Return of the Celestial King
Chapter 505: 5 Da Li Heads
In the outskirts of the Capital City, inside an abandoned warehouse, the situation was incredibly tense.
The warehouse was rust-spotted and didn’t look like it would attract any attention.
But the men from the Miao Village had taken advantage of that very fact, hiding inside the warehouse.
What they never expected, however, was that the Security Pavilion’s network of informants was so extensive that it didn’t take long to find their den.
Afterward, Kong Lianqing personally led a team, surrounding the abandoned warehouse with lightning speed.
Inside the warehouse, a standoff was underway.
Kong Lianqing stood with a group of Security Pavilion experts, their expressions grim. None of them dared to let their guard down.
They knew these Miao Village masters were incredibly powerful. More importantly, they possessed all sorts of wicked Gu arts. If anyone was careless enough to fall victim, the consequences would be unimaginable.
“Pavilion Master, all five Da Li Heads of the Miao Village are inside. We’ve blocked all the exits. They can’t escape!”
An elite member of the Security Pavilion slowly walked over to report the situation.
Hearing this, Kong Lianqing relaxed considerably and nodded.
However, he was still waiting—waiting for Qin Tuo to arrive.
Inside the warehouse were five oddly dressed men in ethnic minority clothing. These were the five Da Li Heads of the Miao Village, each an expert in Gu arts.
The leading Da Li Head had a disgusting fleshy mole on his face. He was short and ugly.
He spoke coldly, shouting to those outside,
“Pavilion Master Kong, must you insist on a fight to the bitter end?”
His voice was sinister and hoarse, making listeners feel an indescribable sense of unease.
After hearing him, Kong Lianqing just gave a cold laugh and shouted back,
“You’re surrounded. If you know what’s good for you, give up now. It’ll save you from being torn limb from limb!”
But the Da Li Head seemed completely unfazed by the threat, his tone still very calm as he said,
“How about this: just let us go. Once we’ve finished our business, we’ll return to the Miao Village immediately. We won’t cause any other trouble for you or the Security Pavilion. What do you say?”
This was the biggest concession he was willing to make. After he spoke, his eyes grew cold, ready for a major battle at any moment.
However, Kong Lianqing didn’t respond directly. Instead, he slowly asked,
“You bunch from the Miao Village, what exactly are you plotting?”
Kong Lianqing was trying to figure out the five Da Li Heads’ scheme. After all, when several terrifying figures like them gathered, it was inevitable that they were planning something big.
And as the Pavilion Master of the Security Pavilion, he was responsible for the safety of the Capital City.
If something were to happen, he would have a hard time answering to his superiors.
But the Da Li Head couldn’t help but sneer contemptuously.
“This has nothing to do with the Security Pavilion. I advise you not to meddle in others’ affairs!”
Hearing this, Kong Lianqing immediately seized the opportunity to ask,
“If that’s the case, who are you here for?”
The Da Li Head seemed to grow annoyed by the questions and replied coldly,
“Our target is the young man named Qin Tuo!”
Kong Lianqing was stunned by this revelation.
He never imagined the five Da Li Heads of the Miao Village would be targeting Qin Tuo directly.
A deep sense of worry for Qin Tuo welled up inside him.
Although he knew Qin Tuo was very powerful, these five men possessed all kinds of sinister techniques. Being targeted by people like them would make anyone lose sleep at night.
Frowning, Kong Lianqing issued a threat.
“How audacious! Don’t you know Mr. Qin is Elder Hong’s guest of honor? If you kill him, do you really think you’ll leave here alive and return to the Miao Village?”
With Hong Yuanzheng’s name, Kong Lianqing was confident the other party would feel some apprehension.
But to his surprise, even after he said this, the five Da Li Heads remained completely unfazed, as if Hong Yuanzheng’s status meant nothing to them.
Kong Lianqing was a bit surprised, but he couldn’t help but press on.
“Also, why are you targeting Mr. Qin? Is it to get revenge for Yan Hongliang?”
The only thing Kong Lianqing could think of was that the Miao Village men were here in the Capital City to target Qin Tuo as revenge for Yan Hongliang, the Pavilion Master of the Blood Moon Pavilion.
After all, Qin Tuo had helped the Security Pavilion destroy the Blood Moon Pavilion last time.
No matter how overconfident these Miao Village men were, they couldn’t possibly wipe out the Security Pavilion in the Capital City. So, it was likely they were pinning the hatred from that last incident on Qin Tuo’s head, seeking vicious revenge.
However, this was all just Kong Lianqing’s speculation; the truth was not what he imagined.
The leading Da Li Head shook his head, his face full of disdain.
“Heh, ridiculous! That idiot Yan Hongliang got himself killed. He deserved it. We have no intention of avenging him.”
His meaning was clear: this had nothing to do with the Blood Moon Pavilion.
Moreover, there was a hint of arrogance in the Da Li Head’s tone, implying the objective of this operation was not so simple.
Unwilling to give up, Kong Lianqing continued to press him.
“In that case, who sent you?”
The Da Li Head snorted, a cold smile on his face.
“I’ll tell you this much—we were simply hired for a job. You don’t need to know anything else.”
“Oh, hired for a job?”
Kong Lianqing’s brows furrowed deeply as several potential clients came to mind.
He ventured a guess, asking,
“Was it the Liu Family who hired you?”
After asking, Kong Lianqing watched the Da Li Head’s reaction warily from outside the door.
Just as he expected, the Da Li Head fell uncharacteristically silent for a moment, as if the truth had been exposed.
Kong Lianqing sneered inwardly. ‘I must have hit the nail on the head,’ he thought. ‘That’s left him speechless.’
Then, the Da Li Head spoke with great impatience.
“Stop asking so many questions! It has little to do with you anyway, and you’re just asking for unnecessary trouble!”
The Da Li Head was growing angry and now began to threaten Kong Lianqing in return.
But how could Kong Lianqing possibly be afraid of him?
He was surrounded by a large group of Security Pavilion experts, and Qin Tuo was on his way.
Thus, he was brimming with confidence and had no intention of letting these wicked men from the Miao Village go!
