Meng Yunhan did not want to write the IOU at all. However, when she saw Han Ruochen showing a tough attitude, she could only purse her lips and sign the IOU. anyway, she did not have a penny in her hands; even if Han Ruochen wanted to make trouble, she had to see if Meng Yunhan had money in her hands. Thinking about this, she decided to start sending her salary to Yun Xinye every month or else it would end up benefitting this wretched girl.
Han Ruochen did not care about what her mother was thinking; she took the IOU and then hurried out of the hospital. They only had a few hours left. If only she could go ahead and take the money out from the bank!
"Xuehan, you stay here with dad and see what is going on," said Han Rong as he chased after Han Ruochen. "I will go and see if I can borrow some money for dad’s treatment." Five thousand yuan, it was not a small sum; even if Han Ruochen had connections, it would be impossible for her to come up with such a big sum of money alone. At least he had to borrow two thousand yuan!
Han Xuehan nodded and then ignoring her mother and Han Ziyan, she went to look for her old grandmother. After what happened today, she did not even want to look at her mother much less talk to her. Her husband was in a life-and-death situation and yet her mother was only worried about money. No matter how bad their relationship was, Han Xuehan used to believe that her mother would take care of her father if things became difficult.
It seemed like she really overestimated her father’s position in the heart of her mother.
"Mom, what should we do?" Han Ziyan noticed the disgust in Han Ziyan’s eyes and was scared silly. She knew that now her life was going to be even harder in the Han family. Not only did her mother use up all the savings but also borrowed a high sum of money to buy a job for her. Even if she wished that Han Ruochen and the rest would keep their mouths shut, she knew that Old Madam Han would never hide the truth from Han Yichen.
What kind of impression would be left of her in front of her father after the truth was relayed to him? Just the thought alone was enough to scare Han Ziyan. She was worried that Han Yichen would abandon her. Her biological father was a useless guy and he could not do much for her at the moment. If Han Yichen stopped caring for her, then how would she survive?
"They already said that they are going to borrow some money. So it should be fine; both of them must have some connections, after all, they had been doing business for a while. I don’t believe that they won’t be able to get such a small sum of money back." Meng Yunhan was not worried. She had seen Han Ruochen and Han Yong’s skills; with their connections alone, they would be able to earn enough money to repay the debt that she had incurred plus Han Yichen’s treatment fees.
Han Ziyan frowned when she heard her mother’s response. "Mom, will that be fine?" She could not help but hesitate when she heard that her mother had no intention of taking her savings out. "If dad finds out, won’t he be disappointed?"
"That’s why we have to play smart." Meng Yunhan patted Han Ziyan on the head with just the right amount of force. "When your father wakes up, we will act as if we have tried our best to collect as much money as possible and given it to Han Ruochen and the rest."
"But what about the debt?"
"You don’t have to worry about it." Though Meng Yunhan was also worried about it, she did not believe that Han Yichen would be willing to divorce her. At most he would lose his temper with her and that would be all. Anyway, she had already borrowed the money, and Han Yichen could not do anything about it. What was more, she knew Han Ruochen would never tell the truth to her father right after the surgery.
Han Yichen had such a big surgery; no one would be foolish enough to tell him about the debt that had befallen him. They would definitely keep their mouths shut; till then, she could use her old tricks to please her husband. Meng Yunhan was not confident in anything but she was indeed confident about one thing and that was fooling Han Yichen.
Seeing that Meng Yunhan was confident, Han Ziyan also stopped worrying. Since her mother was not worried, why would she worry? She left the tasks in the hands of her mother and went to take a nap.
On the other side, while Han Ziyan was taking a sweet nap, Han Yong was running around the city, hoping for some financial help from his partners. But unfortunately for him, after his business bankrupted, no one was willing to talk with him much less lend him money. The man did not even have enough money to feed himself, how could he return their money? Thus, not only was he turned away, no one even met with him.
"These damned bastards!"
Han Yong kicked a pebble on the street; he was feeling really frustrated and given the current situation, it seemed like it was impossible for him to even get his hands on a single penny.
"Ah Yong?"
Just as he was feeling troubled and angry, a familiar voice called him from behind.
Han Yong turned to look at the person behind him and surprise flashed in his eyes. "Master? What are you doing here?"
Chef Huo pointed to the restaurant behind him and replied with a smile on his lips, "What else? I work here." After the state run restaurant stopped functioning, he could only look for job somewhere else.
Han Yong looked at the restaurant behind them and nodded. "I see."
"But what about you? What are you doing here?" Chef Huo asked conversationally.
