Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't

Chapter 635 - 631: Can’t I Hit You?

  • Next Chapter

「The next morning.」

Cecilia Sterling emerged from her room, still sleepy, and came face-to-face with Emeric Grant, who was just leaving her cousin’s room across the hall.

Remembering the fleeting touch from last night, Cecilia’s eyes almost instinctively drifted down to Emeric Grant’s waist.

The next second, a large hand loomed before her, and Emeric covered her eyes. His whisper followed right by her ear, "Well now, miss. It’s rude to stare. And in broad daylight, too."

Cecilia swatted his hand away. "You’re my man. I’ll look if I want to. Now take off your pants and let me see!"

"Huh? Who’s taking off their pants?"

Yvonne Sterling, who had poked her head out from the living room, overheard them. With a concerned look, she asked, "Cecilia, did Emeric’s pants rip? Should your aunt get a new pair of Ronald’s for him?"

Emeric pressed his lips together, holding back a laugh. Cecilia shot him a glare before quickly explaining to her aunt, "It’s nothing, Aunt Yvonne."

Just then, her uncle-in-law came out of the master bedroom holding some documents. "Cecilia, I’ve got everything you asked me to prepare. See if anything is missing."

Cecilia checked them over. "Nothing’s missing, Uncle Brendan."

Brendan Harris seemed hesitant. He looked at Cecilia and asked uncertainly, "Cecilia, will this really work? Can you really help us get the money back?"

"Don’t worry, I’ve already figured out a way." Cecilia looked at her aunt and uncle. "But I can’t do more than that. I can only help our family get its money back."

’I’m not some savior, and I’m not about to owe Mr. Jennings such a huge favor for the sake of strangers.’

In truth, over two million yuan was a trivial amount to her. But she insisted on going through all this trouble to get it back for her aunt’s family because she couldn’t dismiss something her aunt and uncle cared so deeply about just because of her own circumstances.

This money was their life’s savings, earned through a lifetime of hard work. If they just accepted the loss, they might never get over it.

So she had to do this, and she had to let her uncle see it happen with his own eyes. Only then could they truly put this matter behind them.

「9:00 AM. TrustInvest Tower, Norden District, Veridia City.」

In the underground parking garage.

Cecilia and her uncle arrived to find someone already waiting for them.

"Excuse me, are you Miss Sterling?"

Cecilia took off her sunglasses and nodded, her expression unreadable.

The person spoke respectfully, "Miss Sterling, please come upstairs with me. Director Fletcher was called into a last-minute meeting, so you may have to wait a short while."

They took the real estate company’s private elevator directly to the designated floor. Seeing this, Brendan Harris couldn’t help but realize, "So there’s a private elevator. No wonder we could never catch anyone."

His words made the staff member glance back at him, but after feeling Cecilia’s displeased gaze, the person quickly lowered their head.

Upon entering the real estate company’s office, Brendan saw the company name on the wall behind the front desk and grew agitated. "Cecilia, this is them! This is the unscrupulous company!"

Cecilia could understand her uncle’s feelings, but she didn’t say much at the moment. It wasn’t until they were alone in the reception room that she spoke. "Uncle Brendan, in a little while, try not to get too emotional. You don’t need to say much. Leave everything to me. We won’t waste any time. Once this is settled, we’ll leave."

"It can be settled today? We can get the money back?" Brendan Harris found it hard to believe.

It wasn’t that he didn’t believe in Cecilia’s abilities. Previously, a large group of them had protested downstairs, but not a single one had ever been allowed up. The fact that Cecilia had gotten him escorted up today was proof enough that she was capable.

However, Brendan knew all too well how this unscrupulous developer could stonewall and play dirty. He was afraid things wouldn’t be resolved so easily today.

But Cecilia remained calm and composed. Hearing his concern, she motioned for her uncle to sit down and wait. "Relax, Uncle Brendan. I can’t pull off any grand miracles, but getting our family’s money back won’t be a problem."

Seeing Cecilia so sure and confident, Brendan’s heart settled a little.

Just then, a portly, greasy-looking employee, whose suit seemed ready to burst at the seams, walked past the reception room. A single glance was all it took for him to spot Brendan Harris sitting inside.

His face darkened. ’How did this guy get in here?’ he thought.

’And there’s a pretty young girl next to him. His daughter?’

The fat man’s eyes darted around for a moment before he decided to push open the door and enter. The moment he did, Brendan recognized him immediately.

"You son of a bitch! I finally got my hands on you!"

The anger Brendan had just managed to suppress instantly flared up again at the sight of the man. He shot up from the sofa, lunged forward in two quick strides, and grabbed the fat man by the collar.

The fat man didn’t dodge or flinch. Facing Brendan’s fury, he seemed completely unafraid, even taunting him with a look of contempt. "Got some nerve, don’t you? Causing trouble right inside our company now?"

Brendan’s eyes were bloodshot. Staring at the disgusting face in front of him, he raised his hand to throw a punch but was stopped at the last second by Cecilia’s sharp cry, "Uncle Brendan!"

Brendan froze and turned to Cecilia. "Cecilia, this is the scumbag who tricked me! It’s him!"

The fat man shoved Brendan away and irritably straightened his rumpled shirt before sneering at him. "Watch your words. Who tricked you? Weren’t you the one who fell in love with that prime corner location and begged me to sell it to you?"

"You..."

Cecilia’s gaze turned sharp. She strode up to the man. As he looked at her beautiful face, a lecherous glint appeared in his eyes. He smirked and asked, "What? I’m telling the truth. You..."

SLAP!

Before the man could finish his sentence, a solid slap landed squarely on his face.

Cecilia had used some force, but the man was so fat that while the slap was loud, he didn’t even budge. He just stared at her, a look of pure astonishment on his face.

Brendan was also startled. He quickly moved to stand beside Cecilia, ready to protect her in case the man retaliated.

"You dare hit me?" The man snapped out of it, the lecherousness in his eyes replaced by ferocity.

Cecilia was completely unfazed, a cold smile playing on her lips. "Can’t I hit you? In a little while, you’ll be begging me to hit you."

"You..."

"Morgan Young!" A sharp voice cut in. Hearing his full name used in such a tone, the fat man stiffened. He spun around, a sycophantic, respectful smile plastered on his face. "Hello, Director!"

The director of the real estate company was named Fletcher. He walked closer and immediately noticed the red handprint on the fat man’s face, his brows furrowing. "What happened to your face?"

The fat man clutched his face and looked at Cecilia and Brendan with indignation. "It’s nothing, Director. Some troublemaking tenants actually found their way into the company. I’ll have someone throw them out right now!"

But Cecilia’s attention had already shifted to the company director. She had heard that fat pig call this man "Director."

Cecilia’s expression darkened slightly as she impatiently addressed him by his full name, "Are you Jared Fletcher?"
