Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord
Chapter 2720: Checking In at the Inn
The old man was very angry, he had never heard of such rules, paying the money before staying at the inn: "What nonsense! I haven’t even stepped in yet, why pay Silver?"
The attendant arrogantly said: "You’re different from others."
The old man’s veins on his forehead were bulging with anger, he furiously questioned: "How am I different from others?"
The attendant glanced sideways at him with disdain, as if certain the old man couldn’t produce the Silver, shaking the towel on his shoulder vigorously as he spoke in a mocking tone: "Unlike you, others don’t have a thieving servant and now you’ve lost all your luggage, how will you have Silver to settle the bill? Are you planning to freeload at our inn?"
It had been an overwhelming day, the old man’s head was about to explode. Hearing the attendant’s words, he felt that his patience had reached its limits, and with fury, regardless of his age, he rolled up his sleeves and lunged forward to fight with the attendant.
They were arguing at the top of the stairs.
The sudden turn of events caught the attendant off guard; the old man crashed into him, causing him to lose balance, and tumble down...
The whole person rolled down the stairs...
"Thud!"
He fell with his head broken and bleeding, lying on the hall floor.
The Shopkeeper, who was sitting at the counter calculating accounts, stood up in surprise upon hearing the noise and hurried over to check...
"Ah... it hurts... I’m in so much pain." The attendant, dizzy from the fall, staggered to his feet, lifted a hand to wipe his forehead, felt the sticky blood, looked down and immediately screamed in panic: "Blood... I’m bleeding... murder!"
The Shopkeeper had been focused on his accounts and wasn’t sure what had transpired, having only vaguely heard some commotion.
"Why are you so careless?" The Shopkeeper assumed the attendant had fallen due to his own negligence and his tone was full of reproach.
This attendant was always so clumsy and unstable in his work, and if he got injured at the inn, who would pay for his medical treatment? Running a small business couldn’t afford such troubles.
The attendant, with a face full of blood, was extremely aggrieved and said to the Shopkeeper angrily: "Shopkeeper, it’s not my carelessness - someone tried to harm me, they pushed me down."
Shopkeeper: "Who dares to harm you in broad daylight?"
The attendant pointed up at the old man standing on the second floor, indignantly saying: "It was him, he pushed me down."
The old man, with emotions surging all day, looked at the bleeding attendant without much expression. Under normal circumstances, he would have panicked at the thought of a casualty.
"Old man, why did you do this?" The Shopkeeper asked kindly.
Before the old man could answer, the attendant, like an Evildoers accusing first, recounted the earlier incident.
In the end, he angrily said: "Shopkeeper, this old man is too despicable, not only does he have no money to pay, he also wants to murder. Shopkeeper, don’t be polite with him, let’s report to the authorities."
The Shopkeeper turned and berated: "Shut up, who asked you to speak?"
The attendant, unwilling, said: "He’s wrong...!"
The Shopkeeper shouted again: "Shut up, and you keep talking!"
It wasn’t that the Shopkeeper was siding with the old man, but he had sharp eyes and saw the look of fury on the old man’s face and the half-exposed dagger gleaming from his grasp inside his coat, frightening the Shopkeeper immensely. He didn’t want a murder case in the inn; who would dare to stay afterwards? That would ruin his business.
In haste, the Shopkeeper scolded the attendant, hoping to calm the old man’s anger and avoid a confrontation, as lawsuits wouldn’t be good for anyone.
