Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space
Chapter 1545: Work
I recommend a free book, “My Wife is a Drama Queen” by Taozhi Yaoyao 01.
At the morning meeting, Qi Guangye introduced Wei Kaiyun to all the colleagues.
There was a round of applause. Most people still welcomed him as the deputy minister.
Wei Kaiyun briefly introduced himself once more.
“I hope everyone can work together. We’ve been chosen by the country and the people, so we must live up to their trust. In future work, I hope everyone can support each other.”
Wei Kaiyun said a few simple words. The remaining time was spent on everyone discussing in the meeting.
Because he landed in from elsewhere and it was his first meeting today, he was unaware of the topics they were discussing, so he didn’t stop writing with his pen.
Old Yang’s side was much simpler, as he was also introduced at the morning meeting, followed by a discussion on yesterday’s case.
Old Yang listened on the side and did not express anything.
At this point, a particularly refined looking man spoke, “Leader, that guy has a really tough mouth.”
“Who is willing to go this time?”
No one spoke. Old Yang thought for a moment, “I’ll give it a try. Give me this person’s information.”
Old Yang studied the information for half an hour, then went over.
Actually, Old Yang didn’t want to show off; he’s past the age of seeking victory. The reason he did this was that he felt it was a test for himself.
So he took on this case. Truth be told, Old Yang has become much more peaceful now. He no longer wants to engage in violent confrontations.
But since he was assigned here, he had no choice but to accept it.
He thinks it’s quite good; after all, this is what he knows how to do.
An hour later, he came out, followed by the refined man who spoke earlier.
That man at the back had a very fitting expression, holding a notebook, and seemed to be almost floating while walking.
He handed the transcripts to the leader, “He’s really tough; that scoundrel couldn’t hold out for more than ten minutes. Leader, do you think I’ve been too gentle before?”
“Quite possibly, very possibly, you’re too timid.”
“Leader, that’s a personal attack.” But he was genuinely impressed by the newcomer’s methods.
In the afternoon, Old Yang had some free time, so he reviewed the materials in the office, and some issues were very difficult to solve.
He even saw an acquaintance. After looking closely, he sighed internally, unsure what the person was holding out for, considering the circumstances. What else is there to hold on to?
Also, he’s very curious, why switch sides? And now what are they insisting on?
The food at the canteen during lunch was quite nice, including meat.
There aren’t many people in their department, roughly about thirty to forty, Old Yang estimated.
He was eating when the leader sat across from him.
“Old Yang, have you reviewed the reports? What’s your take on Feng Yongqiang’s matter?”
“Leader, can I take charge of it? We were once close.”
“I believe you’re not someone easily swayed, and I trust your character.”
Old Yang understood, so he nodded, “I’ll talk to him in the afternoon.”
They lived together for three years and worked together for several years, so they were familiar with each other.
Maybe this is what Gao Zhaoming was considering?
It doesn’t matter, meeting an old friend is also fine.
Their lunch break was one and a half hours, and Old Yang spent it reviewing the documents.
Before meeting Feng Yongqiang, he called the refined man, Liu Xiaodong.
“Brother Yang, Feng Yongqiang really won’t speak. Ever since arriving here, he hasn’t said a word, I’ve tried withholding water from him for a day, and he wouldn’t ask for it.”
“You’re underestimating him; that won’t work on him.”
The two went into the room and waited for a few minutes as two people escorted Feng Yongqiang in.
He sat across from Old Yang, looked at him, and smiled.
Old Yang smiled back, the two just smiled face to face without speaking.
Sitting to the side, Liu Xiaodong was unnerved by their laughter.
Approximately five minutes later, Feng Yongqiang spoke first, his voice hoarse, “How are you?”
“Hmm, very well, I have a wife and kids, living peacefully for over ten years.”
“You always had a far-sighted view.”
Old Yang shook his head, “You know me.”
“Are you and Xiao Wei together?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn’t I run into the two of you back then, or I might be sitting in your position now.”
“Qiangzi, that’s not good.”
“What else can I do if it’s not good? You don’t need to advise me anymore. It’s already this way, one wrong step leads to another.”
Old Yang went over and handed a cigarette to him.
“Are you still smoking?”
Old Yang shook his head, “I prepared this especially for you. I came here for the first time today, you know, yesterday the leader met with the two of us. He arranged works suited for both of us. Qiangzi, at the beginning, you were way better than the two of us. I’m not asking why you’re here; I just want to ask you if you’ve forgotten how you survived?”
Feng Yongqiang’s hand trembled as he smoked. He smoked fiercely, frowning, his eyes particularly wild.
“Want another one?” Although Old Yang asked, he still handed him another one, helping him light it.
Returning to his seat, he placed his tea mug near Feng Yongqiang’s hand, then sat back in his seat.
“Old Yang, give me another.”
Old Yang smiled without refusal, offering him a third one.
The two watched him as he smoked and exhaled clouds of smoke.
After finishing the third cigarette, he relaxed.
“I envy you two.”
“No need to envy, my mind might not be sharp but I have a baseline; I treat the leader like a second parent.”
With Old Yang’s words, Liu Xiaodong saw Feng Yongqiang cry, then break into loud sobs.
“Why? Why did it turn out this way?”
“Qiangzi. Don’t you think you’re too smart? Sometimes the smartest people make mistakes easily.”
“I’m smart! I’m just a thorough fool, an idiot. Old Yang, do you want to know something from me?”
Old Yang shook his head, “Doesn’t matter. You know what our drill instructor taught us during training? I think you should know me.”
“Old Yang, I’ll tell you everything I know.”
Old Yang nodded, “As long as you figure it out yourself.”
Beside them, Liu Xiaodong was slack-jawed in surprise.
Feng Yongqiang was one of the hardest to deal with; who would have thought some discussions, a smoke, and a drink would get him to open up.
Actually, from the moment the two started talking, it was clear this would be fruitful.
Initially, he thought Old Yang would use the morning’s methods, but unexpectedly, matters were resolved so simply.
Now Liu Xiaodong was beginning to doubt his own intellect. Was he really far off?
Forget it, better not trouble himself.
Listening to their conversation, Liu Xiaodong’s hand never stopped, constantly taking notes.
