Chapter 1575: Are We Telepathically Connected?

"I’m not going to break up with Thomas."

Alice Turner didn’t hesitate for even a second. She answered the difficult question Autumn York had thrown at her straight away.

Five years ago when she chose to leave him, it was because she didn’t want to put him in a tough spot, and even more because she didn’t want him to feel embarrassed by her status as a divorcée.

But what she never expected was that he would be so stubbornly devoted to her. Five years—long if you say long, short if you say short—yet he still held on to that one heart for her.

She didn’t want him to be hurt and sad anymore, and she didn’t want to miss out on him again.

Autumn York wasn’t surprised by this answer at all; she just felt a headache coming on. With both of them holding such firm attitudes, her hope of splitting them up was now very slim.

"Didn’t you say my opinion mattered a lot? Now I’m telling you to break up with Thomas, but you’re refusing. Were you just messing with me earlier?" The words sounded gentle on the surface, but savoring them carefully, they were razor sharp.

"Whether I join the company or not, I can listen to your opinion, Auntie. But when it comes to breaking up with Thomas or not, I want to follow what I feel in my heart." Alice Turner’s attitude was neither servile nor overbearing, her emotions neither delighted nor angry, and her tone neither overly warm nor cold.

Autumn York was choked by Alice Turner’s words, left speechless for quite a while. When she finally recovered, she said at once, "Benjamin got hurt and ended up in the hospital because of you. I think you ought to go take better care of him."

The subtext of that was: Benjamin Shaw was injured because of you, so you owe him for that.

"Benjamin Sh—"

"Don’t bother explaining anything to me. If you’ve got time to talk, you’d better hurry over to the hospital. Don’t let Benjamin end up with a broken body and a broken heart."

Alice Turner really did want to explain something, but before she could even finish saying Benjamin Shaw’s name, Autumn York cut her off, utterly unceremonious.

Once Autumn York finished speaking, she didn’t care whether Alice Turner would be angry or whether Alice still had anything to say. She just hung up the phone.

Beep!

With the beeping in her ear, Alice Turner realized Autumn York had already hung up. She let out a deep sigh and lowered the phone from her ear.

At the very instant Alice Turner moved the phone away, Anthony, who had been standing not far off, quickly headed back to the dining room. By the time she turned around, he had already walked in.

Because of that phone call from Autumn York just now, Alice Turner’s mood had become particularly heavy. In this state, she really wasn’t in any shape to go back and eat with everyone.

She put her phone away and walked out of the house. She needed to go outside and get some air to ease up a bit, otherwise she felt like she’d suffocate herself into depression.

Beep beep beep!

Alice Turner had just stepped into the courtyard, ready to really take a good breath of fresh air, when she heard a car horn sounding from the gate.

She instinctively lifted her head and followed the sound with her eyes, and what came into view was a car she knew all too well.

Screech!

Seeing Alice Turner looking his way, Thomas Fisher immediately stopped the car. After parking, he got out and quickly walked toward her.

"Are we like totally in sync or what? I just got here, and you came out to greet me."

Once he was close, he reached out and took her hand.

"Of course we’re in sync. Otherwise how could the timing line up this perfectly?"

The moment she saw Thomas Fisher, all the dark clouds in Alice Turner’s heart instantly scattered, and a bright smile bloomed on her face.

Thomas Fisher watched Alice Turner without making a big deal of it. What he’d just said had been purely a joke, but she played right along with him.

Not normal. This was way too not normal.
