Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1574: Your Opinion Matters to Me
Autumn York clung stubbornly to the matter, causing Alice Turner some headache. So she simply told the person on the other end of the phone about her resignation, "Auntie! I’m only going to the Derry Kingdom this time to quit my job. As soon as I resign, I’ll come back with Thomas."
When Alice said these words, she hadn’t noticed Anthony standing not far away. Because of what she said, his expression became quite unpleasant.
"Resign?! Aren’t you already the general manager at that company? You’re doing well, so why resign?" Upon knowing Alice was back, Autumn York had someone investigate Alice’s situation. She learned that Alice had climbed to the general manager position in just five years, and she admired this young woman greatly.
Autumn York always knew Alice was very capable, and had felt all along that Alice serving as a sales manager was a bit beneath her talents.
She had, more than once, inwardly scorned Alice’s boss, blaming him for not appreciating talent.
Now, this company’s boss has good vision and recognized her as an exceptional talent, but Alice is dissatisfied and wants to resign despite doing well.
Autumn York indeed understood why Alice wanted to resign; she just couldn’t comprehend it. She couldn’t understand why Alice would resign.
In her eyes, Alice was just like her, a career-oriented strong woman who wouldn’t quit her job to be a full-time wife for some man; she thought that was simply a waste.
Alice listened carefully. Autumn York asked why she would resign when doing well, not why would she resign. And Alice sensed some disappointment in Autumn’s tone.
This future mother-in-law was disappointed in her because of her resignation.
"I want to develop my career back home. If what you said to me five years ago still stands, I want..."
"You mean you want to work at Zhi Yuan?"
"Yes! I want to work with Thomas."
Alice intended this all along—that after returning from Derry Kingdom, she would not apply to any other company but work for Thomas Fisher.
Hearing Alice wanting to work at the company made Autumn York feel excited, but hearing her last sentence made that excitement fade.
"Auntie! I want to work with Thomas. Do you agree?"
The person on the other end of the line didn’t speak for a long time, prompting Alice to speak again, this time directly.
Autumn York responded with a question: "Is my opinion that important to you?"
She thought it wasn’t important. If it mattered, Alice wouldn’t have flatly rejected her offer to work at her company five years ago.
Now she suddenly wants to work at the company, which apparently has nothing to do with her.
"Your opinion is important to me. If you don’t agree, I certainly won’t work at the company," Alice very much wanted to work with Thomas, but she couldn’t ignore his mother’s opinion, whether it was for business or personal matters, she couldn’t overlook this mother-in-law.
Through the phone, Autumn York heard that Alice wasn’t placating her, nor was she joking.
This truly put her in a difficult position. She didn’t want to lose this rare talent, but she didn’t want to compromise either. If she compromised this time, stopping her son from being with Alice would be incredibly difficult.
"If I tell you that the only condition to work at the company is to break up with Thomas, would you still choose to work?" Autumn York pushed the difficult question back to Alice, and after doing so, she strained her ears, quietly waiting for Alice’s response.
