Chapter 1582: Every Word You Say Sounds So Wonderful

  • Next Chapter

As soon as Lily Turner finished speaking, Easton Holmes glanced over at Thomas Fisher with a clearly annoyed face. "You full yet?"

If you’re full, then hurry up and get the hell out!

He didn’t say the rest out loud, but he knew his buddy would get the message.

"Not yet, but almost."

Of course Thomas picked up on his big bro’s subtext, but he didn’t lower his head and continue eating right away. He looked at him, hoping his big bro would leave for a bit so he could have some time alone with Alice.

The same way Thomas could hear Easton’s underlying meaning, Easton also heard his. Easton gave him a long look, then pulled his wife up to her feet. "Babe, let’s go back to the room and talk about something."

With that, not waiting for his wife’s reaction, he dragged her away from the table and out of the dining room.

"I..."

Lily wanted to refuse, but before she could get the words out, Easton scooped her up in his arms. Then, ignoring her struggles and protests, he strode upstairs with her.

Right after Easton and Lily left, Grace Young also stood up and left the dining room. She went to the living room to play with Anthony, Rosie Thompson, and Evie, leaving the space to Thomas Fisher and Alice Turner.

"Alice, I know my mom just called you. I’m sure she said a lot of nasty things. Don’t pay attention to what she says—she’s only like that because she’s going through menopause." Thomas got up and pulled his chair closer to Alice, then reached out to hold her hand, his expression serious and solemn.

Thomas knowing about his mom’s call didn’t surprise Alice in the slightest. What she felt now was only worry. She turned her hand over to hold his in return. "Did you argue with Auntie because of me? Listen, Auntie is your mom. Whatever she says or does, it’s because she wants what’s best for you. Don’t start having resentment toward her."

"Even if she wants what’s best for me, she can’t go around sabotaging me like that."

He’d finally managed to win her back, and now his mom was trying to push her away from him. How did he end up with a mom like this?

Good thing Alice was so understanding, or his life would be miserable.

Thinking about how lucky he was to have met such a good woman, Thomas felt touched and genuinely happy. He squeezed Alice Turner’s hand a little tighter, wrapping her hand firmly in his own.

Alice Turner tilted her head and leaned against Thomas’s shoulder. Her gaze fell on the bowl and chopsticks in front of him as she spoke softly, "Auntie might be trying to sabotage you, but I’m not that stupid, okay? I know who loves me. It’s enough that I love who I love."

"From now on, don’t argue with Auntie anymore. Doing that doesn’t help me—it just makes me look bad."

After she finished, she didn’t hear him say anything for a long while. She raised her hand and lightly patted his arm. "I’m talking to you. Did you hear me?"

"What you said was so sweet it left me dumbstruck." Thomas sounded like he was joking, but he was completely serious.

There was no way Alice couldn’t hear the sincerity in his words, but she still laughed and scolded him, "All you know how to do is run your mouth."

"How am I running my mouth? Every word I say is the truth." Thomas lowered his head to kiss Alice on the forehead, the corners of his lips lifting. "Every word you say is so beautiful. My ears are really in for a treat from now on."

"Thomas Fisher, you’re such a jerk. You think that sounds beautiful too?"

Alice Turner tilted her head to look at him, a mischievous smile on her face.
