Ning Shu could no longer make sense of her current situation. Had she been in an illusion all along? Was she in a dream, or was it a dream within a dream?

These people could respawn infinitely, just like NPCs in a game. You could kill them this time, but the next time you showed up, they would be alive again. Only the scenario and the events would change.

Her brain felt like mush. She was experiencing a total sense of temporal and spatial disorientation.

Her body was incredibly exhausted. She felt as if she had been ‘cultivating toward immortality’ by staying awake for half a month straight without a wink of sleep. She felt like she was about to collapse.

Her head throbbed.

The pain made her feel as though she were dying.

Dammit!

Ning Shu pulled a bottle of water from her bag and gulped down half of it. Her heart was still hammering against her ribs.

“Shi Mei, your face is turning green. What’s wrong?” Song Mo asked.

“It’s nothing,” Ning Shu said. “I just didn’t get enough rest.”

She thought back to the dream where Song Mo had been sucked into a layer of skin by a giant mosquito. It had been horrifying. Seeing him now, perfectly fine and wearing a clean white sweater, looking fresh and warm, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of vertigo.

She felt like she was floating. It was a miserable sensation.

A surge of anger flared up in her heart. This was deliberate torture.

No one could withstand this kind of constant, terrifying stimulation.

Ning Shu brought the bottle of Fengyou Essence to her nose and inhaled. The cool scent made her head feel slightly better.

She was dizzy and faint. She felt as if she had heatstroke!

She knew that if she kept going like this, her body wouldn’t hold out much longer.

She felt hungry now—famished, in fact. She hadn’t eaten breakfast and had come straight to class after waking up. She recalled Song Mo giving her a hamburger, but that burger had seemed to be full of maggots.

Was that a dream or reality?

She could no longer tell.

Ning Shu secretly pulled some crackers out of her bag. As she chewed them, she realized they had no flavor. Her sense of taste was dull. She was so tired she had no appetite, and her senses were failing.

She didn’t want to eat, but her stomach was empty. As she forced the food down, her stomach began to cramp.

She felt like she was falling apart!

This was the most difficult problem she had ever faced. It seemed the entrustor was trapped in this consciousness, forced to repeat all sorts of stimulating and accidental events over and over. They were gruesome and bloody, intended to drive a person insane.

Ning Shu looked at her hands. Her skin had a greenish tint, her veins were prominent, and her fingers looked skeletal.

She had definitely lost weight. Most girls wanted to be thin, but not like this.

She was going to end up with serious psychological trauma.

After eating the crackers, Ning Shu’s stomach hurt even more. It was likely because she was too hungry, and her stomach couldn’t handle the food.

She was finally unable to bear it any longer. She raised her hand and said to the professor, “I need to use the restroom.”

The professor’s face darkened at the interruption, but seeing how terrible Ning Shu looked, she eventually gave her permission.

With her face contorted in pain, Ning Shu hurried to the restroom.

Once inside a stall, she squatted down. A thick, black-red liquid poured out of her. It was viscous and foul.

Ning Shu arched an eyebrow and wiped herself.

Oh, for God’s sake. I’m passing blood.

Something was definitely wrong with her internal organs. Was her body failing because of the extreme mental stress?

But she didn’t even have a physical body right now.

At most, she was a conscious entity of ‘self.’

Maybe it was just her period.

But then, the discharge came out like a flood, and a segment of her intestine even slipped out.

Ning Shu’s mind went blank. What the hell!?

It was getting more brutal every time!

She felt her consciousness beginning to blur. Was this another dream?

She pinched her arm, but her fingers went right through the skin. A mixture of water and black-red cadaveric fluid oozed out, carrying the stench of rotting flesh.

Ning Shu was stunned.

So, this body is a corpse?

Did I inhabit a dead body?

Hahaha!

She couldn’t help but let out a bitter chuckle. Her sense of spatial and temporal confusion grew even stronger.

This body was dead. She was dreaming that she was dead and her body was rotting!?

Was the exhaustion she felt earlier because her bodily functions had already ceased?

How interesting.

She wondered what would happen next.

Ning Shu wiped herself, pulled up her pants, and washed her hands.

The faint scent of a corpse lingered around her nose. She pulled at her collar and sniffed. Sure enough, there was the smell of rot.

Ning Shu looked at herself in the mirror. her face was deathly pale with a hint of green, and her lips were completely colorless. Wasn’t this exactly what a corpse looked like?

She didn’t know the cause, but she didn’t want to be treated like a monster. Some people were ‘walking aphrodisiacs,’ but she was a walking corpse.

Ning Shu pulled out a powder compact and began patting her face. Then, she applied some lipstick. She put powder and a bit of blush on her exposed skin, like her hands and arms, to make herself look a bit more flushed and healthy.

Being a corpse was a truly terrifying thing.

Ning Shu touched her chest. Her heart wasn’t beating. That earlier sensation of her heart hammering like a drum was gone.

Instead of going back to class, Ning Shu returned to the dormitory. She locked the door and scanned her body with her spiritual consciousness. Her internal organs had already begun to decay. She held her hand to her mouth and exhaled. When she sniffed, she smelled rot.

Before long, her sense of smell would likely vanish as well.

When her roommates returned from class and opened the door, they were hit by a foul odor.

They immediately covered their noses. “What is that?”

“Shi Mei, what did you do? Why does it smell so bad?” one of her roommates asked.

Ning Shu: …

Is it really that bad?

Clearly, her sense of smell had already failed significantly. She only caught a faint scent, but if her roommates found it unbearable, it must be putrid.

“Yeah, I’ve felt like there was a smell in the room for a while, but it’s especially bad today,” another roommate said while looking at Ning Shu. “Shi Mei, you aren’t playing some kind of prank, are you? It’s disgusting.”

Ning Shu opened the window to let the smell dissipate. Her three roommates were all very annoyed.

Ning Shu climbed into her bunk and pulled the quilt over herself, hoping to mask the scent.

In truth, it was useless. Covering her body with a quilt only accelerated the decay.

In her frustration, Ning Shu scratched her head, only to pull out a handful of hair. When the hair came away, it took a piece of her scalp with it. The piece of scalp was wet and foul-smelling.

She stuffed the hair under her bedding and pulled out her phone. She searched through her contacts, intending to call her parents.

Ning Shu’s only option now was to expand the dreamscape. She had been stuck on campus this whole time. If she introduced more people into this large world, the person weaving the dream would have a harder time. They would have to exert effort to render her parents as well.
