The elderly man came out from behind the pillar and stood in front of Han Ruochen. He looked her up and down and asked angrily, "How did you get into the house?"

"..." Han Ruochen paused momentarily. She had no idea why the old man who suddenly appeared was so angry. "I didn’t come here on my own; someone brought me here."

Old Master Xu’s face turned even more sullen when he heard Han Ruochen’s response. This girl was stating the obvious. If no one brought her inside, then there was no way this woman could have entered the Xu family house. The question was who brought her inside!

"I had no idea that the young ones these days have so many tricks up their sleeves." Old Master Xu could not help but remark angrily. It seemed like he had to change the guards; they were letting just about anyone inside the house now. He did not even know who this woman was, and the guards actually let her come inside. What were they even thinking? And who was the one who brought this woman inside?

"..." Han Ruochen blinked her eyes. She had no idea why this old man was lashing out at her, but she was innocent. "Grandpa, have you mistaken me for someone else?" This was her first time here. She did not know anyone in the house and couldn’t have possibly done anything to make the elderly angry.

"Do you even know who I am?" Old Master Xu asked. His tone was laden with the contempt that he felt for Han Ruochen.

"No, this is my first time here."

"First time? It is your first time?" This young lady was something; she did not even get her information checked, and yet came to his house. Did she think that becoming his disciple was that simple? Not to mention, he had already made his decision. His disciple was going to be that Han girl. "It seems like you have nothing to do now. Can you do me a favour?"

Han Ruochen frowned. "I am waiting for someone." What if she followed the old man and Zhai Muchen came looking for her? It would not be good if Zhai Muchen came back and could not find her.

"Hehehe." Old Master Xu laughed coldly. "Forget it; I will do it myself." Since this young lady was brought to the Xu family by someone, she most likely had some connections. It was no wonder that she was too arrogant to help an old man like him. Old Master Xu snorted. He turned around and brought out the new favourite that he had acquired. He was hoping to plant it in a better spot.

Han Ruochen watched the old man bustling and was undecided whether to help him or not. It was such a huge flowerpot — and that was just the flowerpot; she was not even speaking of the flowers and the soil. Was this old man looking for a new way to sprain his back?

Actually, it was not Old Master Xu’s responsibility to plant these flowers, but he was in a bad mood and wanted to do something. Hence, he decided to transplant his new favourite lilies into the garden soil. However, he truly overestimated himself. The second he tried to put up a strong front and lift up the flower pot, he realised that it was too heavy and he could not lift it at all.

Just when he was about to drop it after giving up, another pair of arms stretched out and grabbed the flowerpot. The pot suddenly became much lighter and was lifted off the ground quite easily.

"Oh, Grandpa. Don’t give up just yet. If you let go now, then I will not be able to withstand the weight on my own. If that happens, then our toes will be crushed." Han Ruochen felt a shift in the weight of the pot and shouted out in surprise. Was this old man reliable or not? Could he even handle this weight?

"Humph," Old Master Xu snorted awkwardly when he saw that Han Ruochen was the one who helped him. However, even though she was the one who helped him, he still gave her a cold shoulder.

Fortunately, Han Ruochen had a good temper. Otherwise, who would be willing to help a stranger and still receive the cold treatment? No one would be willing to help a bad, old-tempered man for no reason, only for him to scold them in return.

Since Han Ruochen had a good temper, she did not pay attention to Old Master Xu’s bad attitude. After helping him move three to four flowerpots, she sat down and no longer made any move to help him.

"Hehe, what’s the matter? Don’t tell me that you are giving up on every pretence? Have you not heard of the saying, ’Carry something through to the end’? All of you youngsters are the same. You people do not have the determination and perseverance and like to give up halfway, implicating others without knowing." There were only three more flowerpots to move, and yet she had given up. As expected, she was just pretending to help him just now.

Han Ruochen was drenched in sweat, and her clothes were sticking to her body. She was just thinking about where to find some water to drink when she was scolded by the old man again.

Han Ruochen: "..."

She had helped him move so many flowerpots, and yet she was still being scolded by him. She could not help but lose her temper. "Grandpa, are you sure you want to move so many flowerpots? They might seem lightweight to you, but that’s only because I was the one who bore the heaviest weight for you, and you only had to put your hands on the pot."

"If you still stubbornly carry these flowerpots, there is a good chance that you will not be able to get out of bed tomorrow. In fact, even the pots that you have lifted just now are more than enough. Prepare some medicinal wine and then rub it on your waist, arms and legs at night after taking a warm bath or else you will not be able to move for the entire day tomorrow."
