Chapter 485: Principal Wang's Purpose

The location Principal Wang chose was a rather obscure private kitchen.

Following the GPS, Wu Yun arrived at the designated location and was surprised to find the tranquil restaurant situated right in the middle of a bustling district—a true oasis of calm amidst the chaos.

The Rolls-Royce stopped in front of a building with a style reminiscent of the Jiangnan water towns, and two hostesses immediately stepped forward to open Wu Yun’s door.

This time, Wu Yun wasn’t wearing a hat, so they recognized him almost instantly.

“Mr. Wu, Mr. Wang and his friends are already waiting inside! Please, follow me!” one of the hostesses said, leading Wu Yun and Xu Chenxi toward the courtyard.

Meanwhile, the other hostess directed Wu Yun’s bodyguard and secretary to park the car before guiding them to a separate hall.

With its small bridges, flowing water, and dense trees, the courtyard felt much cooler than the air outside.

At a private room named “Spring Garden,” the hostess knocked. Only after receiving a response did she push the door open.

“Mr. Wang! Mr. Wu is here!”

Hearing this, Principal Wang immediately stood up and walked over, his face all smiles.

Seeing this, the other two young men and the three women with internet-celebrity faces also rose to their feet.

“President Wu! Welcome! Welcome!” Principal Wang came forward and enthusiastically extended his right hand.

After shaking Principal Wang’s hand, Wu Yun surveyed the room and the people in it.

Wu Yun automatically ignored the three internet-celebrity faces, focusing his attention on the other two young men.

As if suddenly remembering, Principal Wang said, “Come, come! Please, have a seat! We haven’t ordered yet. After all, I don’t know what you like.”

Wu Yun took the menu from the hostess, casually ordered a few dishes, and then passed it to Principal Wang.

Principal Wang expertly added a few more dishes. After the hostess left, he said with a smile, “Let me make some introductions!”

Principal Wang pointed to Wu Yun and announced, “This is the renowned President Wu! You all just saw the news about him this morning! Pinduoduo is his company!”

The other two young men drew a sharp breath. They had been curious why Principal Wang was greeting a guest so enthusiastically; they had only ever seen him act this way with elders or people of a higher status.

Principal Wang then pointed to a tall, thin young man. “This is my childhood friend, Liu Rui. His family is in the luxury goods business. He just recently returned to the country, so he hasn’t had the chance to hear of President Wu’s great name!”

Next, Principal Wang gestured to the shorter, stockier young man. “This is my business partner, Qin Qiang. His family’s business is a bit… diversified.”

Wu Yun nodded without a word, simply waiting for Principal Wang to continue.

“President Wu, you remember the question I asked when we connected online, right? Well, the three of us are quite bullish on the live-streaming industry, so we’re planning to partner up and launch a new live-streaming platform!”

Seeing Wu Yun’s expressionless face, as steady as an old hound, Principal Wang couldn’t help but curse inwardly: ‘This Wu Yun is so young, but he’s so poised and serious! It’s like negotiating with one of those old geezers!’

When he saw Wu Yun wasn’t taking the bait, he noticed that the beautiful female companion next to him showed a glimmer of interest. However, Principal Wang, who was used to seeing beautiful women, only gave her a couple of glances before turning his attention away.

The three women with internet-celebrity faces they had brought along were looking at Wu Yun with expressions of pure adoration.

“Alright! President Wu, the reason I invited you here today is to discuss the broadcasting rights for your two game finals.”

Principal Wang was an impatient man by nature, so when Wu Yun didn’t react, he decided to get straight to the point.

“You mean, you want me to put the finals for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Honor of Kings on your upcoming live-streaming platform?” Wu Yun’s expression remained unchanged, making it impossible for the three men to guess his thoughts.

“Yes!” Liu Rui and Qin Qiang looked at Wu Yun with expectant faces. This live-streaming platform was their big entrepreneurial venture. If they failed, they would have no choice but to go home, suffer the wrath of their fathers, and inherit the family fortune.

Wu Yun gestured at the table. Xu Chenxi, understanding instantly, handed him his tea. He took a sip before speaking. “My idea was to broadcast the finals for both games on television. That way, more people will see it.”

“Esports are a type of sport, so putting them on television is very appropriate!”

Principal Wang’s expression stiffened for a moment, but he quickly recovered and said with a smile, “President Wu, you’re right! Putting both finals on TV would certainly expand the two games’ visibility even further!”

“But have you considered that there’s very little overlap between the current television audience and the gaming audience?”

Principal Wang gave a confident smile. “As you know, I also have an entertainment company under my name, so we’ve done audience research on various TV networks and online video platforms.”

“Right now, the TV audience is generally made up of middle-aged and older people, in their thirties or forties and above! Or it’s predominantly women who enjoy watching dramas.”

“Meanwhile, the male gaming audience is concentrated on live-streaming platforms, online games, and so on! President Wu, I think if you’re really set on expanding your influence, you could take a two-pronged approach: broadcast on TV and simultaneously stream it online!”

Principal Wang saw that Wu Yun’s expression hadn’t changed, but the fingers he had resting on the table had started to tap a steady rhythm. Principal Wang knew his words were having an effect!

He decided to strike while the iron was hot. “We’re naming our platform ‘Panda.’ It will be primarily gaming-focused, but of course, we’re ultimately building a comprehensive live-streaming platform.”
