Chapter 1163: Chapter 1135: Someone Suddenly Craves Spicy Peppers

Qian was tormented by a dream that she wasn’t sure was a nightmare or some kind of hint, keeping her awake for half the night. As a result, she went to school the next day with dark circles under her eyes and a displeased expression, making those junior students have a rough time during the class Mr. Liu had her teach.

But this did not improve Qian’s mood, and her dissatisfaction continued all the way to Qiuqiu’s house.

Qiuqiu’s dad moved to Lishi because he wanted Qian to look after him, leaving the southern mines to Qiuqiu.

Qiuqiu was like a flying man, running between two places, showcasing his business talents as he not only managed the mines well but also expanded the family business in other directions over the months.

When Qian arrived, Qiuqiu’s dad was playing with a parrot, in a very good mood.

Qiuqiu had just called saying that he had closed another big business deal, making his dad so happy that he couldn’t keep the joy to himself and started teaching the parrot to mimic.

Seeing Qian arrive, Qiuqiu’s dad quickly set down the birdcage to greet her.

"Mr. Chen, come quickly! See how our Zhaodi mimics, come on, Zhaodi, say ’Father’s love is as deep as a mountain’!"

The bird stayed silent.

Qiuqiu’s dad was so annoyed that he tapped the birdcage, "I fed you so many sunflower seeds for nothing, how can you be so dumb? Mr. Chen, do you think I spent thousands on a stupid bird? Why doesn’t it speak after all this time teaching it?"

Qian walked up to the birdcage and said to the white cockatoo, "Hanzi, speak!"

The parrot, which had been silent until now, promptly obeyed Qian’s command, speaking in a precise parrot voice.

"Times have changed, men and women are the same!"

Qiuqiu’s dad was petrified.

"Hanzi, continue!" Qian commanded again.

"Ideas change with the times, daughters are also descendants!"

Qiuqiu’s dad’s worldview was upended from that point on.

When did she rename the bird and secretly teach it all those slogans from that period?

"As the saying goes, a long road tests a horse’s strength, and time tells a person’s heart. Even a bird understands this, yet you don’t. I must say I’m disappointed."

Qiuqiu’s dad felt overwhelmed.

"Mr. Chen, I’m a terminal patient, aren’t you supposed to be treating me? Now you’re provoking me, I’m having an episode, really having an episode!"

Qiuqiu’s dad clutched his chest, pretending to be unwell.

"I’ve just talked with your attending physician, no need to pretend."

Qian wasn’t scared at all.

Speaking of this, Qiuqiu’s dad, feeling both happy and grateful, said.

"Mr. Chen, I really have to thank you for this. I went to get a checkup yesterday, and even the doctors were amazed that things were under such good control."

"It’s something you have to come to terms with yourself, I just played a supportive role."

"You’re instrumental, but when it comes to coming to terms, I’ve felt particularly great lately. What do you think of my Qiuqiu? Isn’t he a business prodigy?" Qiuqiu’s dad got so excited thinking about Qiuqiu.

Handing the mines over to Qiuqiu was definitely the right decision, seeing the child capable of taking charge couldn’t make a parent prouder, and thinking of this brought a broad smile to Qiuqiu’s dad’s face.

The old man had gained some weight lately, looking incredibly well, not like someone with a terminal illness.

Qian glanced at him and sighed helplessly.

The old man was content, but thinking of Qiuqiu’s troubles, she heard that Qiuqiu had lost several pounds recently.

There’s always someone who builds their happiness on someone else’s suffering.

By the time she finished treating Qiuqiu’s dad, it was already evening. As she drove by the night market and saw all the food stalls, she realized she was a bit craving. It had been ages since she’d eaten these snacks.

She parked the car by the side and was about to go buy some to take home when the smell of grilled squid wafted over, suddenly making her feel a bit nauseous.

Normally, the aroma of food on a cold winter night would be especially appetizing, but today it was uncomfortable, so Qian gave up the idea of buying snacks and got back in the car. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

After drinking some lemon water, her stomach felt slightly better. On the way back, she saw a duck neck shop about to close up, and the red chili peppers on the sign strangely appealed to her.

Yu Minglang came home from work to find his wife’s small table covered with various plastic bags, while his wife was being chased by a dog.

"Sit," Yu Minglang commanded, and only then did the dog sit down, but it still looked aggrieved and distressed.

Knowing she’d caused trouble, Qian stood on the sofa, trying hard to act like a passerby.

"What’s wrong with Meiren?"

Yu Minglang saw his dear Meiren with a stream of painful expression, patting it to signal that it could move freely, and it immediately rushed to the water bowl and drank heavily.

Qian awkwardly cleared her throat, "It’s not my fault. It was just greedy..."

"Did you feed it something it shouldn’t eat?" Yu Minglang raised an eyebrow, sniffing slightly in the air, as a strong scent of marinade wafted from the plastic bags on the small table.

He walked over and pinched a piece to taste, instantly understanding why his poor Meiren was indignantly chasing Qian.

"You fed it something spicy?!"

And not just spicy, it was devillishly hot!

Qian looked at the ceiling, pretending to be invisible.

"It was its own greed."

Some dogs are such teasers, watching people eat with drool and being adorable beside you, then getting angry and chasing you when you give them some. Qian felt wronged too.

"Chen Xiaoqian, can’t you be a bit more sensible?"

"Who would’ve thought that dogs are so dumb, they can’t even smell the pepper?" She just handed it one, who knew the silly thing would actually eat it.

"You..." Yu Minglang shook his head, lovingly going to check on his puppy. After Meiren downed a bowl of water, it lay there, pitifully licking its mouth, clearly spicy.

Qian, knowing she was wrong, sat obediently on the sofa watching him coax Meiren. Barely a few minutes passed before she felt hungry again.

When Yu Minglang turned around, he saw his wife sneaking towards the table with a bottle of white wine. He pretended not to notice her, wanting to see what this little woman was up to.

Qian deftly opened the bottle and poured the wine. The aroma of the wine overflowed, pairing with the deliciously spicy marinade, making it the ultimate joy.

The duck head was so spicy it practically numbed the tongue, but eating it was exceptionally satisfying. Qian took a bite, and her little hand moved to grab the wine glass to take a sip, but before it reached her lips, the direction of her hand changed.

Yu Minglang grabbed the hand holding the wine glass and brought it to his mouth, drinking it all in one go while it was still in her hand.

"I’ll get you a glass; let’s have a drink together," Qian filled another empty glass, filling this one too.

But unexpectedly, he took both glasses to his side, stretching out on the tatami.

"What are you doing!" How could he be so shameless, leaving her some wine, yet he wanted it all!

"You’ve eaten so much spicy food, it’s better not to drink, it will upset your stomach."

Qian pouted unhappily, "I don’t even have a stomach problem, eating and drinking a bit, and you still have to manage that!"

"If you want to drink, drink tomorrow, just don’t drink today. Drinking with such spicy food will burn your stomach. Tomorrow I’ll make some dishes that go well with drinks, and you little wine-lover can drink—wife, why did you suddenly think of buying such spicy stuff today?"
