When Fu Mingxue heard some equipment was broken, she agreed at once.

"Alright, give me a moment. I’ll go put on another layer."

"Okay."

Director Xie acknowledged her and then waited at the door.

Some people in the family courtyard saw this but looked away after a brief glance.

’So it’s true, Fu Mingxue and Director Xie from the base are on good terms.’

’No wonder Director Xie sided with Fu Mingxue last time.’

’We’d better not mess with Fu Mingxue again.’

Meanwhile, Fu Mingxue put on a jacket and came out.

"Director Xie, let’s go!"

As she came out, she closed the main door and turned to look at Director Xie. "Director Xie, what kind of equipment is broken?"

"You’ll see when we get there." Director Xie didn’t elaborate.

Seeing this, Fu Mingxue didn’t ask any more questions.

When they arrived, Fu Mingxue realized a set of radar equipment had broken down.

Although she wasn’t a specialist in this field, she genuinely knew how to fix it.

It would just take some time.

Two hours later, she had it fixed.

"Thank you. I’m truly grateful, Mr. Fu," Director Xie thanked her sincerely.

"It was nothing, just doing my part. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be heading back now."

"I’ll walk you back." The moment Director Xie said this, Fu Mingxue refused.

She smiled and said, "Director Xie, please don’t trouble yourself. This is a military base; it’s perfectly safe. There’s no need to escort me back and forth."

"Alright then. By the way, are you going back to Beijing for the New Year?"

Director Xie’s question caught Fu Mingxue a bit by surprise. "I’m not sure yet, but I’ll probably go back. If Qin Wenhao doesn’t have time, I’ll go by myself."

Director Xie quickly said, "Mr. Fu, you misunderstand. What I mean is—if you’re going back to Beijing City for the New Year, you should have Qin Wenhao accompany you. It would be more reassuring for the two of you to travel together."

"Oh, I’ll be fine. I can manage on my own. Qin Wenhao should prioritize his duties at the base—"

Director Xie admired her independent mindset.

So he didn’t press the matter.

However, the military had already approved Qin Wenhao’s leave for the New Year.

They wouldn’t be assigning him any more missions.

After all, around the New Year, thieves and human traffickers were at their most rampant on the trains.

For Fu Mingxue’s safety, they were definitely giving Qin Wenhao time off.

Fu Mingxue wasn’t just a top-tier talent in engine development; she was also considerably knowledgeable about electronics.

Such a top-tier talent was a rare gem in the country. They couldn’t let anything happen to her under any circumstances.

When Fu Mingxue got home, she saw Qin Wenhao busy in the kitchen, so she went straight there.

"What delicious thing are you making?"

The moment Qin Wenhao saw his wife return, he said, "Honey, I’m making you some chicken stew with mushrooms."

Hearing this, Fu Mingxue couldn’t help but tease, "This chicken doesn’t look very ’little’!"

Qin Wenhao was at a loss for words.

’My wife is hilarious!’

’Who says you have to use a small chicken for chicken stew with mushrooms?’

"Let me help you with the fire," Fu Mingxue said, walking over to the stove.

’Come to think of it, it’s been a long time since I’ve cooked.’

But there was no way Qin Wenhao would let his wife tend the fire.

’His wife’s hands are precious. What if she hurt or burned them?’

He immediately stopped her. "Honey, no need. I’ll be done in a minute. It’s all smoky and hot in here, you shouldn’t stay. Go on, get out. I’ll call you when the food is ready."

Fu Mingxue raised an eyebrow. "You don’t need my help with the fire?"

Qin Wenhao said decisively, "Nope. I can handle it myself. You should go outside!"

Seeing this, Fu Mingxue didn’t insist. After all, it wasn’t like she was dying to do the chore.
