Chapter 510: On Her Way To Meet Someone (II)

"Brother Muchen, where are you bringing me to? What do you want me to do? Who are we going to meet?" Silence permeated the air in the car, and Han Ruochen felt uncomfortable sitting in the silence; thus, she tried to break it.

"You will know once we arrive." Zhai Muchen did not bother to explain and concentrated on getting to the destination. He was not one to talk when he was driving. After all, after staying in the army for so many years, he had developed some serious habits.

Seeing that Zhai Muchen was focusing on driving, Han Ruochen pursed her lips and fell silent. She had no choice but to take note of the paths from where they were driving through. Maybe she would be able to find out where they were heading. However, as they advanced, Han Ruochen realised that she had never driven past this road.

She pursed her lips in silence, not knowing what to do. Zhai Muchen did not seem like the kind of person who would talk while driving. Just as she was wondering what to do, Zhai Muchen handed her a book that he kept in the storage box of the dashboard. "Here, read this; I usually read it when I am bored."

Han Ruochen took the book with a startled expression. She clutched the book and then glanced down at the cover.

It was a book on military tactics.

Han Ruochen: "..."

After looking at the cover, she had no idea what to say. Sure enough, Zhai Muchen was quite different. What kind of man would hand over a book on military tactics to a woman for some light reading? No, what kind of man would read a guide to military tactics?

Fortunately, the two of them soon arrived at their destination and Han Ruochen didn’t have to worry about Zhai Muchen’s EQ because the two of them soon found a new problem.

"Wow, it is so crowded." Han Ruochen remarked while looking at the long fleet of cars. The entire road was blocked with a bunch of cars; forget about going forward and entering, she had a feeling that they couldn’t even get close to the gates of the mansion.

Zhai Muchen: "..."

Zhai Muchen had honestly anticipated that it would be packed with cars, but he never imagined that it would be so packed early in the morning. Zhai Muchen had to reverse gears. Since the front gate was blocked, they could only go inside from the back gate.

The Xu family had two gates. The front gate as well as the back one. The front gates were for everyone, while the back gates were only known to a few people who were on good terms with the Xu family. When the two of them arrived at the back gates, Han Ruochen couldn’t help but frown. These gates were even bigger than the front ones. It seemed like this family was used to seeing such a situation.

What kind of place is this, and why did he bring me here?

Han Ruochen could not help but wonder.

"It is me." Upon reaching the back gates, Zhai Muchen rolled down the windows and notified the guards of his arrival.

"So it’s you. I will open the gates right now." The guards saw that it was Zhai Muchen and opened the gate without another word. "Today is more crowded than yesterday. It seems like it is getting hard for you all to keep things under control these days."

"It’s nothing; this is our duty." One of the guards smiled and opened the gates. Though he said that, he looked pleased. It was not surprising. After all, no matter how small one’s job was, who wouldn’t want some appreciation?

"Is Uncle Xu around?"

"Yes. He is inside."

"That is good. Can you help me park the jeep?" Zhai Muchen asked as he opened the door and got out of the jeep.

Han Ruochen knew that they had arrived at their destination. She unfastened the seat belt and was about to come out of the car, but Zhai Muchen glanced at her before getting out of the jeep. Han Ruochen did not know what he meant by that, so she stayed inside the jeep.

A second later, Zhai Muchen walked over to her side and opened the door of the jeep. As if to add to the effect, he reached out to hold her hand.

Seeing this, Han Ruochen could not help but blush red. She took his hand and then got out of the jeep.

"Let’s go." Zhai Muchen took her inside the mansion as he passed the keys to the guards.

The place where Zhai Muchen brought Han Ruochen had modernised architecture that followed the European style. The architecture was white and golden. It looked bright and refreshing. Even though there was no lavish pool-like fountain in the garden, Han Ruochen was captivated by the exquisite little pond. It was made up of three layers of white porcelain urns. Water cascaded down the urns into the pond. And when she stepped close to the pond, she could see the many koi fish glittering under the sunlight.

It was still summer now, and the flowers in the garden were in full bloom.

One felt relaxed and joyful with just one glance at the garden.

Han Ruochen could not help but be in awe of the contemporary design of the building. Its design would never be outdated for years to come. It was not only magnificent but also classic and exquisite.

The owner of this house must be very rich.

Even Han Ziyan was never able to afford a house so exquisite, even when she had the sea scanning system in her hands.

Zhai Muchen stopped in his tracks, remembering how Old Master Xu had sent Han Ruochen to an early death just because of a misunderstanding. "Can you stay here? I will be back soon."

"Sure." Han Ruochen agreed at once. She was quite enjoying the view of the garden.

Zhai Muchen nodded and took his leave.

Once he was gone, Han Ruochen started to look around the entire garden. While she was enjoying the view, she did not realise that an elderly man was scrutinising her with an angry gaze, looking displeased.
