Reverend Insanity : Blood Path
Chapter 108 Bai Ning Bing
Meanwhile, elsewhere on Qing Mao Mountain, Bai Clan Village remained unaware of the caravan’s sudden return.
Although Southern Border was said to possess a hundred thousand mountains, that did not mean every clan could occupy an entire mountain for itself. Qing Mao Mountain alone was divided among three forces: Gu Yue Clan, Xiong Clan, and Bai Clan.
Among the three, the Bai Clan lived on Qing Mao Mountain the longest. Gu Yue Clan and Xiong Clan had arrived later, making Bai Clan the original inhabitants of the mountain in a sense. However, over the centuries, Gu Yue Clan produced many capable Gu Masters while Bai Clan gradually declined. Eventually, Gu Yue Clan surpassed them and became the strongest of the three clans on Qing Mao Mountain.
But that balance had begun to change with the appearance of a genius in the Bai Clan.
“Useless trash! You were once praised as the academy’s greatest genius, yet after all this time, this is all you’ve amounted to?”
Inside Bai Clan Village’s martial arts arena, a white-robed youth stood proudly while another young clansman knelt before him in a miserable state.
The defeated clansman burned with resentment at the humiliation, but he did not dare show it. The difference in strength between them was simply too great. More importantly, the white-robed youth was the adopted son of the Bai Clan’s leader. Someone of his status was not a person an ordinary clansman could afford to offend.
But while he could not deal with Bai Ning Bing himself, that did not mean no one could.
“Young Clan Leader Ning Bing is right. I am incompetent and completely unworthy of being your opponent. However, I heard that a merchant caravan arrived on Qing Mao Mountain recently. There are many powerful Gu Masters among them. Their vice leaders are comparable to our clan elders, while Leader Jia himself is a Rank Four Gu Master comparable to the clan leader. If fighting us isn’t satisfying enough, perhaps the Young Clan Leader could find an opponent among them.”
The young man kept his head lowered and maintained a respectful expression, but inwardly he sneered. Bai Ning Bing, I admit you’re a genius and I can’t afford to provoke you. But just because everyone in Bai Clan Village tolerates you doesn’t mean outsiders will.
“Hahaha! Really? Interesting, very interesting!” Bai Ning Bing’s eyes immediately brightened. “Those vice leaders are all Rank Three Gu Masters, and they’re outsiders, so they won’t avoid fighting me like the clan elders do. The Southern Border’s mountains are filled with poisonous insects, wild beasts, and all kinds of dangers. Anyone who travels with a merchant caravan year after year must have plenty of interesting methods. Fighting them should make this boring life a little more interesting.”
A joyful smile appeared on Bai Ning Bing’s face, almost like a child who had just discovered a fascinating new toy.
For Bai Ning Bing, loneliness was the deepest darkness. Family affection, friendship, and love all seemed fragile and meaningless before the certainty of death. Only the battle was different. Only when someone answered his attacks with equal force, when every mistake carried the possibility of injury or death, could he feel the excitement that briefly filled the emptiness within him.
This lunatic…
The defeated clansman cursed inwardly.
Bai Ning Bing was aloof and cold by nature, yet possessed an unusual passion for battle, especially when facing opponents stronger than himself. Many people in Bai Clan Village simply could not understand why someone blessed with so much would care so little about his own life.
A-grade aptitude, the adopted son of the Bai Clan leader, unmatched appearance, and all the cultivation resources he could need. Any one of these was something countless clansmen might struggle their entire lives without obtaining, yet Bai Ning Bing possessed them all from birth.
In their eyes, he simply did not know how fortunate he was.
“Old man, I didn’t expect you to go back on your word. Didn’t you say you’d agree to my request if I bought Gu from your shop?” Bai Ning Bing stood outside one of the caravan’s shops, his expression impatient. “You’re a Rank Three Gu Master. Are you really going to break your promise?”
“Young man, aren’t you making things difficult for me?” The shopkeeper, Ouyang Gong, looked helplessly at the youth before him. “I’m a merchant. Harmony brings wealth. Why would I go into the martial arts arena and fight you?”
Bai Ning Bing had white hair and blue eyes, while his spotless white robe resembled freshly fallen snow. Combined with his handsome face, his appearance was almost flawless. Unfortunately, the intense fighting spirit in his eyes made it clear that his temperament was nowhere near as peaceful as his appearance suggested.
If I’d known this would happen, I wouldn’t have coaxed him into buying Gu just to earn a few more primeval stones.
Ouyang Gong was already regretting his earlier greed. Ordinarily, there would have been nothing to fear. Bai Ning Bing was only Rank Two upper stage, while Ouyang Gong himself was a Rank Three middle stage Gu Master. The difference between their cultivation levels was substantial.
The problem was Bai Ning Bing’s identity. He was the adopted son of Bai Clan’s leader, only eighteen years old, yet had already reached a cultivation level many Gu Masters could not achieve even in their twenties or thirties. More importantly, he possessed the rare A-grade aptitude. If Ouyang Gong accidentally injured such a genius, he could forget about doing business in Bai Clan Village again.
Ouyang Gong angrily looked toward the surrounding Gu Masters, many of whom belonged to the same caravan as him. Not one showed any intention of helping. Instead, they stood nearby with great interest, clearly enjoying his predicament.
Lin Feng was among them, examining Bai Ning Bing with equal interest.
So this is Little Bai? His temperament really is just like the original story. Always pursuing excitement and the wonders of life.
Lin Feng looked at Bai Ning Bing’s androgynous features and couldn’t help remembering a joke from his previous life.
The taste of a demoness ain’t bad…Of course, a joke was only a joke. Lin Feng had no other thoughts about Bai Ning Bing.
However, another idea suddenly occurred to him. Wait. The Ten Extreme Physiques originated from Ren Zu’s ten children. If their physiques are fundamentally different from ordinary humans, could their blood also possess special properties?
