Chapter 78: Another Visit (1)

Ethan locked the door behind him and turned to his wife and daughter with a smile.

"Where are we going?" Nora asked curiously.

Her parents still hadn’t told her, so she was clueless and puzzled.

"We’re going to visit grandpa and grandma. Once you resume school, you might not be able to see them for a long while so let’s visit them one last time, alright?" Ethan answered, pulling a small luggage box behind him.

They walked towards the gate where a taxi was waiting for them. After locking the gates, Ethan packed the box into the trunk and got into the backseat with the others.

The driver glanced at them. "Train station?"

Ethan nodded. "Yep. Drive safely and quickly."

"Understood." The man nodded, turning the keys and starting the car. Soon, they got onto the streets and drove off.

The train station wasn’t really far from the Cold River District. With the taxi driving them, it took less than an hour to get there—a little early for their scheduled departure.

Ethan, Evelyn, and Nora had to wait for almost another hour before they could get onto the train.

Having booked for seats online, Ethan led them into the vehicle toward their seats.

Nora sat between them just like he had planned. Soon, the announcement was made and a staff member came up to them to verify their tickets.

Ethan handled that again, then turned to Evelyn. "Looks like it’s a K-drama today. Interested?"

Evelyn glanced at the screen in front of her, then nodded. "I will. The last one was pretty interesting."

Ethan smiled. Nora wasn’t feeling sleepy either, so she watched the movie with her mother.

On the other hand, he barely paid any attention to the movie, so he switched to surfing the internet. He managed to see news that once again reminded him of events in his past life.

’By 2059, I’ll be close to 80 years old...’

Thinking about that, his lips twitched. Scrolling through the internet was boring, as his feed had no comedy or entertainment.

After half an hour, he got bored and pocketed his phone. Evelyn noticed and glanced at him with a smile.

"You want to watch too?"

Ethan nodded and focused on the movie. To his surprise, it was actually a pretty good one.

The main character had been a victim of bullying, until he got dragged into a study group of weird transfer students. There, they trained him—academically and physically.

Slowly, he started fighting back against the bullying. He gradually became confident as he progressed, settling scores with his old bullies and ensuring no one else gets bullied.

Before Ethan realized it, they had gotten at their destination. The journey from Cold River District to his parents’ home only took an hour.

"Alright. Let’s go." He stood up and led his family off the train.

Evelyn hummed regretfully. "That movie was peak. Sadly, we couldn’t get to finish it."

Nora nodded too, interested in the movie.

Ethan pulled her close, resting a hand on her shoulder. "I already memorized the title at the beginning. So you don’t have to worry."

Evelyn’s black eyes shone with stars, and she planted a quick kiss on his cheek.

"Thank you, Ethan!"

He smiled and nodded. Nora was quiet but still pleased. They made their way out of the train station, where they found Jason and Maria waiting for them.

The old couple smiled at them. "Welcome!"

Just like the last time, Jason booked a taxi to take them home. Ignoring the vehicle for a moment, Ethan stepped forward and gave his parents a warm hug.

Although Jason seemed displeased, he still accepted the hug and patted his back. Maria picked up her granddaughter and smiled at Evelyn.

"I’m happy you decided to visit us again."

Evelyn smiled bashfully. "Thanks for having us."

"Alright, alright." Jason clapped. "Let’s get going."

They all got into the taxi, with Ethan entering last after putting the luggage in the boot.

The ride home was warm and peaceful. Well, at least for Evelyn and Nora. Ethan sat beside the driver, while the others sat at the back.

When they finally arrived at the apartment, Ethan got down first and went to get their luggage.

Then, he paid the driver while Jason opened the gate to the house.

"Is the dog still alive?" Ethan asked as they entered.

Jason shot him a glare and answered. "No. Do you want him dead?"

"No." Ethan shook his head with a short laugh.

Behind him, Maria chuckled. "Well, we locked him up so he wouldn’t scare little Nora this time. He’s being an old bully lately."

Nora rolled her eyes, unnoticed by anyone. ’Me? Scared of a dog? Ptui! These people have no idea of who I am.’

Soon, they entered into the house and settled in the living room.

Ethan, Evelyn, and Nora sat opposite Jason and Maria, all relaxed.

"How have you been doing? I hope my son isn’t giving you any trouble," Jason said, smiling at Evelyn.

Ethan’s lips twitched, but he said nothing. Instead, he gave a relaxed smile that seemed to irk his father.

Evelyn shook her head. "No, Father. Ethan has been helping me all the time."

Jason blinked in surprise, then glanced at his son suspiciously. After a while, he broke into a smile.

"Well, I raised him, after all. He has to be a good one."

Maria gently elbowed him. "We raised him together. Don’t forget that."

Evelyn covered her lips and laughed quietly. Crossing his legs, Ethan looked at his mother and asked, "Has Dad been good lately?"

Jason froze, then shot Ethan a dangerous look.

Ethan ignored him and focused on his mother.

Maria glanced at her husband, then said, "Well, other than the fact that he has been pretty active lately, there has been no other problems."

Jason suddenly started coughing. He immediately stood up, rushing to the kitchen to get some water.

Evelyn didn’t understand at first, but it didn’t take long for her to get it. Her cheeks reddened slightly, and she lowered her head.

Meanwhile, Nora scoffed in her heart. ’These old people still talking about being active. Shouldn’t they be resting already? Tsk.’
