Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1248: Lionheart conversation

Chapter 1248: Lionheart conversation

Michael’s eyebrows raised. "You’re allied with Earl?"

Now it finally made sense as to why they were so eager to have this conversation today.

After all, according to the Shadow Orcs, the war between the Oscorpe siblings was starting to peak at its climax. Thousands of soldiers were being killed. Territory being captured. Advantages being seized and relented.

And from what he could see, it seemed that Earl was on the backfoot. He had become too overconfident in his powers, leading to his other siblings taking advantage of this and striking him back to where he came from.

"Tsk. We are not allied with that imbecile," said Caliburn. "We are indebted to his father. And he wanted to make sure that this succession is for the best of the Conglomerate as a whole."

Michael frowned, not knowing where Caliburn was going with this.

"Can you get to the point?"

Caliburn took a deep breath before saying, "they would like you to stop supporting Earl Oscorpe."

This made Michael stop in his tracks. He thought that they would somehow ask him to surrender the Mining Estate or something, especially since it was their territory.

But as it turned out, they were under the wrong assumption that he was in cahoots with Earl Oscorpe.

"That is very far from the truth," Michael admitted. "We are not in any way, shape, or form, allied with Earl. In fact, we have had skirmishes against each other."

Caliburn and the other Lionhearts turned towards each other. "The Oscorpe leaders think differently. After all, Earl had always been the black sheep in their family. He was the weakest out of the bunch.

And despite being tenth in line of the succession, he is nowhere anywhere near being considered as the next leader of the Conglomerate."

Michael thought deeply.

"And because of that, Earl was sequestered off to the very edge of the Upper Echelon territories, making sure that he would not have to interfere into the succession. He wouldn’t have any allies nor strength to fight.

However, something happened. Just a week ago, Earl suddenly attacked one of his brothers. Caught him by surprise. Normally, this wouldn’t be enough for Earl to have the upper hand. His siblings were much more prepared, much more powerful, that any kind of advantage that Earl had will completely become unusable."

Finally, the picture was starting to clear in Michael’s mind.

"But that’s not what happened. Somehow, Earl was able to anticipate every single move of his brother. He was able to win a war that was supposed to be unwinnable for him.

Now of course, their spies were quick to work. There must have been a secret as to how he was able to do what he did.

And they were able to find out that Earl was able to have his hands on an item that looked magical in its abilities. It took a lot of time before they figured out that it was not magic, but technology."

Caliburn looked at Michael. "And the only one who has a complete advantage in technology was your company. Reborn. And with the rumors of the ’smart phone’ circulating in the Upper Echelons, they were quick to put the two and two together."

Michael nodded to himself. It looked like his plans were working.

The smart phone was starting to gather a reputation.

In fact, that was the very reason why he allowed Earl to keep on using the smart phones for his army. He knew that it would get the attention of his other siblings.

He hoped that once they figured this out, they would come to him and want to buy it for themselves.

And Michael would agree, of course. By then, the smart phone would be spread to a Conglomerate branch.

More people would be connected to the internet. To the social media that showed Reborn’s wonder and beauty. And through that, he would start to gain allies from the Conglomerate’s own territory.

That was his plan. But he didn’t expect for the main Conglomerate company to get ahead of the others.

Now, they were hoping he’d stop supplying Earl with phones.

"We did not give Earl those phones," he admitted. Some of Caliburn’s soldiers were surprised he admitted that. "But we cannot stop him from stealing from our own citizens. We tried."

Of course, that was a lie. If he truly wanted it, he could snap the connection of their phone to the internet in a single thought.

But that would completely go against his creed. His belief.

Everyone was entitled to comfort. Everyone was entitled to a good life. Everyone could have a phone, if they wanted.

Now, if they were to do good or bad with that phone, was completely up to them. As well as the consequences that came with it.

Caliburn kept a stern face. "You realize that if this keeps happening, the Oscorpe family can request us to confiscate those phones."

Michael returned his gaze. "You can do whatever you want with Earl’s phones. But for ours... you can try."

It was subtle, but there was a small grin on Caliburn’s face. It was as if he was glad that Michael had a backbone to him.

"In truth, we hope that it does not come to violence. We will do what we can to stop Earl. And from what we’ve observed, you’ll want that too, right?

We’ve done our research. You took the Mining Estate from him. Which means you’ll be more than glad for us to get rid of him."

Caliburn stood up, with the rest of the Lionhearts following suit.

But just as they were about to leave, Michael said, "what was his sin?"

"What?" Caliburn asked, turning back to him.

"Earl. You said that he was out of the succession. What did he do?"

This made the Lionheart Patriarch frown. "He’s..."

"He’s weak," Michael finished that thought for him. "And just when he had the means to fight back, to protect himself, you’re taking that away from him. You’re keeping him weak, when he wants to be strong."
