Remarriage Failed Again Today

Chapter 771: Then Go Die 2

  • Next Chapter

This was something Annabelle Linton and Leona Grant had never known. They’d been in the dark all along.

That was why Leona Grant’s distrust in Annabelle Linton grew, slowly morphing into disgust.

‘Just think about it. Their relationship had been propped up by trust, and bit by bit, that trust eroded completely. How could Leona Grant ever grow to like Annabelle Linton after that?’

Besides, it wasn’t as if her schemes were just petty squabbles. Add to that how incredibly gullible Annabelle Linton was back then, and of course, she succeeded every time.

This was also why Annabelle Linton had held on for so long. Leona Grant had been truly good to her when they were children; it’s just that he later forgot everything. But those memories hadn’t actually vanished completely.

‘When Annabelle Linton was about to marry Aaron Wyatt, Leona Grant attempted suicide. The shock of it all made him remember everything, didn’t it?’

Later on, Leona Grant’s hatred for Annabelle Linton had reached its peak, with no room left to grow. It was safe to say he despised her, to the point where a single glance filled him with disgust.

And it was all thanks to her.

‘It’s far quicker for a person to come to hate someone than it is for them to fall in love.’

‘It’s like how it takes three years to learn to be good, but only three days to learn to be bad.’

‘Good things are always so hard to maintain.’

In the blink of an eye, they reached the age to get married. The two of them already had an arranged engagement, and the old man naturally did his best to set them up.

But just when she thought Leona Grant would absolutely refuse to marry Annabelle Linton, he married her anyway.

Yes, he resisted. He struggled. But in the end, he married her.

‘But given Leona Grant’s personality, if there’s something he doesn’t want to do, absolutely no one in this world can force him.’

At that moment, she thought, ‘Human emotions really are a curious thing. Even though he was so disgusted by her, he could still bring himself to marry her. Wasn’t that just a subconscious act?’

‘She had been too naive. If Leona Grant truly loathed Annabelle Linton that completely, if he didn’t have a single shred of affection for her, why would he have married her?’

‘Sure enough, the human heart is the most complicated thing there is. You can never judge anything by its surface.’

After they got married, she worked even harder to sow discord, and just as planned, Leona Grant grew even more disgusted with Annabelle Linton, to the point that he wouldn’t even come home.

She grew even more smug.

But she had never expected that after she framed Annabelle Linton for pushing her down the stairs a few months ago, everything would change.

‘It must have been what the doctors called trauma, I suppose.’

Annabelle Linton was no longer the person she thought she had completely under her thumb. It was as if she had become a completely different person.

And it was as if Annabelle understood her completely, knowing what she was about to do with just a single glance.

Though on the surface she acted dismissive and unconcerned, she was actually starting to panic.

The only reason she had been able to frame Annabelle Linton so successfully was that Annabelle cared far too much about Leona Grant’s feelings. No matter what happened, she always put him first. But the Annabelle after that incident was different; she no longer cared about Leona Grant’s feelings at all.

And so, slowly, ever since Annabelle Linton stopped caring about Leona Grant’s feelings, she gradually found herself at a disadvantage.

Meanwhile, Leona Grant was slowly being drawn in by Annabelle Linton, becoming more and more fascinated. She could only watch from the sidelines, powerless to do anything but fret.

She was afraid that Leona Grant would fall in love with Annabelle Linton all over again. She was even more afraid that they would reconcile. If that happened, she would be finished.

But that day had finally come.
