She didn’t know that Anthony’s phone was left in Benjamin Shaw’s car and thought he had actually talked to his dad.

"Just now."

Anthony hadn’t actually talked to his dad on the phone because his phone wasn’t on him at the moment. If he remembered correctly, he accidentally left his phone in Benjamin Shaw’s car at noon.

He needed to figure out a way to call Mr. Shaw later to get his phone back. Mr. Shaw must not have noticed there was a phone left on the car, otherwise, he would have returned it to him already.

Alice Turner took it as true because Anthony’s expression was very serious and grave, a seriousness and gravity she had never seen before.

"Did the boss really agree to let me leave?"
