Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1542: School Begins
After Feifei finished speaking, no one paid attention to her at all. What a joke? How could they be comfortable letting her go home alone after school?
Chaoyang and the others were ready too. Li Xue and Jing Chu were both attending the same university as their respective partners, which made things much more convenient for them.
Initially, Han Xiangjun hired a nanny for Jing Chu, and she was still there. It was quite nice. She was responsible for cooking for the kids, making them feel much more at ease with school.
The next day was the day to report to school. Yang Run Tai still came by bike. Jianbin agreed to wait at the school gate, but he didn’t want to wait. So, he came over, and the three of them rode their bikes to school individually.
They had already visited the school before. So, they just went through the registration process and checked their classes.
Today, Feifei was wearing very ordinary old clothes, which made Wei Kaiyun a bit unhappy. Jiang Xinyu glared at him, and only then did he settle down.
Despite such ordinary attire, she still attracted a lot of attention.
Feifei was within the Chinese literature department, where most of the students were girls. Of course, there were also aspiring young men who loved literature.
Feifei was in Class One, as her grades were quite remarkable.
The counselor was a middle-aged man, scholarly and wearing glasses, with clothes washed to the point of fading, yet he gave off a clean and tidy feeling.
The first class of the Chinese literature department consisted of forty people, eight boys and thirty-two girls.
Although two boys were quite short, they still didn’t have the nerve to sit up front.
Feifei was now 165 cm tall, already considered tall in the class.
But those eight boys sat at the back, and Feifei didn’t want too much contact with them, so she chose to sit at the first desk against the wall.
By now, 80% of the students were already in the classroom, probably the ones who hadn’t arrived yet were still in their dorms.
The girls were chatting among themselves, still strangers, but they couldn’t help their natural instincts.
So now, while the students hadn’t all gathered yet, the counselor was possibly reviewing the attendance list up front, and no one was supervising, they began to introduce themselves to classmates nearby.
Jiang Feifei was looking at the newspaper in her hand, which Yang Run Tai had given her that morning.
She skimmed over the current affairs and political section but was quite engrossed in the poetry, prose, and short novel sections.
More students trickled into the classroom, just as Jiang Feifei was immersed in her reading. The counselor at the podium lightly coughed.
"Everyone, quiet down. First of all, welcome to Capital University. Thank you all for trusting and choosing us. Let me introduce myself. I’m Jin Zhiwen, and unless something unforeseen happens, I will be with you all for these next four years."
"Now all forty of us in this class are present. Since we’ll be living together for the next four years, let’s use today to introduce ourselves."
"We’ll start with the first student sitting against the wall."
This was addressed to Jiang Feifei, and she stood up.
"Students, please stand at the podium, and those next up, please come forward to let everyone recognize you better."
Jiang Feifei stood at the podium, "Hello everyone, my name is Jiang Feifei, I’m sixteen years old. I look forward to getting along well with all of you. Let’s work hard and make progress together."
Counselor Jin Zhiwen and the classmates below applauded.
Other classmates might not know Jiang Feifei, but the counselor did — she was the top scorer! And he didn’t expect her to be such a pretty girl.
"Alright, next student, please."
Jiang Feifei returned to her seat, listening to everyone’s self-introductions.
These were truly top students; although their ages varied, they were all talented.
Jiang Feifei had an excellent memory and remembered everyone in her class after the introductions.
"Alright, everyone has gotten to know each other. From now on, we are members of a big collective. I hope you all encourage each other and make progress together."
"That’s it for today. Tomorrow is the official start of school. See you all tomorrow."
After Jin Zhiwen left, Jiang Feifei also got up to leave. The door was close, so it was very convenient for her to step out.
In fact, she didn’t realize that many were discussing her, mainly because she was really too young.
"I heard the top scorer is in our Chinese literature department. And she’s particularly young. Could it be Jiang Feifei?"
"It must be her."
"It’s truly impressive; how does she study? You guys don’t know, after I got my college entrance exam results, I studied day and night without rest. Thinking back on it, I shed a tear in bitterness."
"Who’s to say otherwise? How did she study?"
Students gradually left. Jiang Feifei exited the department building and saw three people outside waiting for her.
"You finished so soon? Aren’t future politicians supposed to spend more time networking?"
"Shall we have lunch outside? Aunt Wei isn’t home today, right?"
Jiang Feifei shook her head, "No, I can’t. There’s still Master Shang; I’ll go back."
It was already 11:30, and she wondered if Master Shang had eaten.
"Are Shi Xian and the others eating at school?"
"No, they should be just finishing classes at this time."
The four of them quickly walked to the bike shed, rode away from campus.
When they got home, Jiang Xinyu had already made lunch. Shi Xian and Tingting had been home for a while.
Today, Yang Run Tai and Zhibin stayed for lunch. Fortunately, Jiang Xinyu prepared plenty.
She didn’t eat but took some food to find Wei Kaiyun.
After meals, Shi Xian and Tingting returned to their rooms for a short rest; they needed to learn piano and guzheng in the afternoon.
Yang Run Tai invited Feifei to play chess. "How are your classmates? Easy to get along with?"
Jiang Feifei shrugged, "It’s only the first day. How would I know? There was no time to talk."
Yang Run Tai was quite pleased that Jiang Feifei was in the Chinese literature department, as it was mostly female-dominated, which seemed safer.
Now, Yang Run Tai couldn’t beat Jiang Feifei even when trying his best, but he didn’t feel embarrassed about it.
"You’ve lost."
"Feifei, shall I go with you for piano practice this afternoon?"
"Don’t you have anything else to do?"
"No, I’ve got nothing."
So this time, Yang Run Tai joined the piano practice. Shamelessly, they performed a duet, which satisfied him.
The next day was the official start of school. They spent the morning getting books distributed.
Jiang Feifei brought over the backpacks her mom prepared, filled them up, and they were quite heavy to carry.
For lunch, they went home; Jiang Xinyu felt sorry for them. "You should get meal cards at school and avoid the roundtrip at noon. It’s fine now, but it’s tiring when it gets warmer."
She had to come back to cook every day since there were elders and two younger ones needing meals at home.
Shi Jing and Feifei didn’t mind. That afternoon, they went and got meal cards at the cafeteria.
