Reverend Insanity : Blood Path
Chapter 107 Jia Jinsheng Disappeared
After that came Northern Plains.
There was an opportunity there involving the Three Gu Pact that Lin Feng needed to seize ahead of time. If everything went according to plan, he could use it to refine Second Aperture Immortal Gu. Without something of that level, dealing with the increasingly dangerous battles of the future would become extremely difficult.
Of course, taking this opportunity would inevitably affect Fang Yuan’s future development. But Lin Feng could hardly care about preserving the original timeline at the cost of his own opportunities.
He couldn’t exactly kill himself just to keep the plot intact.
At the same time, Jia Fu finally discovered that his younger brother, who had only recently begun showing some promise, had disappeared.
“Find him immediately! Whether he’s alive or dead, I want him found!”
Inside the tent, Jia Fu trembled with rage. A perfectly healthy person had somehow vanished while traveling under his protection. If his father learned that Jia Jinsheng had disappeared during Jia Fu’s caravan journey, his chances of inheriting the position of clan leader would undoubtedly suffer.
The other vice leaders remained silent. None of them knew what had truly happened, so no one was willing to speak carelessly. After all, the Jia Clan’s inheritance struggle was hardly a secret. Who could say whether Jia Jinsheng had genuinely disappeared or whether this was another struggle between brothers?
Seeing their strange expressions, Jia Fu’s anger rose even further. Did he really look like someone who would secretly dispose of his own brother?
Unfortunately, even after searching for an entire day and night, the caravan’s Gu Masters found nothing.
“Reporting to Leader Jia, we’ve searched the area within a hundred li of Xiong Clan Village three times, but we haven’t found any trace of Young Master Jia Jinsheng.” The subordinate spoke cautiously. Seeing Jia Fu’s expression darken further, he hurriedly added, “But… we did discover something.”
Jia Fu suppressed his anger. “What did you find? If you have a clue, bring it forward immediately. Don’t test my patience.”
A short while later, a male Gu Master was brought into the tent. Faced with Jia Fu and so many caravan leaders at once, he was visibly nervous, his body trembling slightly.
“You know something about my brother’s whereabouts?” Jia Fu asked slowly. His voice was calm, but the pressure of a Rank Four Gu Master caused the man’s throat to tighten.
“My lords, I work at the wine shop.” The Gu Master hurriedly cupped his fists toward everyone before explaining what he had witnessed. “That night, I clearly saw Young Master Jia Jinsheng sitting with a young man from Gu Yue Clan. The two of them spoke privately for quite a long time.”
Gu Yue Clan? A young man?
Jia Fu’s brows immediately furrowed. It seemed the caravan’s journey would have to be delayed. He needed to return to Gu Yue Village.
_____
Gu Yue Village
“I heard that when the caravan came this time, someone actually opened a living Gu from the stone gambling den. Apparently, it was a Mudskin Toad.”
Gu Yue Qing Shu’s group had just received a mission from the Internal Affairs Hall and left Gu Yue Village when Gu Yue Yao Hong broke the silence by bringing up one of the more interesting events from the past few days.
“Mudskin Toad? Then it should be a Rank Two Gu. Those are quite popular and can easily sell for seven or eight hundred primeval stones!” Gu Yue Yi Fang immediately became interested, but his excitement quickly turned into frustration. “Which bastard got that lucky? I’ve gone stone gambling every time the caravans came these past few years. Why haven’t I ever opened a Gu worm?”
One of his companions laughed. “Hehehe, Yi Fang, you can’t say that. Didn’t you get a Black Boar Gu last time?”
“Damn it, what Black Boar Gu? That was clearly a Stinky Fat Worm! Are you deliberately trying to piss me off?” Gu Yue Yi Fang clenched his fist and glared at him.
Black Boar Gu and Stinky Fat Worm looked extremely similar. Because of this, some unscrupulous merchants would occasionally pass off Stinky Fat Worm, which was only worth a few dozen primeval stones, as the far more valuable Black Boar Gu and deceive inexperienced Gu Masters.
“Yao Hong, who was lucky enough to obtain a Rank Two Gu from those stones?” Qing Shu suddenly asked.
As the clan leader’s adopted son, obtaining a Rank Two Gu was hardly difficult for him. However, that did not mean he had no curiosity about such an unusual piece of news.
Yao Hong walked closer to Qing Shu, smiling brightly. “What? Even our young clan leader is interested in the little amusements of ordinary people?”
“Don’t call me that.” Qing Shu smiled helplessly and gestured for her to lower her voice.
“He was from the Fang family branch, I think…” Yao Hong placed a finger against her lips as she searched her memory. “Right, Gu Yue Fang Yuan. He’s the older brother of our village’s A-grade genius. You know, the one who used to compose poems when he was young.”
Gu Yue Fang Yuan? Qing Shu was naturally familiar with the name. He had heard about Fang Yuan long ago from his adoptive father. The boy had displayed remarkable intelligence from childhood, and many people had once believed he would possess extraordinary cultivation talent. Unfortunately, the awakening ceremony revealed only C-grade aptitude.
Qing Shu had felt some regret when he first heard the result. He had once thought Fang Yuan might become another outstanding genius capable of contributing greatly to the clan’s future.
“Oh, so it was him.” Qing Shu nodded with a smile. “His luck really is quite good.”
At that moment, Gu Yue Yi Fang suddenly exclaimed, “Group leader, look! Someone’s coming this way. The one leading them… isn’t that Lord Jia Fu?”
Jia Fu? The leader of the Jia Clan caravan? Why was he coming back?
Gu Yue Qing Shu frowned. The caravan had only recently departed, yet Jia Fu was already returning with a group of Gu Masters. Something must have happened.
