Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 463 - 392: Arrangements for the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds World Tournament
Wu Yun had just gotten home when Wei Feng called.
"President Wu! Your Weibo is getting flooded by users! Go check it, quick!"
Reminded by Wei Feng, Wu Yun remembered the giveaway he had promised and immediately opened Weibo on his phone.
The moment he opened the app, Wu Yun saw the 99+ notification icon in his messages.
"Did he bail!?"
"I think we got scammed!"
"Bullshit! Our Wu Yun must have just been busy and forgotten! *Wolf Warrior*’s run just ended early this morning. The day isn’t even over yet! What’s the rush!"
"Exactly! Our Wu Yun donated twenty million, you think he’d care about a measly one million?!"
Wu Yun saw that the comments under the giveaway video he’d posted were polarized, but most of them were supportive.
Seeing so many people supporting him, Wu Yun posted a new message: "First, congratulations to *Wolf Warrior* for reaching a 720 million box office! Things have been hectic lately, so the giveaway slipped my mind! The drawing will start right at midnight on May 4th!"
"One more thing: I’d like to ask any interested players to follow the official websites and Weibo accounts for *PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds* under my company Kunpeng Games, and *Honor of Kings* from Galaxy Network! A huge event will be announced soon!"
The moment he hit post, his Weibo notifications started blowing up with likes and comments, but he ignored them for now.
Wu Yun recalled what Wei Feng had just told him about *Wolf Warrior* earning 720 million at the box office. Comparing that to the 546 million it had earned in his previous life, he thought, ’Looks like this butterfly’s wings are flapping pretty hard.’
As for the box office split, since Phoenix Entertainment invested 50 million, which was 50% of the total investment, they would receive a share of 118.8 million.
A profit of nearly 60 million in just over six months was an incredibly high return on investment for most companies.
But for Wu Yun, it was just a decent sum, nothing more.
After browsing for a moment, Wu Yun opened the exclusive Weibo giveaway link Wei Feng had sent him. He clicked on it and saw that everything was already set up correctly, so he shared the link directly to his own Weibo feed.
"Everyone, please upload a photo of yourself holding your movie ticket. The drawing is at midnight sharp! If you’re selected but don’t have a photo as proof, then sorry, no prize for you!"
After posting that, he glanced back at his previous message.
He ignored the comments from people begging for favors and saw many gamers had also replied.
"Holy shit! It feels like *PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds* is about to do something huge! Let me guess... cross-server play? I’m signing up first so I can go wreck those Japs!"
"The guy above is dreaming! With your skills, you’d just be embarrassing us Huaxia People!"
Wu Yun also saw a few users speculating about a tournament, but there weren’t many of those comments, and they were quickly buried under the flood of other replies.
He looked up as Wen Meng, dressed in a pink silk robe, pushed open the door. She stood there, leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed. The pressure from her arms made her pale, full chest seem even more prominent.
"Darling! Time to take your medicine! Oh, wait! Darling! Time for your bath!" Wen Meng said, then couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Wu Yun turned off his phone, and as he got up to walk past Wen Meng, he reached out and gave her a firm slap on the rear.
The crisp sound echoed quite far, but luckily, the two of them were alone on the second floor of the villa.
"Hey! Go take your shower!"
"Together!" Wu Yun said, scooping Wen Meng up by the waist amid her shriek and carrying her into the master bedroom.
....
「Kunpeng Games.」
Wu Yun leaned back in his executive chair, smiling at Ling Yi and Lu Changsheng, who were seated opposite him. "You both saw my Weibo post last night, right? It was to start generating some early buzz for the *PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds* Global League."
"You have the detailed event plan ready, I assume? Walk me through it. I’ll see if there’s anything that needs to be added."
Ling Yi and Lu Changsheng exchanged a glance before Ling Yi flipped open a folder. "President Wu! We just finished organizing the proposal for the league this morning. I’ve already sent it to you through the system!"
"You can pull it up, and I’ll walk you through the specifics of the plan!"
Wu Yun opened his internal account and, sure enough, found a lot of unread messages. He clicked on the one from Ling Yi and opened the attached Word document.
The cover page read: "PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Global League Event Proposal."
He quickly scanned the table of contents, which was broadly divided into three sections: Promotion, Execution, and Impact Expansion.
Ling Yi said, "President Wu, let’s just touch on the promotion briefly, since you already laid the groundwork for it last night!"
Lu Changsheng, seated next to him, chuckled. "If our tech staff hadn’t known you were the one who posted on Weibo, President Wu, they would have thought we were being swarmed by a hacker group!"
Wu Yun nodded. "On the promotion front, don’t be afraid to spend money. If it’s necessary, spend it. President Ling, please continue."
Ling Yi turned to the first page. "President Wu, if we want our tournament to grab a massive audience quickly, the prize pool has to be substantial!"
"Since *PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds* is divided into four servers, we first need to determine the top eight teams from each one. Then, they’ll all gather to compete for the world championship."
"We’re proposing that the prize money for the top eight teams on each server will range from 3 million down to 50,000 Huaxia Coins."
"As for the World League, it will involve 32 teams. We’ll use a points-based system to determine the rankings, and they’ll all be competing to split a US$10 million prize pool!"
"President Wu, please see page 16. This shows the prize money distribution for the 32 teams based on ranking. The championship team alone will take 50% of the prize pool! The runner-up gets 15%, and third place gets 7.5%."
