RE: LORD OF TIME

Chapter 142: Heart Devourer (Part 2)

  • Next Chapter

When Vivian had told William about the benefits of the Eternal Blood Pact, the thing he had wished for at that time was to obtain one of Vivian’s special bloodline abilities—Mind Suggestion.

It was precisely the ability that she had used to send Lucas to Rosco Barony.

This ability was very simple. As long as your mental strength was superior to the target’s and their willpower wasn’t strong enough, you could hypnotize them into doing things that you suggested without them realizing anything.

Just like how Vivian had hypnotized Lucas into going to Rosco Barony seemingly out of nowhere, and that guy didn’t find anything strange about it.

He didn’t even consider why he had gone to Rosco Barony when he had no reason to go there in the first place.

However, the ability William received from Vivian after their Blood Pact was Blood Manipulation, which was assimilated into the Blood Manipulation skill he had received from his Origin Grade Vampire Bloodline.

Although he didn’t receive the Mind Suggestion ability he had wanted, William wasn’t disappointed.

It was because, through his Bloodline Memories, he had obtained an ability similar to Mind Suggestion, but far more powerful.

The name of the ability was Heart Devourer.

With the help of this ability, William could use Mind Suggestion, and once a person fell under the effect of his Mind Suggestion, a seed of darkness would be born inside their heart.

The longer a person stayed under the effect of his Mind Suggestion, the stronger the seed of darkness would become.

Once it reached a certain level, William could even detonate it, destroying the target’s heart and killing them.

Another effect of the Heart Devourer ability was that it made its wielder extremely sensitive to people’s emotions, making it easier for them to manipulate those emotions.

And just now, the moment William entered the classroom, he noticed two emotions that were vastly different from the emotions he could sense from the others.

Most of the students in the class did not have any particularly eye catching emotions towards him.

Most of them were jealousy, envy, and disdain, while a few were admiration, which mostly came from the commoner students.

But the most eye-catching emotions came from Edrin and Maya.

Both of their emotions were filled with incredible malice.

Edrin was understandable since William had ruined his reputation. But Maya’s malice was in no way weaker than his, making William feel confused as to why she held such hostility toward him.

The only thing he could think of was yesterday’s rejection when he refused to join her family. Though, if that was the reason, then she was really a petty brat.

Although he was a bit surprised by such strong malice from them, William didn’t care about it because after sensing their malice, he realized a crucial fact that he had missed before.

Because of his strength and Vivian’s actions behind the scenes, these two people couldn’t do anything to him.

Since they couldn’t do anything to him but still wanted to get back at him, what would they do?

Of course, they would target the people close to him.

And the only person who was currently close to William in the academy was Liam.

’The reason behind the future Eva saw must be related to this.’

William tried to ask Eva about his guess, but she didn’t respond.

However, her silence further confirmed his guess because if he was wrong, she would have simply refuted him.

Killing intent flashed in William’s eyes as he seriously considered erasing the problem from its roots.

But remembering that both of them were from Duke Families and weren’t someone like Lucas, he held his emotions back and tried to remain calm.

Maya and Edrin, both of whom were lost in their own thoughts suddenly felt a chill run down their spines, as if they were being watched by something terrifying.

They looked around and saw William looking at them indifferently.

His gaze remained on them for only a moment, but cold sweat couldn’t help but appear on their foreheads, their hearts beating wildly for some reason.

William silently followed Liam and took his seat, greeting Noah, who was in a good mood after accomplishing his task of recruiting William into the student council.

’Now that I know the root of the problem, I just have to pay attention and avoid it.’

William took a deep breath, and a plan slowly formed in his mind.

Soon after, Professor Norman entered the class.

Although he called himself their homeroom professor, in reality, there was nothing like a homeroom professor because he was the single professor in charge of all of their Class A classes, including the combat class that would be held a few days later.

Seeing that Professor Norman was about to start the class without beating around the bush, William stood up.

"Professor, I want to take a leave for a few days to handle some personal business."

Norman felt irritated when he heard that someone wanted to take leave, but seeing that it was William, he paused for a moment before speaking with a frown.

"You want to skip the Universal Language classes? If you don’t know Universal Language, you won’t be able to take tasks related to Rifts in the future since you will often come into contact with different races during those tasks."

"I already know Universal Language, Professor."

A look of surprise flashed in Norman’s eyes when William suddenly spoke in Universal Language.

Seeing his surprise, William continued.

"I have already mastered it, so this class is useless to me."

Seeing William speak in such fluent Universal Language, Norman’s mouth twitched slightly.

’Did he learn it from that woman?’ He thought inwardly.

"Since you already know Universal Language, then why did you even bother to come here?"

William smiled sheepishly and spoke.

"There is actually something I need your help with."

Norman immediately waved his hand and spoke in a matter-of-fact voice.

"Don’t bother. I am a bastard through and through, and I don’t like helping others."

William was speechless when he saw Norman’s reaction and spoke in a helpless voice.

"It’s because you are our class professor, and only you can help me with this matter. It’s not a big deal. I just need your signature."

Hearing William’s words, a look of interest finally appeared on Norman’s face.

"Speak. What do you need my help with?"

William walked out of the classroom and signaled Norman to follow him.

Norman and the other students felt speechless, rolling their eyes at his cautiousness.

Though speechless, Norman still followed him outside.

"Speak quickly. I still need to catch up on my beauty sleep after finishing this damn class."

William didn’t beat around the bush and took out a letter.

"I need your signature on this letter."

Norman took the letter and asked in confusion.

"What’s written inside the letter?"

"Nothing important," William spoke in a nonchalant tone. "It just states that you have allowed me to accept a High-Level D-Rank Task."

Hearing William’s words, Norman’s hands paused, and he nearly slapped William into the ground.

"Are you out of your mind?"
