Chapter 244: Ch 243: The Right to Attack

It turned out that sneaking a dragon into the camp was far easier than Kael expected.

No one asked him any questions about the bundle he had brought back, and Kael held the small dragon in his tent before he started to clean its tiny body.

The dragon protested against being touched, but its small body was not able to withstand the pressure Kael and Seraphina were exerting, and soon lowered its head in submission. It was a given that the dragon would do this since dragons tended to submit to power.

It took another hour for the dragon to recover enough to realize where it was, and Kael broke some of the curse the dragon was under so it could speak.

The tiny dragon tried to find its voice before realizing that she could speak. And once she did, she was quick to speak up.

"Where am I, and who are you people? I will burn down this place if you do not answer me within 1 minute."

It was a threat that might have worked on most people. But Kael was not most people, and he was not intimidated by the dragon. Neither was Seraphina, because she chose to grab the dragon and swing her around a few times to knock some sense into her.

The small dragon was dizzy enough that she forgot what she had even wanted to say.

"Please pardon my dear student and her actions. Now, would you mind telling us what you are doing here?"

Kael asked the dragon, and she looked scared of him at first. But she slowly started to open up to him and told him what was going on in dragon territory.

"Someone is taking advantage of the Dragon Lord’s current obsession with being the strongest and manipulating him into attacking other territories, claiming that it is a campaign against corruption. I tried to stop it, but I got attacked on my way out. The next thing I knew, I was cursed to be like this."

There was magical interference affecting the dragon, but it seemed like she had lost her memories as well. It was a sad combination of circumstances for her.

However, Kael did not like seeing the dragon so down. It made him feel like he was holding a fragile toddler, and that made him uncomfortable.

"Well, thank you for the information. Can you tell us how we can meet the Dragon Lord to propose a truce? Since we are both fighting to prevent corruption from spreading, I feel like we can cooperate for once."

Kael pointed out, and the dragon looked genuinely touched by his suggestion. Her eyes lit up with the desire to tell him everything.

But when she opened her mouth, no voice came out, and she hesitated to say anything. There was only one reason behind this.

"I...don’t think it’s a good idea for you to speak to my brother. He is too stubborn and simple-minded to understand that we need to cooperate to drive back the darkness. He is determined to drive it out alone."

The female dragon sounded bitter when she said these words, which likely meant that she had tried to get her brother to give up on his desire for revenge more than once without success.

Kael felt sorry for her, but unfortunately, he could not take her words at face value without having a talk with the current Dragon King.

"I see. Then, can you at least guide us to the current Dragon King? Maybe we can talk to him and change his mind? In return, I will break the curse on you, and you can go back to your normal life."

Kael proposed, and the dragon looked startled by his words. She hesitated before deciding that there was no harm in trying.

Her brother was a simple-minded fool, and if you were able to figure that out, then it was easy to manipulate him.

Besides, she had a feeling these humans would have no problem breaking into the dragons’ territory if they wanted to. Their auras were too strong, and they looked ready to attack the settlement as well.

Sigh

"Fine. I might as well cooperate right now and prevent myself from incurring a headache later. I will tell you all you need to know about my brother and how you can deal with him. So you better listen carefully because I will not repeat these words."

The dragon told Kael as she started speaking. And she had a lot she needed to say.

Kael listened carefully to what the dragon had to say before committing it all to memory. By the time the dragon finished speaking, Kael had acquired all the knowledge he needed in order to manipulate the Dragon King.

Unfortunately, he was not the only one who could manipulate the Dragon King. And as it was often said—the first one to strike often claimed victory.

And this time, that person was Lady Lumi.

"I am back, my lord. And this time, I have brought you a special gift."

The human female was back, which irritated the Dragon King. He did not want to see her, especially when his sister had disappeared. He was far too busy trying to find that runaway dragon to pay attention to a puny human.

"Go back! I have no time for a human like you."

The Dragon King roared before he closed his eyes, intending to ignore Lumi. But Lumi had no intention of being ignored.

"My lord! Are you worried about your sister? Would you like to know where she is?"

Lumi asked, and she noticed how the Dragon King narrowed his eyes at her. He seemed interested, but he was pretending not to be.

It made Lumi smile before she began her approach. She was confident she could make the other side listen to her this time.

"I can help you find your sister, my lord. All it would require is your permission and for you to hear me out."
