Nong Yao returned to the villa on this side of Qio Yu Xuan, and upon pushing open the door, he was somewhat surprised to see two people already sitting inside.

“Huh? Old man, when did you return? And Huaoli, why are you here too?”

At this moment, Qio Yu Xuan was sipping tea with Mu Hualili, and he smiled slightly upon seeing Nong Yao come in.

“I finished things ahead of schedule. How’s Qian doing? Any problems with her studies recently?”

“Her studies are fine. You know her comprehension and insight are amazing, but recently she’s run into a little problem, which is—” Nong Yao glanced at Qio Yu Xuan, and Mu Hualili quickly stood up.

“Uncle, I heard you have a batch of good wood, where is it? I’ll go take a look.”

Qio Yu Xuan understood there was something Nong Yao wanted to say privately, so he took Nong Yao upstairs.

Once in the study with the door closed, Nong Yao’s face turned serious.

“She’s been dreaming about that thing recently.”

“Which thing?”

“The one you most hoped she’d forget. She said she dreamed of the earthen bed in the urban village and even mentioned your name under deep hypnosis.”

Upon hearing this, Qio Yu Xuan became serious too, but he didn’t show too much surprise.

“She’s always been a smart kid. Sisi’s appearance must have triggered her memory, which led to such dreams. Was anyone else present when she mentioned my name?”

“Yu Xiaoqiang was there too.”

Qio Yu Xuan sighed upon hearing Yu Minglang’s name, “You fool, how could you let him be there?”

With Qian’s intelligence already being hard to deal with, adding Yu Minglang’s animal-like instinct made Qio Yu Xuan feel things were heading in an uncontrollable direction.

“I had hypnotized her halfway; Yu Minglang fell asleep because he appeared indifferent from beginning to end. I need some time to remove deep hypnosis; I don’t know if he fell asleep out of boredom while waiting.” Nong Yao had been pondering these matters all the way here.

Qio Yu Xuan shook his head, “You’re too naive. If he were that easy to deal with, how could he become a legend in so many people’s eyes? Have you ever seen someone his age reach this position?”

“What’s so legendary? I usually see him being scolded by Chen Xiaoqian all the time…” Nong Yao really couldn’t understand why his master held Yu Minglang in such high regard.

“Those are mere appearances. The more powerful someone is, the more they hide their abilities. If he’s been pretending to sleep, then those two youngsters are likely discussing how to extract the truth from me, hahaha. Qian is the cutest; I find it adorable just thinking about her trying her best to suspect me. It’s a joy watching my little girl grow up, becoming more clever step by step.”

Nong Yao had a black line on his forehead, “Of all times, could you stop just praising? They’re almost uncovering the truth, and you’re not anxious! How about I go there tomorrow and wipe her mother’s memory?”

“Look at you, getting all anxious! Qian would give you the time to act? If I’m right, she must be arranging for someone to pick up her mother, to guard against you!”

Ah! She’s becoming refined, Nong Yao was getting extremely anxious, what to do!

Nong Yao’s extreme anxiety was greatly replaced by dissatisfaction due to Qio Yu Xuan’s calm demeanor.

“No need to do anything to her mother.”

Nong Yao understood upon hearing this.

“You’ve already taken precautions?”

“Indeed.” Qio Yu Xuan nodded.

“Why didn’t you say so earlier, scared me into a cold sweat. I was worried the secret would be exposed. When did you act?”

“Earlier, when I met her mother.”

“Phew, a false alarm, now I can sleep peacefully.”

Nong Yao thought the matter was settled, but Qio Yu Xuan stopped him.

“Come back. Although you don’t need to do anything to her mother, you still need to go to her home tomorrow. If her mother arrives, then you must immediately head to Q City. If her mother does not arrive, you don’t need to go.”

“Why go to Q City, is it—Chen Lin?”

Qio Yu Xuan yawned, “You handle it, make sure it’s clean.”

Nong Yao nodded.

Seeing Qio Yu Xuan heading out, he suddenly called out to him.

“I’m starting to believe it.”

“Believe what?” Qio Yu Xuan asked lazily, as if he hadn’t just solved a tricky problem but merely a trivial matter.

Nong Yao looked at him, from his earliest memories, the old man always had such a nonchalant expression, no matter how big the issue was, it never made him overly anxious. The only thing that ever changed the old man’s emotions was matters concerning Chen Xiaoqian. And this nonchalant yet decisive feeling, Nong Yao saw it in one other person.

That person was Qian.

“Believe what?” Qio Yu Xuan asked.

“Believe she’s your daughter. Old man, you know, initially I felt your experiment back then couldn’t succeed, and I was skeptical about that brat’s origins. The reason I helped you erase the memories of knowledgeable people worldwide was just to cheer you up. Until—”

“Until what?”

“Until I got in touch with that brat, then I believed. That annoying confidence and calculated decisiveness, she’s exactly like you. A just-starting young girl, devising ways to occasionally trick me despite the disparity in strength. This light-hearted attitude is truly identical to yours.”

Interacting with Qian felt like seeing a younger version of the old man. Given time, when she learned all there is, Nong Yao felt he might not be a match for her.

Upon hearing Nong Yao’s words, Qio Yu Xuan put his hand on the door and went out, with a trace of an accomplished smile on his lips.

“Nonsense, can’t you see whose child she is!”

The next day, Qian’s mom arrived as promised, because Yu Minglang had arranged for someone to pick her up. So she brought a whole heap of things, filling not only the trunk but also the back seats. Despite having not been apart for long since Qian last returned from Q City with a bunch of stuff that she hadn’t finished eating, Qian’s mom, fearing her daughter might not have enough to eat, brought even more.

“Come, come, young man, help Auntie carry these up. Qian, look how lucky you are. Can you guess what Mom bought today? Look, such big sea prawns! Haha, just got off the boat and I bought them, though the boat owner wasn’t pleased, wanting to keep them for his grandson, but I snatched them away. And this, this…”

Qian’s mom directed a young security guard to help carry things upstairs, proudly introducing them to her daughter.

The guard looked on enviously and said, “Ma’am, Auntie is so good to you; whenever I see her, I think of my mom. Every time I go home, she prepares things like this for me. Aye, I miss my mom too. Auntie, you must have spent quite a bit on these things?”

“Money is no issue when it comes to the kids, how much can they eat? Family couldn’t afford these before when we were poor. Now things are better, and while I can’t buy her airplanes or cannons, buying some food is doable—Qian, what’s wrong?”

Qian’s mom noticed Qian’s expression seemed sorrowful and quickly asked.

“Is it that you don’t like what Mom brought? Or not enough space to store them?”

“No… Mom, thank you!”

At this moment, Qian actually wanted to cry a little.
