Chapter 360: Finally Borrowed Money
Chapter 360: Finally Borrowed Money
"Master, I–"
"Don’t be in a hurry to answer me." Chef Huo stopped Han Yong when he saw him speak. He was worried that Han Yong would refuse him, so he rushed to interrupt him. "Think about it carefully. You are not in any condition to make a decision for the time being; first, take care of your father’s surgery and then think of anything else. However, I hope that you will make this decision after thinking about what you want carefully—Ah Yong, you are really skilled when it comes to cooking; even if you don’t do business, you can always make a name for yourself by working as a chef."
He sighed and continued, "I don’t know who told your mother that being a chef is a low-grade job, and I have no intention to badmouth your mother; after all, she is your mother in the end. But ..." He frowned, thinking about the rumours that he had heard about Meng Yunhan in the past. He glanced at Han Yong and held his tongue. Even if there was any truth in those rumours, Meng Yunhan was still Han Yong’s mother, and Chef Huo had no intention of causing any rift between him and Han Yong.
He shook his head and added softly, "But you should still think of what you need to do for yourself in the future. In the end, only you will be there for yourself, Ah Yong. So, you’d better think of a plan B."
Han Yong clenched the three hundred yuan bills in his hands and looked at his master with determination in his eyes. "Thank you, Master Huo. I promise that I will return the money as soon as possible."
"No hurry. First, take care of your family affairs. You can always return the money when you have the time."
Han Yong felt his eyes sting when he heard Chef Huo’s response. He couldn’t believe that the person who came to help him would be his old master. In the past, he had helped countless of his colleagues. Even when they were in legal trouble, he had helped them turn the tide around and even if they lost their fortune, he had generously lent them money. But now that he was in trouble, none of these colleagues of his came to help him.
The one who did was his old master, whose heart he had broken!
Even though it was just three hundred yuan, they still touched his heart.
On the other side, Han Ruochen ran over to the Zhai family’s residence to look for Zhai Heng. Old Master Zhai doted on Zhai Heng and would often give him money as his pocket money. That was the only thing that could satisfy Zhai Heng. Therefore, Zhai Heng must have a lot of money to spare. Otherwise, he would not be able to help her get a licence for fishing.
At this juncture, Han Ruochen did not care if it was appropriate or not; she was only worried about her father’s life.
However, as soon as she arrived at the Zhai mansion, she saw someone she did not want to see.
"Why are you here?" Yun Tao caught Han Ruochen’s figure walking over, and his expression turned solemn. These past few days have been really hard on him. He could not even remember how many times his father had scolded him for being careless and rushing things. It was all because of this woman! If she had not interfered, then he would have been praised by his father for being sharp and witty.
"I did not come looking for you." Han Ruochen replied solemnly. As she spoke, she raised her head and looked at the Zhai mansion. However, something felt weird; even though the lights were on, it did not seem like anyone was at the Zhai mansion.
"Let me ask you, did you tell Uncle Zhou something?" Yun Tao asked as he blocked Han Ruochen from looking inside the mansion. He thought about the warning that Zhou Ziming had given him a few days ago, and his eyes were filled with hostility. He looked at Han Ruochen and sneered. "You’d better understand one thing: even if you have Zhai Heng’s backing, there will be times when you will be alone. You’d better keep your mouth shut when you have to, or else you will offend someone you cannot possibly afford to offend."
"Like you cannot afford to offend, Brother Muchen?" Han Ruochen responded coolly. She did not waste her time with Yun Tao; from the looks of it, the man was filled with vengeance, and even if she asked him for Zhai Heng’s contact, he would only tease her.
So she might as well try another way to deal with the situation!
However, as she walked toward the phone booth, she could not help but raise her head and look at the sky. There were countless relatives of the Han family who came for their help when they were in need, but when it was their turn, those people turned them away one after another. Han Ruochen could not help but feel like crying. Sure enough, in circumstances like these, even the closest relation would show its true face.
At that time, Zhai Muchen, who was resting at the army camp’s office after training a batch of new recruits, heard the phone ring. He placed the glass of warm water that he had picked up and then reached out to answer the phone. "Hello?" His deep voice sounded resonant as he answered.
"..."
There was no sound on the other end of the phone, and Zhai Muchen could hear a deep, suppressed sound of breathing, like the other person was crying. Zhai Muchen frowned. He looked at the time on the clock and then tested, "Han Ruochen?"
"B... Brother Much...Muchen..." Right after she called the name of the man, she could not help but break down completely, who would have thought that after so many twists and turns she had to ask Zhai Muchen for help?
