and knew, deep within, that Ruby wanted to kill Meiko and that the latter also wanted to fight.

Maybe Meiko was unhinged, so that could be considered normal.

The difference between her and Kaizo was that she knew how to pick her opponents, unlike Kaizo, who just wanted to fight regardless of the strength of his opponent.

But Ruby wanted her dead.

Now, however, Pandora didn’t know what to think.

Soon, however, they were able to ask the questions that mattered when the two ladies broke the hug and stared daggers at each other.

"So are you two friends or enemies?" Vexthra asked, walking toward the two ladies...

Ruby smirked and answered, "Who wants to be friends with this vixen?"

"As if I had any plans to be friends with a demoness." Meiko fired back, leaving Vexthra unsure of what to ask next. She, however, managed to think of something else.

"So, do you ladies want to kill each other then?"

This time, too, Ruby was the first to answer. "I would love nothing more than that. However, considering the person she was with back then, killing her would put me in trouble, so she can keep her bitchy life for now."

"Oh please, as if you have what it takes to kill me." Meiko smirked and pointed her slender finger at Ruby. "Let’s go a few rounds and see if you can maintain your arrogance."

"Actually, Meiko, she can kill you in less than five seconds," Pandora said, causing Meiko to falter, her brow knitting as she turned to face Pandora.

"Big sister, what do you mean by she can kill me in less than five seconds? We are both Pseudo-Primordials."

Pandora smiled and brushed a few strands of crimson hair from Meiko’s face before saying, "Inasmuch as I would love to tell you that being a Pseudo-Primordial would save you, the lady standing there is very deadly.

You cannot see it because you aren’t paying close attention, but from what I can see, she has an incredibly solid foundation—so solid that killing you would be as simple as a single swing of her sword."

"This..." Meiko was left speechless, her expression faltering as she glared at Ruby, who wore a smug expression on her face...

"You... How come you are stronger than me now?" Meiko asked.

Ruby knew her chance to brag had come, and she took it. "Unlike you, who couldn’t handle a few bugs and died like a lizard, I fought to the end, killing as many Flame Demons as I could. After we managed to close the Flame Gate, I left for Amon’s Guillotine Cave, and for the last couple of eras, I have been tempering my swordsmanship there.

So while you’ve been dead, I have been training, waiting for the day I could get my hands on you again. Who knew you would turn out to be such a disappointment?"

Meiko gritted her teeth, not liking the fact that her frenemy had become more powerful than she was. Even more annoying, she now had to train and try to catch up to her.

"Damn it."

Ruby laughed, causing Meiko to glare hatefully at her...

"Relax, Meiko. Once Kent awakens your true name, you will gain the power to contend with her." Vexthra consoled her sister, who nodded but still hated the fact that Ruby, her rival back when they both served under the Nine Underworld Flame Blacksmith, was now stronger than her.

"I have to ask, though, how are you still alive? The last I heard, you died like a bug, so how are you standing before me now?" Ruby asked.

"How else, if not because of Fjorge?" Meiko replied, losing the enthusiasm and vigour she had displayed a few minutes ago.

Ruby, however, widened her eyes when she heard her reply. "Are you saying the Leader is still alive?"

"Yes. He is alive, just not available at the moment."

Ruby’s eyelids trembled for a few seconds, then tears started rolling down her face. "Leader is alive... He is alive."

"Yes, he is alive, bitch, and all of us are his wives." Meiko smirked. "Welcome to the tower."

She teleported away and appeared in one of the training halls. Now that she knew she was much weaker than Ruby, Meiko wanted to train and keep training until she caught up to her.

Ruby, however, was surrounded by some of Kent’s wives, knowing she needed attention right now. On the other hand, some of the ladies teleported to the Harem Tower with Safira’s still-passed-out body.

They bathed her and allowed her to rest for now. When she woke up, they would explain everything to her.

Kent still hadn’t woken up from the event that happened when he read the first page of the Chaos Ascension King Legacy Manual.

But he was closer to waking up.

Five days later, he woke up feeling as though his soul had been shredded and stitched back together again. It was the same feeling he had experienced when he read the name of the person whose very existence threatened existence itself.
