“He hired a bunch of law firms and sued everyone who insulted or even personally attacked him! Now a lot of those keyboard warriors have backed down, deleting their comments and even posting apologies!”

Liao Na pumped her fist. “I say, good for him! That’ll shut those trash-talking keyboard warriors up. Seriously, the consequences for what people say online are too low sometimes. The internet is becoming a weapon for them to attack others!”

Liu Chang was a little confused. “Can you really sue all those people for spouting nonsense online?”

Li Jing nodded. “Of course you can! As long as you gather enough evidence! It just takes a lot of time and money!”

Chen Jia, who was standing nearby, chimed in, “And as it happens, Wu Yun is someone with no time but tons of money! For him, spending a little cash to buy the law firms’ time and sue those keyboard warriors is no big deal!”

Liu Chang grew even more curious. “So, did he successfully sue anyone?”

“Of course he did!” the other three said in unison.

The three of them exchanged a smile. Li Jing quickly unlocked her phone, searched for a moment, and said, “Look, here’s an announcement from Guowei Law Firm. They successfully sued two keyboard warriors, one in Rongcheng and one in Chang’an, and the court has already issued a verdict.”

“Since they couldn’t prove any substantial harm or mental distress to Wu Yun, the court only sentenced them to fifteen days of detention and ordered them to issue a mandatory apology!”

Liao Na, looking like she was enjoying the drama, sighed. “What a shame! They didn’t learn a more serious lesson! Still, even that was enough to scare the crap out of a lot of keyboard warriors! That’s why so many of them are deleting their posts and even apologizing!”

“Ah! After hearing all this, I’m getting more and more curious about him! Nope, I have to go look him up! It would be so embarrassing if I didn’t recognize him later!”

“You can start by searching…”

—————–

Wu Yun hadn’t wanted to be driven onto campus, but he’d received a reminder from Wang Xuanmin the previous night: “Student Wu Yun! Have your driver use the small back gate tomorrow; the school has already notified security! You’re an idol to our students now. I’m afraid if you walk, you might not make it to the opening ceremony on time!”

At the same time, Wu Yun also got a message from Liu Yongheng: “Boss! You should definitely take a car tomorrow! You have no idea how crazy these girls are now! I’ve overheard them talking during meals several times, and it sounds like they want to grab you and eat you alive!”

Seeing these two messages, Wu Yun instantly understood the methods of very popular celebrities. If you don’t want to attract attention, you have to find a more low-key way.

So, Wu Yun had Little Red Car bring out the shared business van, and the bodyguards switched to ordinary sedans.

Having changed his vehicle, Wu Yun passed through the school gate Wang Xuanmin had specified and quickly found the teacher waiting to receive him.

Guided by the teacher, Wu Yun quickly made his way through the campus roads and arrived behind the stage on the athletic field.

The moment he stepped out of the car, Wu Yun was startled by the scene before him!

Everywhere he looked, there were girls in colorful, flashy outfits. He even spotted many who were clearly sophomores and juniors, with a few male students mixed in among them.

“Teacher Wang! Isn’t this a bit much? Don’t the sophomores and juniors have classes?” Wu Yun scanned the area. Apart from the freshmen seated in the center of the field, the upperclassmen were being organized by their class presidents to sit in designated spots.

The male teacher who had received him chuckled. “Student Wu Yun, you’re not just here to give a student speech. To thank you for your donation, the school specially invited all students without classes to attend the opening ceremony.”

The male teacher added, “This is a real one-of-a-kind event! At least, as far as I know, this is the first time this has ever happened!”

Wu Yun smiled. “So, has the speech draft the school prepared for me been changed?”

As was standard practice in the country, speeches for most ceremonies were based on scripts prepared well in advance.

Teacher Wang said with a smile, “It’s still the original one! But the president has given the word! You can go off-script and speak freely, as long as you don’t say anything that violates rules or discipline!”

“Alright! I’ll take a look at it in a bit!”

Led by Teacher Wang, Wu Yun walked to the area below the stage. He saw four or five middle-aged men already gathered in a circle, and Wang Xuanmin was among them.

Seeing Wu Yun approach, Wang Xuanmin smiled and went to greet him. “Student Wu Yun! Long time no see! You’re the star of the show today!”

As he spoke, Wang Xuanmin pointed to the young, innocent faces sitting on the field, laughing and fooling around.

Wu Yun could even feel many gazes directed his way.

“Dean Wang, I thought I was just speaking to the freshmen? Why are there so many other students here now?” Wu Yun asked casually.

Wang Xuanmin then repeated what Teacher Wang had said, but with more specific and confidential details. “A group of students submitted a joint petition, wanting to watch your speech, especially your own classmates.”

“So, after a discussion among the school’s leadership, we decided to just open up the ceremony and allow other years and even the media to come in and record.”

“We also hope you can give the fourth-year seniors some ideas about entrepreneurship! After all, the country is encouraging it right now!”

Wu Yun nodded, showing he understood. “In that case, I’ll just say what I want to say today! The speech the school prepared is, shall we say, very conventional. The students won’t get much inspiration from it!”

Dean Wang laughed heartily. “I was just discussing with the other deans whether you’d go off-script! Haha, you didn’t disappoint!”

“Come! Have a seat!” Wang Xuanmin said, pointing to a row of seats below the stage.

Wu Yun pointed at the stage and asked, “At our opening ceremony last year, these chairs were all on the stage. Are we really doing some kind of solo speech thing today? With everyone going up one by one?”

Dean Wang smiled. “That’s right! Today is mainly about you on stage! Everything else is secondary! Even our president is just a supporting character!”

The deans sitting nearby all jokingly agreed that Dean Wang was right! And that they were going to report him to the president for it!

Just then, the speakers on the stage came to life, and classic entrance music filled the air.

The voices of a man and a woman rang out!

It was Wang Liang and Li Ling, whom Wu Yun had met a few times, the hosts of last year’s freshman welcome gala.

They began by following the program, introducing the school’s leaders and the deans of the various colleges.

The school was even using some “high-tech” this time.

Whenever they introduced someone, a large screen on the stage showed a live feed of the person, allowing everyone in the audience to see the leaders’ faces clearly.

After Wang Liang finished introducing the school leadership, Li Ling’s voice rang out again: “And now, it is my great honor to introduce our school’s outstanding student and renowned alumnus, Wu Yun!”

Wu Yun stood up at the right moment and waved to the freshmen and upperclassmen on the field. Instantly, screams erupted from all corners of the audience, a stark contrast to the reaction when the school leaders were introduced.

The president, Xia Wenwu, who was sitting next to Wu Yun, joked, “Student Wu Yun, you’re even more popular than I am! I guess I have to admit I’m getting old!”

…

“Liu Chang, did you see that? He’s drop-dead gorgeous! Ugh, but it’s a shame some upperclasswoman already snatched him up!” Liao Na patted Liu Chang, who was sitting in front of her, letting out a mix of screams and sighs.

“Liu Chang!”

“Liu Chang!”

Liao Na called out a few times, but she got no response. Chen Jia, next to Liu Chang, turned to look and burst out laughing. “Looks like Liu Chang has fallen for him!”

After a moment, Liu Chang said with a complicated expression, “Someone so amazing really exists… And he’s so close to me! I don’t think I’ll be able to settle for any other guy now! But someone like him can only be admired from afar. A normal girl like me can’t be Cinderella!”

Li Jing chuckled. “Don’t worry, we’ll be single with you for all four years!”

Chen Jia cursed playfully, “No way! I’m not planning on being single! My number one goal in college is to find a boyfriend I like!”

Liao Na covered her mouth and giggled. “So what kind are you looking for?”

“Someone half as handsome as Wu Yun with a body that’s half as good would be enough! If he’s rich, even better!”

Liao Na was exasperated. “Yeah, right. In your dreams!”
