A group of his subordinates beside him played along, glaring fiercely at Zeng Kemeng.

How could a young girl like Zeng Kemeng withstand such a scene?

She immediately grew pale with fright and hid behind Zhu Zifeng.

At the critical moment, Qin Tuo spoke up and stopped them.

"She’s just a girl. It was a slip of the tongue, is this really necessary?"

Qin Tuo frowned and spoke coldly.

Though he had been acting friendly, that didn’t mean he had no temper.

Sun Haicheng snorted coldly and said,

"You actually brought all these irrelevant people along. Does this mean you don’t take this operation seriously? When the time comes, don’t you dare drag us down!"

Sun Haicheng had disliked Qin Tuo for a while and was looking for an excuse to cause trouble.

But Qin Tuo just waved his hand dismissively and said,

"You guys go check out the temple on the mountainside first. I’m going to take a look around the back of the mountain."

Both Zhu Zifeng and Zeng Kemeng’s expressions grew worried.

Zhu Zifeng couldn’t help but ask,

"Mr. Qin, are you sure you want to act alone?"

Qin Tuo nodded and said,

"It’s fine. You go to the temple first. I’ll join you after I take a look."

Seeing that Qin Tuo had made up his mind, Zhu Zifeng didn’t insist.

Sun Haicheng, however, had reluctance written all over his face. He didn’t even bother to acknowledge Qin Tuo.

"What, did you not hear what I said?"

Qin Tuo couldn’t help but ask again.

Sun Haicheng and his men glared, about to talk back.

However, when Sun Haicheng remembered the Grand Pavilion Master’s repeated warnings before they left, he could only agree reluctantly...

Afterward, Sun Haicheng led his group and headed up the mountain first.

As for Qin Tuo, he went around to the back of the mountain alone to see if he could find any useful clues.

"Mr. Qin, be careful!"

Zhu Zifeng shouted from a distance.

Qin Tuo nodded, then vanished from everyone’s sight.

"Hmph, that kid is too arrogant, daring to act alone. Does he think he’s stronger than all of us combined?"

A member of the Security Pavilion said with disdain.

Sun Haicheng said coldly,

"Just let him act on his own. If something happens to him, it’s not our responsibility."

As they spoke, the group arrived at a temple on the mountainside.

Looking up, they saw that although the temple wasn’t large, there were quite a few worshippers both inside and out.

Now that they were closer, they could hear the worshippers lavishing praise, saying there was a master inside whose divination skills were incredible.

"Let me tell you, this master’s divination abilities are second to none! I’ve experienced them several times myself. Why haven’t you seized the opportunity to consult him?"

A worshipper stood at the entrance, speaking with great animation, making the others who had come seeking his fame even more eager.

Seeing this, Zeng Kemeng immediately pulled the man aside and asked,

"Oh, you say there’s a master inside who’s amazing at fortune-telling. Is that true?"

The man said without hesitation,

"Of course! This master is practically a living god. His fortune-telling skills are simply unmatched!"

Hearing this, Zeng Kemeng snorted, a little indignant.

One had to know, she herself was an expert in physiognomy. And that was to say nothing of her father, Zeng Changkong, a true master of the art, nicknamed Zeng Yiyan. That reputation wasn’t for nothing.

So, hearing people flatter this so-called master inside, a competitive urge rose in Zeng Kemeng’s heart.

Zeng Kemeng walked straight into the temple. ’I’ll see for myself if this "master" is as skilled as my dad.’

When the others saw Zeng Kemeng go in first, they quickly followed her into the temple.

Upon stepping inside, they saw a master in a Daoist robe, sitting on a cattail cushion in the center, earnestly performing a divination for someone.

Not daring to disturb him, they gathered around the side and watched carefully.

They watched as the master finished the reading for the person before him. The person was instantly filled with gratitude, even performing several deep kowtows, treating the master like a deity.

For the next turn, Zeng Kemeng immediately seized the opportunity and went up.

"Master, could you please give me a reading?"

Zeng Kemeng said with a deadpan expression, her look clearly showing her skepticism.

The master before her didn’t seem to mind, but instead studied Zeng Kemeng carefully.

But no one noticed the faint, inscrutable glint that flashed in the depths of his eyes.

After looking at Zeng Kemeng, the master closed his eyes and began to shake the bamboo slips in his hands.

Everyone around them looked on with curiosity, wondering if this master was truly as miraculous as the rumors claimed.

Zeng Kemeng watched the master’s technique, frowning. ’I can’t see anything special about it.’

The master shook the slips a few times, then stopped. He pulled out a single bamboo slip from the center and examined it closely.

Zeng Kemeng suddenly grew a little nervous and asked,

"Master, what is it?"

The master slowly shook his head, his tone tinged with regret as he said,

"Young lady, this is a most unfortunate lot!"

"What? An unfortunate lot? Are you even any good at this?"

Zeng Kemeng’s face filled with displeasure. She felt the master was deliberately cursing her.

But the others present clearly had more faith in the master. They all looked at Zeng Kemeng with expressions of concern.

The master said gravely,

"Young lady, yours is an omen of great misfortune. Within three days, you will meet a disastrous end. Believe it or not!"

Of course, Zeng Kemeng was completely unconvinced. Hearing this only confirmed her suspicion that this master was a charlatan.

’If I were really facing such a calamity,’ she thought, ’my dad would have warned me repeatedly about it long ago.’

In Zeng Kemeng’s heart, this man’s fortune-telling skills could never compare to her father’s.

Could something he could divine possibly escape the notice of Zeng Yiyan, who was famous throughout the Southwest?

So, Zeng Kemeng snorted coldly and said,

"May I ask, Master, what proof do you have for saying that? If you have no proof, then you’re just a fraud!"

The master, however, was in no hurry. He smiled and said slowly,

"Young lady, you want proof? Very well. This is your proof!"

As his words fell, his expression suddenly turned sinister, and he beckoned with his hand.

While everyone was still confused, a dozen menacing figures suddenly emerged from the back of the temple, surrounding everyone inside.

This sudden turn of events shocked everyone present!
