Chapter 789: Chapter 789: Found the Antidote 2

Annabelle Linton’s surgery lasted for several hours and didn’t end until that evening.

She had been saved. She was out of danger, but she needed to rest properly.

Furthermore, her body was severely depleted. At this rate, she probably wouldn’t last three months...

Everyone fell silent at these words.

After a moment, the medical team went back inside to observe her, take notes, and use their instruments to measure Annabelle Linton’s physical condition, monitoring for any incompatibilities or adverse reactions from the injected antidote.

This was an experimental result that Annabelle Linton had nearly paid for with her life; they had no right to treat it with anything less than the utmost seriousness.

Throughout the entire process, Quentin Holland was surprisingly calm.

He just sat there with a blank expression, not saying a single word.

When Annabelle Linton woke up, it was already the next day.

Her hearing was fine, but because her eyes had bled, they were now incredibly bloodshot.

The doctor who had treated her was her senior, Simon Moss.

To prevent any bacterial infection, he had wrapped her eyes in gauze.

Her vision itself wasn’t damaged, but her eyes were completely bloodshot and her sight was blurry.

Simon Moss said this was a normal side effect of the antidote and that her retinas and blood vessels were indeed fine.

As long as she rested well, there would be no lasting issues. The gauze could be removed in three days.

Annabelle Linton sat propped up against the headboard, facing the window.

Even though all she could see was darkness, she subconsciously tried to look outside.

’She longed for freedom, for a normal life under the sun, but all of that had clearly become an impossible dream.’

’Her life was slipping away at light speed. Soon, she would have to leave this world...’

With her eyes unable to see, her attention automatically shifted to her hearing.

She could feel someone slowly approaching from behind without needing to see.

She turned her head slightly toward the source of the sound.

A flash of pain crossed Quentin Holland’s eyes as he looked at her.

He stared at Annabelle Linton in a daze, finding it hard to accept the reality of her condition.

’An image of the old Annabelle Linton appeared in his mind—so bright and beautiful. But now... now she looked like this...’

The rims of Quentin Holland’s eyes reddened slightly. He let out a breath, composed himself, and slowly walked over to her.

"Your eyes are fine. We can take the gauze off in three days. For now, just rest and don’t think about anything."

Annabelle Linton was silent for a moment after hearing this.

After a long pause, she faced him and asked in a low, hoarse voice, "How much time do I have left?"

Quentin Holland froze.

Even though her eyes were wrapped in gauze and she couldn’t see a thing.

But he could still sense the conviction behind her gaze.

Quentin Holland pressed his lips together. He walked over, poured her a glass of water, placed it in her hands, and said calmly, "Why are you asking that? You need to rest right now, not let your imagination run wild."

"Quentin, you don’t have to hide anything from me anymore." Annabelle Linton lowered her head, her voice turning bleak. "I know my own body. Throughout these experiments, I could clearly feel myself getting weaker day by day... COUGH, COUGH, COUGH, COUGH, COUGH..."

She coughed a few times, then steadied her breathing. "I know I don’t have much time left. I probably won’t even make it three months. You don’t have to spare my feelings. I just want to know the truth so I can make arrangements for what comes after. In case I die, Leona Grant..."

"You’re not going to die!"

Before Annabelle Linton could even finish, Quentin Holland shot to his feet, cutting her off firmly.
