Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu
Chapter 267: Regional Wall
Even with the complete inheritance, however, Lin Yan had no intention of immediately cultivating Split Soul Spirit. The method was useful, but its flaws were obvious, and it was still inferior to Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s split soul method. Spectral Soul’s split souls could develop independently for long periods while preserving a much more stable relationship with the main body. There was little reason for Lin Yan to recklessly create clones using an inferior method simply because he had obtained it.
Nor did he urgently need Split Divinity Immortal Gu. Startling Divinity Immortal Gu already supported his current Wisdom Path combat system, while refining another Rank Seven Immortal Gu would consume considerable resources and add another feeding burden. He could wait until his cultivation and resources increased further.
Still, the inheritance was worth far more than Lin Yan had initially expected. Split Divinity and Startling Divinity were two halves of the same Rank Eight inheritance. Once he possessed both Immortal Gu and reconstructed the complete set of killer moves, his Wisdom Path methods would improve considerably.
After storing the inheritance, Lin Yan left the cave and headed directly toward the regional wall separating Western Desert from the Southern Border.
Before long, an enormous crimson wall appeared ahead of him, stretching endlessly across heaven and earth. Turbulent flames surged within it like enormous currents, forming the blazing regional wall separating the two regions.
Immortal killer move — Flame Sovereign’s Assimilation!
Fire Control Immortal Gu, Transform Fire Immortal Gu, Lead Fire Immortal Gu, and Fire Escape Immortal Gu activated together. Lin Yan’s body transformed into a specialized, unrefined crimson flame. Rather than forcing his way through, he used the uniqueness of his Flame Path Immortal Gu to perfectly resonate with and mimic the frequency of the unrefined chaotic fire around him, plunging directly into the regional wall.
This unique killer move finally displayed an advantage that ordinary travel could not bring out. In the outside world, the Green Claw Ghost Winged Lion was faster and required almost no immortal essence from Lin Yan. A regional wall was different. The stronger the cultivation and dao mark accumulation of whoever entered, the greater the suppression they suffered. If Lin Yan forced an Immemorial Desolate Beast through the regional wall, it would suffer severe injuries within a short time.
Lin Yan faced much less difficulty. Instead of fighting the wall’s absolute rejection, his killer move allowed him to temporarily disguise his own refined dao marks as part of the wall’s natural environment. He didn’t gain speed, but it greatly reduced the immense pressure and friction he suffered, preventing his unique Immortal Gu from suffering severe backlash.
Even so, crossing the regional wall created another problem.
Lin Yan turned part of his attention toward his immortal aperture. The moment he began crossing between regions, the heaven and earth qi inside Flame Sovereign Blessed Land became unstable. Earthquakes appeared throughout the blessed land as cracks spread across the ground. Vegetation was damaged, beast groups fled from their territories, and disturbances emerged across all four major regions.
Nearly one hundred thousand Gu Masters had already been mobilized in preparation. They moved between the affected regions, controlling frightened beast groups, repairing damaged mortal formations, and protecting important resource points. The Formation Spirit of Soul Devouring Demon Subduing Formation coordinated their movements across the blessed land, continuously directing manpower toward the areas suffering the greatest disturbances.
The situation, however, remained within Lin Yan’s expectations. He had prepared Fire Vein Immortal Gu precisely because he knew Flame Sovereign Blessed Land would face this problem while crossing regional walls.
At the center of the blessed land, the golden-red Fire Vein Immortal Gu floated in the air. Its body resembled a silkworm covered in fine fiery patterns. As Lin Yan continuously activated it, Fire Veins throughout the immortal aperture responded one after another.
Golden-red lines spread beneath the earth across all four regions. Previously separated Fire Veins slowly connected together, forming an enormous web throughout Flame Sovereign Blessed Land. As the earth shook, the connected Fire Veins helped stabilize the surrounding terrain and guided the disturbed heaven and earth qi through the different regions instead of allowing it to accumulate violently in individual locations.
Under the continuous effect of Fire Vein Immortal Gu, the violent earthquakes soon began to subside.
Some mortal resource points were inevitably damaged, but the major immortal resource points remained stable. For Lin Yan, that was enough. Mortal resources could be restored relatively quickly, while damage to one of his giant resource points could easily cost tens of thousands of immortal essence stones.
This was also why Lin Yan had purposely stopped at peak Rank Six. Had he already advanced to Rank Seven, the suppression he faced while crossing the regional walls would have increased sharply. The disturbance inside his immortal aperture would also become more difficult to control, while the current Rank Six Fire Vein Immortal Gu would struggle to stabilize such a powerful aperture.
Several minutes passed before the crimson flames around Lin Yan gradually thinned. The end of Western Desert’s regional wall had finally appeared.
Beyond it stood another enormous regional wall stretching between heaven and earth. Purple-black miasma churned endlessly within it, forming dense layers of poisonous mist that blocked everything beyond.
The miasma regional wall of the Southern Border.
