The sound of something heavy hitting the ground caused the two of them to pause and turn to look at the source of sound that came from behind them. Startled, the two women glanced at the source of sound and were stunned when they saw rough-looking men armed with steep pipes and thick harbour ropes along with heavy wrenches. At their centre sat Old Scar, lounging lazily on a discarded wooden crate.

His face was crossed by a jagged, thick scar that ran from his left eye down to his jawline—a souvenir from thirty years of ruling the local docks with brute force and illegal extortion.

For two decades, Old Scar had run this dock as his own personal fiefdom without a single scrap of legalwork. He collected protection fees, forced independent fishermen to sell their catches to him at robbery rates and dictated everyone on the docks. The only reason Han Ruochen was able to escape him was because Old Scar never took her seriously. In his eyes, she was just a little woman and her catch must be pitiful as well, so he simply never came to bother her.

But this time around it was different. Han Ruochen had crossed his interests and he could no longer ignore her anymore. This woman was about to challenge his authority at the docks and he couldn’t allow that to happen. So what if she had a government deed? It meant nothing to him; only muscle and iron ruled the waters in his eyes.

“Yo, Miss Han,” Old Scar drawled, spitting a wad of tobacco on the ground. He leaned forward and placed his elbows on his knees before staring down at Han Ruochen. “I heard some big shot gave you a nice paper? You better be smart and hand it over to me before turning around and leaving. I built this place with my blood. If you want to set a foot inside my turf, then you will pay with your life. This dock is mine and if someone dares to take it away, I will make sure that their boats will never set sail.”

As he finished speaking, he snapped his fingers, and the men behind him took a threatening step forward collectively. All of these men were staring down at Han Ruochen as if they were going to break every bone in her body if she tried to play with them.

Han Ruochen frowned slightly. She expected Old Scar to make trouble with her but she never thought that he was so lawless. He actually called so many thugs to deal with just two weak women. What was he even thinking? Did he really take himself as the lord of these docks and believe that even if he killed someone, nothing would happen to him?

With her sea scanning system, she was able to detect that Old Scar actually brought forty men along with him. Seeing this, she was speechless. Though Old Scar kept on saying that he did not take her seriously, looking at him, Han Ruochen had a feeling that the man was quite good at lying. Look at this: he actually brought forty men and yet he claimed that he was not scared of her.

And they all were heavily armed at that!

What was more, this man actually hid his illegal ledger in a small metal box beside a pillar of the dock right into the water and it was detected by her system. She did not know whether Old Scar was too bold or too foolish.

With her system and the inhuman strength, Han Ruochen was not worried about anything. She took a calm step forward. There was not an ounce of fear in her eyes as she stared at the group of men in front of her. The sheer pressure of her gaze was so intense that the laughing of the thugs gradually died down and they felt an instinctual chill running down their spines.

“Old Scar, do I scare you?” Han Ruochen could not help but sneer at the man. “You actually brought over forty men to deal with me. Were you afraid that I might kill you or something?” She did not believe that Old Scar had not heard about the time when she had taken on more than ten men and beat them up. Even if she was tired, she was not cornered.

“This port is now registered under the state. Which means that you cannot block entry to this berth. If you try to stop me today, then I can sue you, as your actions are nothing less than treason against the country. This property now belongs to the state officially and will be used for commercial purposes.”

Old Scar’s eyes narrowed and a flash of annoyance crossed his eyes. “Do not try to scare me with your big words; I am not scared. I don’t care if the magistrate was the one who brought the deed to you or if the docks belong to the state. All I know is as long as I shut your mouth, no one will know anything.” He had ruled the docks for so many years; he did not believe that he would not be able to deal with a little girl.

He turned to look at his men and said, “It seems like Miss Han is underestimating us. Give her a taste of what we can do; maybe then she will hand over the dock authority like a good girl.” turning to look at Han Ruochen, he couldn’t help but smirk. “I am sorry, Miss Han but I don’t like bad girls.” He only wanted to scare Han Ruochen at first but now it seemed like this woman was just as stupid as her old grandfather.

Once he finished speaking, he snapped his fingers, and two of his largest enforcers stepped forward. They took one look at Han Ruochen and then lunged at her. They swung the heavy iron pipes directly at her shoulders to intimidate her.

“SISTER RUOCHEN!”
