Chapter 501 - 195: Destroying Heaven and Earth, Directly Annihilating a Region of Ten Thousand Li

His original plan had been to destroy a single Neutral City and then secretly investigate the aftermath. However, a mandatory quest had forced his hand, and he ended up destroying all the Neutral Cities in the entire special region at once. Now, although things hadn’t gone according to his original plan, the result was still acceptable. At the very least, the Intelligent NPCs and bosses from the destroyed cities had gathered to communicate, which was exactly what he wanted.

WHOOSH—

As his visual Detection swept over them, a cacophony of voices instantly flooded Shen Fei’s ears:

"What in the world happened?"

"What’s going on??"

"Why were the cities destroyed?"

"Was it just our Ice Domain’s cities that were destroyed, or did this happen in all the special regions?"

"Who!"

"Who the hell did this?"

"What do we do?"

"What’s our next move? Should we leave this region and seek refuge in another ice region, or should we stay here and keep investigating the cause?!"

The still-shaken Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses were discussing things rapidly. Unfortunately, their teammates beside them had no answers to their questions. More or less the same confusion filled everyone’s mind.

The fact that the Neutral Cities had been wiped out was too unreasonable! The NPCs and bosses guarding them were also mercilessly killed, which was far too illogical. This was a situation that none of the intelligent beings could comprehend.

They were trying to guess the identity of the one who had destroyed all the Neutral Cities in the region in one fell swoop. They were also trying to guess what the purpose behind such an act was.

These NPCs and Super Bosses never once suspected that the situation was caused by a human player. In their view, the strength of human players was pathetic compared to that of NPCs and bosses like themselves. Even though they had to devour "their own kind" after their inheritance to restore the power they had in the Game World, their power was still not something human players could hope to match.

In the previous era of the game, human players had to rely on controlling characters or using items, killing them with the aid of the game’s rules. But as they gained sentience and were inherited onto Blue Star, these NPCs and bosses were all eagerly anticipating how they would slaughter the human players.

Faced with the destruction of their cities and the slaughter of their people, not a single one of them could imagine it was the work of a human player. All their memories of the previous Great Chaos Secret Realm had vanished, so no one could imagine that a human player could unleash such immense power.

"Did someone in our region provoke a Giant? Did a World-Ending or Creation Level Super Giant enter our territory?"

"Or is it that a Giant wants to drive us away? Is there some treasure hidden in this special region beneath our feet?"

"Or is it some other reason?"

In the minds of all the surviving Intelligent NPCs and Super Bosses, there was one, and only one, possible culprit for the destruction of all the cities and the extinction of over half the creatures in this special ice region—a being they internally referred to as a "Giant."

These "Giant"-level NPCs and bosses possessed the ability to destroy entire worlds back in the Game World. Although, after being inherited onto Blue Star, these beings needed to devour their own kind to restore their World-Ending Level abilities. However, even if they hadn’t fully restored their complete World-Ending Level abilities, these "Giant" beings could still destroy a city with ease, especially since these Giants also had items from the special regions.

Furthermore, some had even used special items to contact NPCs in other special regions. And then, they heard that after the fourth wave of game ability inheritance, some Giants had acquired a new type of item called a "National Treasure Divine Artifact." It was said that the item was perfectly suited for use on Blue Star. A minor boss had supposedly found it in the Game World and brought it over during the inheritance, only for a Giant to steal it.

Come on, get to the point!

From a distance, using the Detection Tower to switch between several groups of NPCs and bosses, Shen Fei heard all sorts of speculation and questions. But he didn’t hear a single thing about what he wanted to know—any chatter about the ultimate goal of the NPCs and bosses. It was driving him crazy.

This is turning into a waste of time...

"What do we do?"

"What do we do?"

"Where do we go from here?"

"Should we stay here and try to survive in the wild, or should we go seek refuge with a Giant?"

A little while later, Shen Fei finally heard something other than just shock and confusion. He heard an Intelligent NPC asking its companion where they should go.

Good enough! Time to see what I’ve flushed out.

Hearing the NPC’s voice, Shen Fei nodded from a distance. As long as they were on the move, as long as these NPCs and bosses were willing to talk, he would have a chance to hear the information he was after.

"We can’t leave!"

"We’ll have to come back eventually anyway!"

"Have you forgotten? Our ultimate goal is..."

Just as Shen Fei was about to follow these NPCs and bosses to another special region, he suddenly heard one of them start talking about it! Someone was talking about the very information Shen Fei wanted to know!

At this, Shen Fei’s gaze sharpened, and he immediately focused on listening in. What he wanted was the ultimate goal of these beings inherited from the games—the ultimate goal of those who were once the NPCs and bosses of various Game Worlds.

Previously, whenever he captured one of them for interrogation, their heads would immediately explode. This proved to be a major obstacle for Shen Fei, and it was the very reason he had entered the special region in the first place. Now, he hadn’t expected to get a lead so directly.
