Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer
Chapter 1605: Esports Tournament Part 32
"Do you want to take my seat?" Wei Xing stood up and suggested.
Of course, it was meant as a joke and a way to get the audience engaged.
"I’m good." Xu Feng naturally responded to his joke and laughed.
"That area is too empty. I prefer being accompanied." He added, returning a slight jab at Wei Xing’s isolation.
Wei Xing laughed awkwardly and glanced at his seat. Indeed, it was spacious, but it was also quite lonely when one thought about it.
There was no one else beside him.
"Should I just hand over my mic?" Wei Xing changed the suggestion and continued with the joke.
It wasn’t that he wanted to insist on the joke, but currently, the Mana Storm was closing in. Players were still quite scattered after the initial landing phase, so there wasn’t much fighting going on.
Who would want to watch players scavenging for loot without any skirmishes or any sort of exciting bits?
Rather than that, Wei Xing might as well distract the audience with casual jokes between fellow guild members. Not only was it enough to keep the audience interested, but it was also a good chance to advertise the Vanguard Guild without being too obvious.
Some people in the audience might know about their affiliation, and others might not. But those who don’t would certainly be informed by others through word of mouth.
As long as he himself didn’t speak about the Vanguard Guild, he wouldn’t be considered to be going against the contract or policy.
Xu Feng also understood this concept and played along with Wei Xing. A little bit of a segment away from the event was common in such places.
Nevertheless, when the screen finally shifted to players encountering each other, both of them stopped their light conversation.
"Oh, it’s happening. High Ranker Warlord Echo is watching three people fighting at once at a high altitude." Wei Xing immediately resumed his emcee identity and exclaimed.
Warlord Echo was a popular high ranker whom many in the audience had heard about. Therefore, the moment he got into a big fight, his earpiece received the news from those working in the background to commentate on the battle.
Sure enough, the audience’s heat level index accelerated.
What was the heat level index?
It was a measurement of how hype and excited the audience was based on the volume they emitted.
Warlord Echo was someone with millions of followers on his streaming platform. His playstyle and unique perspective of the Divine World garnered him many fans and endorsements.
Most recently, he even streamed about his Legacy Quest publicly and told others how he managed to receive one.
Of course, informing the public wasn’t the same as letting them do the same Legacy Quest. Just the prerequisites alone to receive it made many give up the idea of following in his footsteps.
Although some still persisted, they ended up realizing the said NPC who was streamed live didn’t appear. Their effort and time were wasted, but they couldn’t blame it on anyone.
After all, Warlord Echo did warn his viewers that he wasn’t sure if the Legacy Quest could be repeated or accomplished through his methods.
Not an ounce of deceit or concealment was shown, which was why Warlord Echo was popular amongst his viewers.
He was a warlord who feared no one about mimicking or surpassing him.
Hence, when the audience saw Warlord taking the high ground and watching a three-way battle unfold, they were excited.
"Hey, do you think Warlord would jump down and make it a four-way fight?"
"No, that’ll be ridiculous. Why would he throw away his advantage?"
"Well, you know why. He’s not just a Warlord... but Warlord Echo. Haven’t you seen his stream?"
Those who watched Warlord Echo for a long time understood one concept.
The echo came from his desire to jump into the fight and announce his arrival, almost like an echo that occurs when surrounded by many spacious pathways.
And sure enough, Warlord Echo, being a ranker and streamer, never disappointed his viewers.
He roared thunderously and leapt from the high ground to join the fight.
"Seriously? He’s really giving up that high ground?" Carmen was stunned by the act and appeared to be flabbergasted. She couldn’t understand the strategy behind it ever since she was trained by Xu Feng in the training simulation.
"Well, there are all sorts of people in this world." Xu Feng twitched his mouth and also found the behavior foolish.
However, he must admit that the action was spectacular in gaining public approval and numerous clips.
It was a highlight that would definitely go online and become trending.
In that aspect, Warlord Echo succeeded in making his name shine and honoring his code of conduct.
"Hmm, but he’s winning." Carmen tilted her head. Although he gave up the high ground advantage, Warlord Echo wasn’t losing his edge in terms of fighting.
"He’s a ranker who calculated everything beforehand." Xu Feng commented.
"His actions might appear as rash as Juggernaut, but he knew his limit. Do you see that item in his inventory, Return Shiv?"
"Return Shiv?"
It took her a few seconds to realize what Return Shiv does again. By dropping a shiv as a mark, the player could activate the item to return to their position.
"Ah, so the Warlord was never in trouble." She clicked her tongue and found him to be more deceitful. She had overheard some of the audience members who were more familiar with him and how they clamored for him to be honorable.
But where was the honor here?
He clearly had a backup plan to save himself in case things got sticky.
"That’s just how things are." Xu Feng chuckled and explained that Warlord Echo was ultimately a human.
"Without a bit of flair, he wouldn’t have received many endorsements and viewers. He needs to entertain them while pulling off amazing feats."
Upon hearing that, Carmen nodded her head in understanding.
"He got the backup, but his skills aren’t false." She rubbed her chin and saw that the three players were killed by Warlord Echo.
All along, she had only fought with guild players, but this was her first time seeing a ranker playstyle. It was unorthodox and unpredictable.
