Isla Lane repeatedly emphasized that there’s no need to thank family, which made Thomas Fisher extremely uncomfortable, yet Benjamin Shaw particularly enjoyed hearing it.

He found it odd; the words he least wanted to hear five years ago, now seemed extremely beautiful.

Alice Turner was thinking about other things and didn’t pay much attention to what Isla Lane said. Her expression was calm, with no emotional fluctuations.

Seeing her so calm, Benjamin Shaw and Isla Lane both concluded that she didn’t oppose the notion of family, but whether she accepted it would need further observation.

Alice Turner being pulled away by Isla Lane from his side made Thomas Fisher already very uncomfortable, and now since she didn’t counter Isla Lane’s notion of ’family’, he felt even more despondent.

Even though Thomas Fisher was on the brink of collapse inside, he tried to maintain a calm exterior, knowing he couldn’t act out in this setting.

"Mom! Let’s go home and get some daily necessities for Ben," Charlotte Shaw walked up and linked arms with Isla Lane. Isla Lane wanted to refuse, thinking Charlotte could go back alone, but then turned to see her own daughter winking at her.

A mother knows her daughter best!

With just one glance, Isla Lane realized Charlotte Shaw’s true intention and nodded immediately: "Alright."

"Alice! You stay here and look after Ben for me while your sister and I go get some things."

With a meaningful pat on Alice Turner’s shoulder, she turned to walk out of the ward with Charlotte Shaw.

"Hey, Dad! We’ve got quite a few things to grab, why don’t you give us a hand?" Right by the ward’s exit, Isla Lane suddenly turned and called out to Alexander Shaw.

That old fool—can’t he see their son needs space for some quality time with Alice?

Just as Charlotte Shaw and Isla Lane were about to leave, Alexander Shaw genuinely thought they were merely going to get things.

Hearing Isla Lane call him, he instantly realized their motives were not so innocent.

"Alright."

Alexander Shaw saw through the mother-daughter duo’s intentions, but he didn’t expose them. He responded, stepping toward them unhurriedly.

Seeing how cooperative her husband was, Isla Lane breathed a sigh of relief but then, looking at Thomas Fisher, she didn’t feel so easy.

She wanted to send him away too, but couldn’t find an excuse or reason to do so.

Isla Lane forgot she still had her daughter, Charlotte Shaw, who spoke up before she could think of something to say, "Thomas! Didn’t Alice just ask you to book Anthony’s flight? You should hurry up and go."

Book a flight?!

Who is she booking a flight for?

Isla Lane was full of doubts but seeing Charlotte so composed, she knew everything was fine and didn’t voice her concerns.

She’d ask later, as she saw her daughter often, but the time her son and daughter-in-law shared alone was scarce.

"You go ahead and get the things. I’ll wait for you to return before I leave. Alice can’t handle looking after him on her own." From the beginning, Thomas Fisher had already figured out Isla Lane and Charlotte Shaw’s intentions.

They wanted to send him away—no chance! His fiancée was still here, he wouldn’t go anywhere.

Besides, his third brother is a man; it’s inconvenient for a girl to take care of him, and they weren’t husband and wife anymore.
