Chapter 1511: End of Colossuses Part 4
Chapter 1511: End of Colossuses Part 4
10 minutes later...
The Royal Court went into a dead silence once they heard Xu Feng’s claim.
They all looked at him in disbelief.
"You’re saying you managed to invent something akin to a virus that will infect the monsters?" Aether’s expression changed.
"Not me, but a talented alchemist of mine." Xu Feng corrected. Even though he had achieved quite a feat in the herbology profession, he was still a far cry from the Inventor, Jeanette.
"Can I see the product you mentioned?" Aether asked.
"Your Majesty!" The Royal Steward was instantly alerted. How could he, the proud, loyal steward for the emperor, allow him to receive such a dangerous substance?
That would go against the very principle and vow he swore an oath on!
Aether was speechless at the royal steward’s reaction. He tried to glance at Olivia for help, only to receive a cold shoulder.
"With all due respect, Your Majesty. If anything happens to you, who would take care of the empire and its people?" She said coolly.
"Viscount Lin Feng?" Aether finally turned to him. "If I can’t verify it, there’s no way to prove your claim to be corrected and be rewarded with the promotion certification."
’This bastard!’ Xu Feng was rendered speechless at his subtle threat of not giving out the certification to promote his town.
Of course, his emotion quickly calmed down when he had already somehow anticipated this kind of reaction.
Which sane person would allow the emperor to touch a dangerous substance?
Unless they were planning on treason or rebelling, nobody would do that!
"Rest assured, Your Majesty." Xu Feng bowed and explained. "I have already done a live demonstration test using Red Forest City."
Indeed, the Red Forest City was something Xu Feng had long planned to be used as bait.
Back then, he even sent Carmen to the city to persuade the two guilds in charge to merge, namely the Phoenix Guild Leader, Purple Flame, and Riverbone Guild Leader Dusk Sky.
The two guild leaders were at each other’s throats and were subsequently suppressed by Carmen to come to an agreement.
Of course, the process became smooth because they were told that the Green Vine City, Silvercrest City, and Thornhold City had all fallen to the Colossuses and turned into a monster city.
The guilds that had their foundation and base set up there all suffered tremendously, with the lower guilds automatically disbanding, and the mid-tier guilds forced to be submissive to other higher-tier guilds.
As for those who were originally first-rate, they all demoted and became inferior to their competitors.
Only Red Forest City remained intact because Xu Feng was willing to provide enough resources for them to sustain; otherwise, it was only a matter of time before they turned into a monster city.
"Hmm, Red Forest City had been under attack as of late, but there hadn’t been any reports of them requesting reinforcement." The Royal Steward suddenly said.
As the Royal Steward, it was his responsibility to receive news and deliver it to the emperor, so he naturally would have a bit of understanding of the current situation.
After all, if the emperor asked him a question and he couldn’t respond to it, that would look very bad on his end.
"Red Forest City was under attack?" Aether was startled by the news.
How come he hadn’t received any reports of that?
He had specifically ordered that any cities or areas under attack by the Colossuses to be reported to him as soon as possible!
Could it be that the Red Forest City had turned rogue?
"Your Majesty, the Red Forest City received a large army for assistance." The Royal Steward approached the emperor and reported in a low but subtle tone.
’An Army?’ Aether’s brows furrowed. When had there been an army that wasn’t under the empire’s jurisdiction?
Moreover, to deploy them without giving him a heads up. Just who would have such a nerve to pull this kind of a maneuver under his eyes?
While the emperor only communicated with his eyes, the Royal Steward could easily determine what he meant by that alone.
He didn’t serve him so long for naught.
He simply gestured with his eyes, pointing at Xu Feng.
’Oh...’ By receiving that signal, Aether finally recalled that the City Magistrate Magnus of Star Falls City had requested him to grant a tiny army to the contributor of the city’s revival.
’Right, I did permit him to enlist a 50-person army. But how can mere 50 soldiers be enough to defend a city?’ Aether was confused by this aspect.
"Viscount Lin Feng, how exactly did you do this live demonstration?" He asked, seemingly intrigued by the process.
"I believe seeing is better than me wasting saliva." Xu Feng chuckled and shared a video. "In the screen here, my two subordinates, Lightning Blade and Blue Star, are leading the army camp to scatter the newly invented poison substance on the food source."
Sure enough, the screen displayed how the food source was being scattered in some liquid substance stored in the vials.
But what was surprising was that once these substances landed on the food, they vanished into thin air.
"Viscount Lin Feng, how much harm does this substance do to regular people?" Aether asked in a solemn tone.
"Your Majesty can relax." Xu Feng understood his concern.
"These substances are harmless to humans, including those who cannot use mana. The substance component in the content was designed to target the monster’s body structure."
Shortly after saying that, he retrieved one of the samples from his inventory.
"The Royal Steward can use this to get the Royal Academicians or those proficient in these to study."
"I’ll do it." Olivia snatched the vial away.
And before anyone could even stop her, she left the scene through a portal.
"Ehh..." Xu Feng glanced at the emperor and wondered what to do.
"You can roam around for now until Olivia gets her result."
"Then the certification?"
"It takes time to produce that because it also includes a blueprint formation to automatically expand the town." Aether rolled his eyes and exited the Royal Court.
