Chapter 3648: Ghosts Everywhere (20)
Satisfy her pride?
What the hell?
Ning Shu was stunned.
Wait, what!?
“What do you mean?” Ning Shu asked while blinking. “Just say what you want to say.”
Why was she always out of step with the rhythm here?
What was Song Mo trying to pull now?
He was a total magnet for trouble.
“You’ve been acting spooky lately, and you’re very impatient with me. Do you want to break up? It’s like I’m just an object to you—now that you have me, you don’t cherish me anymore,” Song Mo said with a frown, looking very displeased.
Ning Shu gave him a look.
“Are you okay?” He had been playing the poetic, sensitive type, and now he wanted to start an ugly fight? He sounded like a resentful girlfriend who felt neglected.
“What could be wrong with me?” Song Mo said. “Nothing is wrong.”
His face clearly said, ‘I have a problem, a huge problem. I’m dissatisfied, extremely dissatisfied…’
Ning Shu poured some water from her bottle and drank, smiling slightly. “Then what do you want to do?”
“What exactly am I to you?” Song Mo asked as he watched her drink. “What am I?”
Ning Shu replied, “Uh, a boyfriend.”
“When you pursued me, you were so passionate. I only exist to make you look good, so others can see how handsome and great your boyfriend is,” Song Mo said.
Ning Shu: You’re just here to brag about yourself, aren’t you?
“I hate this version of you the most right now, acting like you don’t care about anything. Am I your boyfriend or not?” Seeing her calm demeanor, a fire of unspeakable anger burned in his heart.
“Did I really pursue you?” Ning Shu asked. In this dreamscape, everything was fake.
Was Song Mo real or fake?
“You were the one who pursued me! I’m a human being, and I can feel your coldness and distance.” Song Mo glared at her. “What do you actually take me for?”
Ning Shu answered, “A skeleton. A skeletal frame.”
Song Mo was confused.
Ning Shu was currently trying to figure out how to leave this hellhole. She didn’t have time to argue with him about who loved whom or what she took him for.
“See? See! I hate this mysterious expression of yours, like none of this matters,” Song Mo said, suppressed anger in his voice.
Ning Shu hummed and reached out to grab his collar. “What’s your point?”
“Then let’s break up!” Song Mo declared. “I don’t want to be a tool for your vanity.”
Ning Shu gave him another look.
Oh, for Heaven’s sake, who was being vain?
She hadn’t been dragging him around to flaunt their relationship or posting couple selfies to show off how handsome her boyfriend was. She didn’t have time for vanity!
“Fine, let’s break up.” Ning Shu couldn’t be bothered to argue. She didn’t want to be in a relationship with him anyway, and none of this was real.
“You…” Song Mo’s nostrils flared with rage. “Shi Mei, is your heart made of stone? Are you really this cold-blooded?”
“How am I cold-blooded? Just because I’m not crying and begging you to stay, or apologizing, or acting the way you expected? That makes me cold-blooded?”
You’re clearly just here to pull some nonsense.
Song Mo’s face turned red with anger. “You…”
He pushed her and pinned her against the window. If he used a little more force, he would push her out.
Ning Shu tilted her head to look outside.
Damn, Song Mo is trying to kill me again.
“Shi Mei, do you even have me in your heart?” Song Mo pressed his arm against her neck. “You hateful woman.”
Even as she was about to be pushed out the window, Ning Shu’s heart remained calm.
Pain, fear, struggle, resentment, despair—she had experienced it all. This illusion seemed designed to force someone through these emotions until they completely collapsed.
Ning Shu reached out and grabbed his collar with one hand while patting his face with the other. “If I’m dying, we’re dying together.”
Birth, old age, sickness, death, meeting those you hate, being separated from those you love, failing to get what you want—the flourishing of the Five Aggregates.
Hunger, cold, heat, embarrassment, tears, sadness—the impact of these negative feelings and emotions was called the Suffering of the Flourishing Five Aggregates.
Ning Shu had experienced nearly all of them.
“Shi Mei…” Song Mo’s face trembled as he spoke in a low voice. “With that casual attitude of yours… Did you ever even love me? I was serious. Did you ever love me?”
His eyes were red. Ning Shu was stunned for a moment before saying, “You aren’t real.”
“What do you mean I’m not real? Shi Mei, stop talking nonsense!” Song Mo roared in fury, his eyes rimmed with red. He looked exactly like a boy whose heart had been broken.
Ning Shu: …
Heaven and earth be my witness!
When had she ever been deeply in love with him?
Buddy, you stabbed me in the chest last time, and now you want to talk about love?
‘Exhausted’ doesn’t even begin to cover it.
“Why are you hesitating? Just say it! I knew it—how you feel about me is exactly what your roommate told me. You just treat me like a pretty accessory. When you need me, I’m your boyfriend. When you don’t, I’m not even supposed to show up.” Song Mo wept as he made his accusation.
Ning Shu was truly baffled.
You’re the only one acting here; I don’t feel a thing!
They didn’t have an earth-shattering love, no beautiful memories, and no chemistry. No matter how passionately he yelled, she felt nothing.
Looking at his high-effort performance, she almost felt tired for him.
“Are you really okay?”
Did you hallucinate all of this?
Song Mo used his elbow to press against her neck, applying more force. Her body leaned back further.
If she fell from here, it would be a gruesome death. She glanced down. It was quite high.
Every death was real. Every pain was real.
“What could be wrong with me?” Song Mo sneered. “Shi Mei, you vain woman.
“Just die!”
Driven by humiliation and a surge of resentment and despair, Song Mo shoved her out of the window with all his might.
Ning Shu gripped his collar tightly and dragged him out with her. She was quick enough to grab the window frame with one hand, but Song Mo was flung out.
Song Mo looked at her with an expression of profound sadness. Then, with a loud thud, his body hit the ground. A pool of blood spread out from beneath him, and he lay there, unable to move.
“Someone jumped! Someone jumped!” screams erupted from below.
Ning Shu felt weak all over. She sat on the floor, gasping for air.
She clutched her chest, feeling like her heart was about to leap out of her throat. She felt as if she were about to faint.
The sensation was too real. It was as if a vibrant life had truly vanished right before her eyes.
But what else was she supposed to do? Was she supposed to just let him push her out?
Death was a very real sensation.
