Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 770: Then Go Die 1
Chapter 770: Chapter 770: Then Go Die 1
Vivian Yates looked at him, a faint, hazy look in her eyes.
The first time she saw Leona Grant, she was very, very young—around ten years old. Her mother took her to visit the Grant Family, and from the moment she laid eyes on him, she fell hopelessly in love.
Leona Grant was a truly, truly good person.
Even though he was cold and aloof, he always treated his friends very well—exceptionally well.
In a way, that made him even more attractive.
He was good to a lot of people: his sister, Xylas Shepherd, Nathaniel Locke, and... he was very good to Annabelle Linton, too.
No, he was best to Annabelle Linton. It wasn’t an obvious kind of affection, but all in all, she was a special case in his eyes.
Her mother was actually very close with Roxanne Jennings’ mother.
It was likely because, a long time ago, Roxanne’s maternal grandmother had done a great favor for Leona Grant’s maternal grandmother—Vivian couldn’t recall the specifics. Plus, Roxanne herself was a very loyal person, and the two mothers had always gotten along splendidly. The Yates Family didn’t have much money back then, so the Grant Family supported them a great deal.
During that period, her mother was constantly taking her to the Grant Family’s home to network. That’s how she gradually got to know the circle of people around Leona Grant, as well as Annabelle Linton.
Even though Annabelle Linton didn’t have a mother back then and, it seemed, no one to love her, her family was incredibly wealthy—so wealthy you could say they were on par with the Grant Family.
Do you know what it feels like, at that young age, to be able to just point at whatever you want and have someone deliver it right to you?
What could a little kid possibly like at that age?
Pretty much just beautiful dresses, all kinds of toys, and tons of friends. Annabelle Linton had all of that, and she had none of it.
To be honest, back then, she was jealous.
Annabelle Linton, to be fair, was very kind. Or pure. Or maybe just stupid, Vivian didn’t know.
But she had to admit, Annabelle was genuinely well-liked.
After she got to know their group, she, too, had just wanted to be their friend at first. But a person’s ambition is a black hole that can never be filled—especially hers.
Gradually, she became dissatisfied. She started to complain about society, about the world, and even about life itself.
For a while, she was just wallowing in misery. It lasted about half a year, maybe longer, she couldn’t remember. She just knew it was incredibly tough, and she’d almost fallen into a depression.
But she eventually got better. And she had changed.
But emotions always need an outlet, and Annabelle Linton naturally became that outlet.
She began to pour all her hatred and all the frustrations of her life onto Annabelle Linton.
Of course, she felt a little bit of guilt at first, but after doing it so many times, she just went numb... On the contrary, it even became a little thrilling.
But Leona Grant’s trust in Annabelle Linton was just too absolute. How absolute?
So absolute that when she framed Annabelle Linton for stealing, even when she revealed a woman’s ugliest side to him, he still chose to believe her. He would even silently clean up the mess for her, all without Annabelle knowing a thing.
That was when she began to hate Annabelle Linton even more, and her affection for Leona Grant grew even deeper.
But Leona Grant’s feelings for Annabelle Linton ran too deep; there was simply no way for her to destroy their bond.
So, she started to slowly put a drug in Leona Grant’s water—the kind that imperceptibly erases past memories. All the while, she continued to frame Annabelle Linton.
This way, as their bond was slowly worn down, Leona Grant’s perception of Annabelle Linton also began to subtly change. At the very least, he no longer trusted her as completely as he once did.
