Quick Transmigration Cannon Fodder’s Record of Counterattacks
Chapter 3637: Ghosts Everywhere (9)
Ning Shu ran for her life toward the dormitory building. In her subconscious, the dorms were a safe place.
God knew where that subconscious feeling even came from.
The Xenomorphs saw new targets and split up to hunt their prey. One of them chased Ning Shu relentlessly.
Ning Shu gripped the bottle of Fengyou Essence tightly, but the medicated oil seemed to have lost its effectiveness.
The previous bottle must have been a fluke, something so powerful it was like an exploit or a bug in the system.
Of course, this place was riddled with bugs. The Fengyou Essence bug had been the most obvious one, and now it no longer existed.
Ning Shu looked at the dinosaur-like Xenomorph closing the distance and stopped running, prepared to let it kill her.
Go ahead and bite me to death, you bastard. Let’s see what you can do to me. I want to see what things look like when I wake up again.
The Xenomorph opened its massive maw and lunged at her. Suddenly, someone rushed over and tackled Ning Shu to the ground, causing the monster to miss its mark.
Ning Shu hit the ground so hard she felt like her bones were rattling. Then, she was dragged back onto her feet and forced to run again.
She looked over to see Song Mo. He was wearing a white turtleneck sweater and pulling her toward the dormitory.
Seeing its prey escape, the Xenomorph let out a furious roar. Its heavy footsteps made the ground tremble as it gave chase.
With the Xenomorph behind them and wandering zombies ahead, they were being squeezed from both sides.
Ning Shu finally snapped out of it. She had to survive this. If she was actually eaten by the Xenomorph this time, what would be waiting for her the next time she woke up?
Ning Shu began to run at high speed. At first, Song Mo had been dragging her along, but now the roles were reversed.
Song Mo looked a bit dazed as Ning Shu rested a hand on his shoulder to stabilize herself. She delivered a flying kick to a zombie blocking their path and then hauled Song Mo toward the girls’ dormitory.
The path was littered with severed limbs and viscera. Some of the internal organs were still steaming.
Ning Shu felt a wave of nausea. Since arriving in this world, she had realized that this place was either an illusion or a dreamscape. The original host, the entrustor, was likely in a bad state. Someone was trying to trap her in this horrifying place.
If Ning Shu didn’t possess such a resilient mind, she probably would have been driven insane by this torture already.
Based on her surroundings, everything here felt very real. This suggested the entrustor was a modern person, a university student. Even if they weren’t in campus anymore, they had certainly studied here.
Ning Shu’s head felt like it was going to explode from all the thinking. By the time they reached the dormitory, the main gates were already locked, and she couldn’t get inside.
Worse, a crowd of zombies was bunched up at the iron gates. They were trying to squeeze through the gaps in the bars, but it was proving difficult for them.
Damn it, what now?
The zombies who had been banging on the gate caught the scent of living humans. One by one, they turned their heads and began chasing Ning Shu and Song Mo.
Run!
Ning Shu and Song Mo sprinted through the campus like mad dogs. “We need to find a place to hide! we can’t keep running around like this. We’ll run out of strength, and it’s too dangerous.”
Ning Shu dragged Song Mo toward the campus laboratory building. The place was secluded, and she might be able to find some weapons there.
Song Mo felt a bit conflicted being dragged around by a girl a head shorter than him.
Ning Shu bent low as she hurried into the faculty office to find the keys, then she unlocked the laboratory.
The lab was huge, filled with various equipment, sinks, microscopes, and cutting tools.
Ning Shu quickly gathered the blades. She opened a cabinet to check for chemical reagents. Naturally, the university administrators had locked away anything truly dangerous, so all that remained were relatively harmless chemicals.
Ning Shu slumped onto the floor, panting heavily. She felt like her heart was about to burst.
She glanced at Song Mo sitting beside her. This guy really had a lot of screen time.
Ning Shu joked, “I didn’t expect you to be so tough. You usually look so weak.”
“It’s the pressure of survival. Under the threat of death, people can explode with several times their normal strength.” Song Mo was also gasping for air. His white turtleneck was now quite filthy.
Song Mo seemed to really like white turtlenecks. On the right person, a sweater like that looked artistic. On the wrong person, it looked like a total fashion disaster.
Song Mo’s aura was decent enough that he didn’t look like a disaster.
Ning Shu rubbed her head and asked, “What’s my major again?”
Many details were blurry. Although she had a sense of ‘self,’ the identity of the person she was inhabiting was very vague.
Song Mo looked at her in surprise. “Are you so scared that you’ve gone blank? You don’t even know what your major is?”
“Well, what classes was I taking?” Ning Shu asked.
Ning Shu quirked the corner of her mouth. “So, what am I studying?”
“Pharmacy,” Song Mo said.
“And you?” Ning Shu asked. “What are you majoring in?”
“Biopharmaceuticals,” Song Mo replied. Although he was puzzled by her questions, he answered honestly.
The two majors sounded similar enough, so it made sense for them to be in the same classroom listening to the same professor.
Ning Shu’s limbs felt weak. Her body couldn’t stop trembling, a side effect of overexerting her muscles.
The only sounds in the laboratory were the heavy breathing of Ning Shu and Song Mo. It was quiet, as the glass windows were insulating them from the sounds outside.
Drip. Drip. Drip…
The sound of water dripping echoed in the room.
Ning Shu and Song Mo locked eyes.
“Did you hear something?” she asked.
“I think so.”
Ning Shu stood up. She saw that every faucet in the lab was gushing a thick, bright red liquid that smelled putrid.
The liquid filled the sinks and began to overflow.
Ning Shu: …
Why was this stuff coming out, and who had turned on the faucets?
Was there a ghost in this room?
The red liquid was corrosive. It hissed as it ate into the surfaces, producing a toxic gas that made her head swim the moment she inhaled it.
The liquid began to flow toward them in waves. Ning Shu covered her nose and rushed to the door, only to find it wouldn’t open.
It was stuck!
The red liquid reached their feet, corroding their shoes. As the material hissed and dissolved, Ning Shu felt her soles burning with a searing pain.
Ning Shu pointed her finger, trying to see if she could use the water ordinance. It was completely useless. Yeah, in this distorted magnetic field and this world full of holes—ah, it didn’t even qualify as a real world… Where would ordinances come from?
“Argh!” Song Mo endured the pain of the corrosion and picked up a chair. He smashed it against the window. The glass shattered everywhere, and fresh air rushed in, slightly thinning the toxic gas.
Song Mo stood on a stool, climbed onto the windowsill, and reached back for Ning Shu. “Hurry, I’ll pull you up!”
Song Mo’s expression was frantic and somewhat distorted.
Meanwhile, all the red liquid in the room surged toward Ning Shu. Massive pillars of the fluid erupted and shot toward her…
