Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!
Chapter 776: Are They the Villains?
"Xiao Fan, come, eat more and talk less!"
Liu Jing glanced at the empty seat of her son and immediately placed some food into Bai Yifan’s bowl.
Afraid that Bai Yifan might say something earth-shattering and tearful again.
The same went for Bai Xiqin and Wang Yiyun.
Even Leng Yebai, who usually peeled shrimp only for Bai Xiqin, was now expressionlessly peeling a few large shrimps for the king of mouth escape, Bai Yifan.
It wasn’t long before Bai Yifan’s bowl was almost overflowing.
Bai Yifan stared dumbfounded at his suddenly indulgent family, just about to say something to express his flattered feelings, when Bai Zhengxuan immediately stuffed a chicken leg into his mouth.
"Xiao Fan, be good, don’t talk nonsense, or Grandpa might have to twist your head off!"
Bai Zhengxuan said with a smile, looking utterly loving.
Bai Yifan swallowed a gulp of saliva, bowed his head, and gobbled his food, not daring to say a word.
Too terrifying!
His grandpa didn’t often beat him, but when he spoke with a smile, he seemed scarier than his father!
Bai Yifan’s mouth was stuffed full, letting everyone put delicious food into his bowl.
By the end of the meal, Bai Yifan ate even more than Bai Xiqin.
"Burp――"
Bai Yifan burped and reached out to cover his bowl, indicating he couldn’t handle any more.
Only then did the Bai Family relent.
After lunch, the Bai Family opened the car door to get some fresh air at the doorway.
After sitting in the car all morning, it was more comfortable stepping out for fresh air.
Only Bai Anhai stayed inside, desperately absorbing the Crystal Core.
No matter who tried to persuade him, Bai Anhai was determined not to come out to face any bloody calamities.
An hour later, the bus and the black car were back on the road.
"Bang bang bang!"
Dark shadows repeatedly collided with the front windshield of the bus, leaving streaks of black blood.
The zombies outside in Shanghai didn’t recognize the Bai Family’s bus, nor were they familiar with the Bai Family’s scent, and they hadn’t received any instructions from a powerful brainwave, so they didn’t attack the bus.
In the eyes of these zombies, the bus was just like any other survivor’s vehicle.
Bai Yifan felt that he was hitting more zombies, but this was actually normal.
"Xiao Fan, why are there so many zombies? Is there a Zombie King here?"
Bai Anhai’s voice floated down from the upper deck, like a startled bird.
Anyone told by Bai Yifan’s jinx of bloody disaster would not be calm.
"Dad, it’s just a few little zombies, nothing to worry about."
Bai Yifan’s mouth twitched slightly, and his reply was loud and clear.
The first time.
For the first time in front of his dad, Bai Yifan felt like a man who could support the heavens and stand tall!
Feeling triumphant.
Though he didn’t know why dad seemed a bit timid today.
Maybe it was an illusion?
How could dad be timid?
His belt, after all, was very mighty!
"Oh, let me know if there are any formidable zombies."
Bai Anhai’s voice continued from above.
"Got it!"
Bai Yifan responded.
He thought his dad, being the head of the family, would step up in times of danger.
Meanwhile, Bai Anhai was thinking that if danger arose, he’d quickly munch on some ginseng to calm his nerves.
No matter how formidable the opponent was, he’d first keep himself alive!
The sky gradually darkened.
The Base Commander, relying on his experience, drove in a certain direction.
Spending the night outside required choosing a place with lots of humans. Such places weren’t necessarily very safe, but at least there were no particularly ferocious mutant animals or zombies.
In the apocalypse, human gathering places were scarce, but it was still possible to distinguish where they were.
Where there were lights, there were humans.
Thus, the Base Commander headed towards the distant, faintly twinkling lights, and the bus followed closely behind.
The moon hung on the treetop, and the car and bus soon arrived near a village.
From a distance, one could see villagers patrolling with torches around the village.
Neither the Base Commander nor the Bai Family intended to enter the village; they just stopped a distance away.
The people inside the village also noticed the black car and bus; the Bai Family didn’t get out, and neither did they approach to inquire.
In the post-apocalyptic world, vehicles on the road are scarce, though not nonexistent. Occasionally, a passing car would stop near the village, something the villagers had grown accustomed to.
The villagers did not completely let their guard down and sent out two or three people to watch the bus and car from a distance. If the people in these vehicles had other intentions, they wouldn’t be caught off guard.
So far, both parties had been behaving peacefully and were not interfering with each other.
Nothing happened overnight.
The next day.
The sun had not yet risen, with only a pale light appearing in the east.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The bus door was knocked on, without any courtesy, using a shovel to hit the door.
"What do you want with us?"
The Base Commander was the first to get up. He got off the vehicle and walked expressionlessly to the front of the bus.
In front of the bus, several middle-aged men stood at the door with shovels, their expressions unfriendly.
They looked at the Bai Family members as if they were tyrants about to seize maidens.
Wishing they could skin them alive.
The Base Commander’s gaze turned cold at once.
"Where are you from? Are you coming from the direction of Shanghai?"
The leader of the middle-aged men, slightly chubby, held a cleaver and stared intently at the Base Commander.
He mistook them for a gang of vicious criminals.
"Yes."
The Base Commander glanced indifferently at the leading middle-aged man, sensing the surging waves of superpower emanating from him.
He was a decent superpower user.
But not enough to threaten them, just a Fourth Rank Superpower User!
In Shanghai, a Fourth Rank Superpower User held mid to upper strength.
But in the eyes of the Bai Family and the Base Commander, he was just a bit stronger than Bai Yifan!
——Stronger than Bai Yifan, assuming Bai Yifan didn’t use his speech craft.
Under Bai Yifan’s speech craft, let alone a Fourth Rank Superpower User, even an Eighth Rank Superpower User would have to kneel!
"Very well, are you from the Bai family?"
The middle-aged man squinted his eyes at the Base Commander, occasionally releasing invisible waves of energy.
This energy was special, and after sensing it, the Base Commander experienced a drowsy feeling.
A superpower similar to hypnosis?
"Who are you? What does our name matter to you?"
Bai Yifan opened the door, retorting directly.
He was a sixteen or seventeen-year-old boy going through a rebellious phase, trying to act out where he couldn’t at home.
"Very well, it seems you are the villains capturing innocent girls everywhere."
The middle-aged man squinted his eyes, and his aura suddenly surged.
"Village Chief, no need to waste words with them. They killed many girls in our village; my fourth uncle’s daughter died at their hands!"
A middle-aged man glared fiercely at the Bai Family, his fists cracking audibly.
"Yes! Capture them and feed them to the zombies! They are demons!"
"We cannot let them go!"
Simultaneously, the expressions of the men around him turned ferocious as they began showcasing their superpowers.
In the distance, some villagers appeared with shovels and pitchforks, with intense anger in their eyes as they looked at the Bai Family.
The villagers’ anger reached a peak, rendering them unable to listen to anything the Bai Family had to say.
"What villains?"
Bai Yifan was puzzled, not entirely catching what was said, but the villagers had already hurled their superpowers at the Bai Family.
The highest-ranked among these were mere Fourth Rank Superpower Users, who did not intimidate the Bai Family at all.
Ready to confront head-on!
Who’s afraid of whom?
Facing off without hesitation.
Bai Xiqin instantly immobilized all the villagers, making them incapable of movement.
Liu Jing raised a hand, summoning an ice wall from thin air, blocking all the superpower users’ attacks.
Wang Yiyun wasn’t idle either, as purple lightning extended from her fingertips to the sky, encircling everyone’s heads.
Ready to strike them with lightning at any moment.
In the face of absolute power, the villagers’ attacks were like stones sinking into the sea.
"We... We can talk this out. There must be some misunderstanding."
The middle-aged man, who had an imposing demeanor moments before, turned pale. He could sense a terrifying force acting on him, rendering him defenseless should the opponent wish it.
Inwardly, he cursed the stupid idea from the girl in his family, blaming her for the mess.
He hadn’t expected these people to be so terrifyingly powerful!
