Remarriage Failed Again Today
Chapter 788: Found the Antidote (Part 1)
But then, did she have any choice but to take this risk?
Taking the risk could kill her, but it offered a sliver of hope.
Not taking it would also kill her, but with no hope at all.
Annabelle Linton was silent for a moment before saying with a smile, “Because I don’t want to just wait around to die. Even if I’m going to die, I want to go down fighting, giving it my all. If I still die after all that, I’ll have no regrets.”
Quentin Holland looked at her. Her face was set with determination.
He wanted to say something, but in the end, he said nothing at all. …
Annabelle Linton’s fourth drug trial began.
Her arms were already covered in needle marks, and now there was one more.
Because of the cold weather, she was wearing more layers, and the injection sites were high up on her arms. Annabelle Linton had even dabbed some makeup over the marks, which was why Leona Grant hadn’t noticed them.
If he had, he would have surely grown suspicious.
She sat there numbly, waiting for the drug to take effect.
The drug took effect quickly. Soon, blood began to drip from Annabelle Linton’s nose, and her face slowly paled.
Unlike the bone-chilling cold of the last time, this time she felt an intense, searing heat.
Within moments, she felt as if her whole body was on fire, like she had been thrown into a massive furnace.
This was the severe consequence of not testing on lab mice first; there was no way of knowing what risks and reactions there would be.
Annabelle Linton’s brows furrowed deeply. She gripped her arms, bowing her head as she tried to suppress the feeling.
Just like last time, it was bearable at first, but the longer it went on, the more unbearable it became.
She knelt on the floor, gasping for breath.
Outside the glass room, the staff raced against time, rapidly taking notes. Quentin Holland watched her anxiously, unable to hide the tension in his eyes.
Annabelle Linton held on for a while, but eventually, she couldn’t even kneel anymore and collapsed to the floor, writhing.
The people outside watched her with heartache, their hearts filled with immense pity.
Large beads of sweat dripped down Annabelle Linton’s face. She looked like she was in extreme agony.
Suddenly, her eyes slowly lost focus, and her pupils dilated.
Just then, the unthinkable happened!
Blood slowly began to stream from Annabelle Linton’s eyes, nose, and ears. The sight was terrifying.
Quentin Holland and the recorders outside were all stunned for a moment, then rushed into the glass room together.
All Annabelle Linton could perceive was a world of crimson. She couldn’t hear anything, and she couldn’t see anything.
Everything went dark, a dizzying swirl of crimson and black. The world seemed to be spinning without end.
Her eyes were open, but she saw nothing before her.
Finally, she slowly closed her eyes and passed out.
…
Learning from the previous trials, a medical team was already on standby outside, ready for any emergency.
They were there in case Annabelle Linton’s life was endangered, allowing them to provide immediate intervention.
While Annabelle Linton was receiving emergency treatment inside, the others sat outside, waiting in restless anxiety.
For them, every second was torture.
No one knew what the outcome of the treatment would be, or what aftereffects might linger.
Even though this wasn’t the first time, everyone’s heart was still heavy.
Because just now, aside from her mouth, Annabelle Linton had been bleeding from her nose, her ears, and her eyes…
This was the first time something like this had happened…
Time ticked by, second by second. Annabelle Linton’s emergency procedure lasted for several hours.
