Kael’s empty body lay on the ground. He and everyone else who had fallen under the spell had been preserved with a spell. But that spell wouldn’t last forever.

“We will need to find a way to cultivate more flowers quickly. Since Kael asked us for help, let’s do what we can to help him.”

Seraphina pointed out. But even she was hesitant about what path they should take.

After all, no matter how much they wanted to hold back the flow of a god’s power, they were only humans and could only do so much.

But not everything was lost. They still had one last trump card left in their grasp.

“I think it is time for us to make use of Goddess Aria’s power. She is the only one who can help us right now.”

Seraphina’s words were followed by a deadly silence before Iris reacted.

“No way! We cannot do that. Don’t you recall how hard Kael worked to keep her at bay and to free us? We cannot allow all his hard work to go down the drain—”

“But if we don’t do anything soon, then this world and Kael’s body will be gone as well. I would much rather surrender myself to a hateful goddess than see Kael die.”

Seraphina pointed out, and Lyra bit her lip in agitation before she nodded as well.

“I think we should get Goddess Aria’s help as well. She might be an asshole, but she is still a part of us, right? I have a feeling she will agree to help if it is about Kael.”

Lyra pointed out, but even she looked unsure.

It was not an easy decision to make, and in the end, even Leon decided to advise the three.

“It’s your decision this time. As much as I don’t want to agree with letting Goddess Aria out, it does not seem like we have a choice either. Do you want me to negotiate?”

Leon asked, causing Seraphina to shake her head.

“No. I think we should be the ones to negotiate. After all, it is our body and our decision. We should make the final decision as well.”

Seraphina was determined to pay any price, and Lyra looked the same. In the end, Iris also came around, and they began preparing for the final negotiation of their lives.

“Hey, do you mind if I take some time to leave a message behind for Kael? This is a precaution, just in case I am not able to make it back alive. I don’t want him to think that his girlfriend abandoned him.”

Lyra spoke in a soft and teasing voice, but she was doing her best to hold back her emotions at this point.

Leon and Elena did not ask what she meant by this. They already had a feeling that the three in front of them wouldn’t return the same as they were before.

After all, the goddess’s power inside them was divine, so to be able to use it all, they would have to use a considerable amount of strength and also combine their souls.

It was a huge sacrifice that no individual soul should have to make.

And yet, they were willing to do it for Kael’s sake.

“Hey, don’t look so down. It will only take us a minute. And then, we will be back.”

…

Kael headed toward the pillar of light that connected the human world to the dungeons. And once again, he could see the tree that governed the magic in this world.

That tree was the essence of the god that had once taken care of this world and was now dead. And Kael had a feeling that heading there would give him the answers needed to return this world to normal.

So he followed the other souls toward that bright light.

It was likely a passage to the truth, but heading in there had a chance to get his soul shredded to pieces. So he needed to be careful while entering the stream.

He warped magic around him as protection until he felt like he could handle the turbulence of the magic inside that stream. And he reached the pillar before entering it slowly.

The light burned his body, causing Kael to flinch. But he knew that he could not step back.

So he slowly kept taking steps further and further until the light of the pillar swallowed him whole.

His whole body burned, almost as if the light was trying to reform his whole soul and body. But he kept fighting to get to the other side.

And when he finally reached the inner part of the light, it was nothing like the outside.

The world was tinted red outside, with monsters roaming around and looking for their prey. But the inside of this light was calm and cool… even serene.

Kael felt like he could close his eyes and fall asleep. The shapeless souls that were walking past him started to gain more solid forms as they walked into the garden.

Their eyes looked glazed over, almost as if they had no idea where they were or what they were doing. All that existed in the minds of these souls was their existence and the need to have fun.

Families, lovers, even siblings—every soul had someone they could associate with. But Kael, who was covered with his magic, remained alone and walked deeper toward the centre of the garden.

He quickly looked around for a way out, but there was none, and walking back into the light was also not possible.

“What is this place?”

He asked, but immediately stopped speaking, even though everyone turned to look at him like he was a pest. It was a warning sign that he was not supposed to say anything here.

Kael went quiet once more, and the smiles returned to the people’s faces. This was a place of silence and souls. And here, he was all alone, surrounded by his enemies.
