Chapter 500 - 195: Destroying Heaven and Earth, Directly Annihilating a 10,000-Li Region

One hundred ten Hearts of the City in total! With this many, I can build two more Neutral Cities! I could also upgrade five medium-sized cities to large-sized ones, or upgrade all of Great Xia’s small cities to medium-sized!

Shen Fei mused as he looked over the items he’d harvested in his inventory after clearing out the cities in this special region. From this snow-covered area, he had ultimately reaped 110 Hearts of the City. This item, which could only be obtained when a city was destroyed, was the only way to build new cities after the Version 4.3 update. However, no one went around destroying cities just to obtain them. This was because building a small city required 50 Hearts of the City, while destroying one yielded only a single Heart. With such a 50-to-1 disparity, no one would undertake such a thankless task.

Of course, there were always exceptions, and that exception had just arrived. Shen Fei had, in fact, done exactly that thankless task. He had razed every single Neutral City in this special region, large and small.

Looking at the Hearts of the City in his inventory, Shen Fei’s first thought was to build new, small Neutral Cities. Although upgrading a medium-sized city to a large one only required 20 Hearts of the City, while building a new small city took a full 50, Shen Fei still intended to build new ones. He wanted to drive the Neutral Cities into the soil of Great Xia like "nails," one by one. The more Shen Fei learned about Neutral Cities, the more he realized their importance.

Previously, during the full rollout of Version 4.3, he had ended up going to Japanese territory for various reasons and obtained the Divine Artifact, the [Nine-Phase Divine Bottle]. As a result, while the number of Neutral Cities within Great Xia’s borders was several times that of other nations, the total count wasn’t actually that high. Now that he had this opportunity, the idea of obtaining even more Hearts of the City immediately formed in Shen Fei’s mind. He had just destroyed those cities because of a mandatory quest from his quest panel, but now, if necessary, he would continue to destroy cities! Of course, he would only destroy the cities in special regions that belonged to Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses.

After quickly reviewing the hundred-plus Hearts of the City in his inventory and briefly considering how to use them, Shen Fei’s gaze fell upon two other items:

City Energy x11,000! Energy Crystals x230!

By destroying the Neutral Cities, he had also obtained a great deal of City Energy and many Energy Crystals. These two items were also extremely important for Neutral Cities, especially the Energy Crystals. This crystal-like, solidified energy could not only replenish a Neutral City’s special energy, but it could also be used to recharge National Treasure Divine Artifacts.

For example, the [Nine-Phase Divine Bottle] in Shen Fei’s possession had a [Long-range Teleportation] ability with a limited number of uses. Once those uses were depleted, it needed to absorb energy to recharge. Originally, Shen Fei had planned to go to Japan to recharge it. However, between being busy with various things and the extreme distance, he hadn’t yet had a chance to go. Now, with over two hundred Energy Crystals in his inventory, he could restore the uses of his [Long-range Teleportation] ability to the full 5/5 whenever he wanted.

It took less than three seconds for Shen Fei to scan all the new items in his inventory. Then, without a second’s hesitation, he deployed a Detection Tower, his vision following it as it swept over the remaining Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses, who were filled with a mix of terror, disbelief, and shock at having lost their homes.

As Shen Fei uprooted every Neutral City in the entire special region, nearly half of the Intelligent NPCs and bosses, numbering in the hundreds of thousands, were instantly killed. This didn’t even include the Favored of these NPCs and Super Bosses. At this moment, the few survivors, led by several of the most individually powerful creatures, had all gathered together. Some frantically shouted, vowing to avenge their dead friends. Others screamed in terror, yelling that the version had updated again. Still others, in a frantic panic, wanted to charge out of the special region and flee to other, vaster and more powerful ones.

Having lost their homes, these NPCs and bosses were like stray dogs. Not only had their Combat Power plummeted, but they had also lost their usual composure and confidence. Before, watching the world version update so rapidly, they had thought the patch that would allow them to emerge from their seclusion was just around the corner. They thought they would soon be free from having to hide away in this special region. But they never imagined that what would come first was a silent, untraceable, and overwhelming attack that would wipe out them and their cities in a single blow.

WHOOSH.

From a distance, Shen Fei, having quickly deployed his Detection Tower, couldn’t care less what these NPCs were thinking. In an instant, his vision followed the tower, arriving directly above their heads. Then, thanks to the effects of his enhancement Auras, skills, and Gemstones, Shen Fei could not only see from far away but also listen in on distant conversations. He immediately began to eavesdrop. Before entering the special region, his goal hadn’t been slaughter, but to gather information.
