Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord

Chapter 2717: Losing Composure

  • Next Chapter

The servant boy shouted internally, "Old Master, are you out of your mind? Serving you is serious business."

However, outwardly he didn’t dare to be reckless, as the Left and Right Protectors were extremely ruthless in their actions. If they found out his disrespect towards the Old Master, they surely wouldn’t let him off.

The servant boy’s eyes darted around, and he cautiously said, "Old Master, I am also thinking of your health. It’s almost noon now, and if you don’t eat, you’ll harm your body, making the Left and Right Protectors worried!"

Upon hearing these words, the old man couldn’t control himself anymore and burst into tears: "Waaah...! What am I worried about, those two little rascals, who knows if they’re even alive? If something really happens to them, how am I supposed to cry? Waaah waaah waaah...!"

Upon hearing this, the servant boy was startled and hurriedly asked, "Old Master, what exactly happened?"

Only then did the old man realize his loss of composure, quickly raised his arm to wipe the tears off his face, and while sobbing said, "I don’t know if it’s true or false, better to find out first!"

Servant boy: "Old Master, what does the letter say?"

At this point, there was nothing to hide as the old man recounted the contents of the letter to him.

Finally, the old man added, "Who knows which heartless person, is deliberately framing the Princess Consort, trying to ruin our relationship."

The servant boy pondered for a moment, then said, "It’s possible, we just visited the War Prince’s Mansion yesterday, and today someone delivered this letter. It must be an enemy of the Princess Consort."

"Hmm, indeed, without evidence we shouldn’t easily believe others trying to sow discord."

The old man seemed to be talking to himself, almost as if comforting himself.

"Old Master, stop overthinking, let’s eat first!" The servant boy was starving; if the Old Master didn’t eat, he dared not eat.

"No, I can’t eat. You eat!" With his son’s life hanging in the balance, he was in no mood to eat.

Upon hearing this, the servant boy’s heart leaped with joy, almost moved to tears. He could finally eat, what a relief.

Offhandedly, the servant boy said, since the Master wasn’t eating, as a servant, he must be polite. "Old Master, have some at least, don’t starve yourself."

The old man, with tear-filled eyes, shook his head and said, "No, I have no appetite."

The servant boy couldn’t wait any longer: "Then... then I’ll eat."

Old man: "Hmm!"

The servant boy devoured the food in a frenzy, quickly finishing everything on the table, leaving not a trace. Clearly, his courtesy just now was indeed only polite chatter, and not a single bit was false.

After burping satisfactorily, he rubbed his full stomach contentedly, saying, "Oh! I was starving, finally full."

"Gurgle gurgle...!"

At this moment, the room filled with the sound of a stomach rumbling.

Following the sound, the servant boy looked over...

The old man, sitting on the bed, also looked at him and said, "I’m hungry too, bring me something to eat."

The servant boy froze for a moment: "Old Master, didn’t you say you weren’t eating?"

Old man: "I wasn’t hungry earlier, now I am."

Indeed, it was almost noon; it’d be strange if the old man wasn’t hungry!

"But, Old Master, the food... I’ve already finished it." The servant boy said with an embarrassed look, thinking to himself, this was the Old Master’s fault, he said he wasn’t eating, which led him to finish the food, couldn’t blame him.

The old man abruptly raised his head: "What? You finished two people’s breakfast?"

Servant boy: "Hehe... I was too hungry and couldn’t hold back."

The old man was somewhat displeased. His mood was already bad, and now he was hungry and feeling sad, making things even worse. He couldn’t help but scold: "You... were you born a pig? How come you can eat so much!"
