Chapter 508 - 507: Sheng Tian Wants to See Yun Zijin

"That’s fine. They’re just remnants, after all. Once you’re done with the clothes, you can just take them. No need to pay."

It was rare to find a stylist she actually liked, and she would need one for many future occasions. Yun Zijin didn’t mind making things a little easier for Han Chun, within reason.

As the saying goes, once you accept a gift, you’re in the giver’s debt.

Since Han Chun was benefiting from her, she would surely prioritize Yun Zijin’s requests in the future.

Upon getting Yun Zijin’s approval, the smile on Han Chun’s face grew much more sincere.

"Let me take your measurements."

Han Chun actually had Yun Zijin’s measurements on file, but some time had passed since they were last taken. To ensure the finished clothes wouldn’t be ill-fitting, Han Chun decided to measure Yun Zijin again.

Han Chun took a soft tape measure from the tool kit she’d brought and measured Yun Zijin with swift, professional movements.

"So, Miss Yun, shall I take this bolt of fabric with me now?"

Since it was a custom order, Han Chun planned to handle everything from design to production purely by hand.

As for the price, Han Chun was confident Yun Zijin would pay without batting an eye, no matter how expensive it was.

"Yes, go ahead and take it. But before you cut the fabric, you’ll need to send the design sketches to me. You can start making it once I’ve confirmed everything is okay. Is that all right with you?"

’For the moon-white Yun Brocade, Yun Zijin felt that styles incorporating elements from Hua Country would be most suitable. She just hoped Han Chun was thinking along the same lines.’

"Of course. Even if you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have sent you the design sketches for confirmation."

’They would never start production before a client confirmed the designs were acceptable.’

’Otherwise, if the client was dissatisfied, not only would it be a poor customer experience, but they would also be out one sample garment. The potential loss wasn’t worth the risk.’

The two of them discussed their ideas a bit more. Once they confirmed they were on the same page, Han Chun left with the bolt of Yun Brocade.

After Han Chun left, Yun Zijin returned to her room for her afternoon nap.

「3:00 PM.」

"Like rain when the clouds hang low, your soft singing stirred my heart..."

Yun Zijin slowly opened her eyes to the sound of her phone’s ringtone.

But the caller ID gave her pause. It was a call from the Dijing district’s J Bureau.

Warily, Yun Zijin swiped to answer the call.

"Hello, this is the J Bureau for the Dijing district. Are you Miss Yun, Yun Zijin?"

"Yes, I am. What is this about?"

’Yun Zijin wracked her brain but couldn’t think of anything she had done recently that would warrant a personal call from the J Bureau.’

"Hello. Do you recall the criminal suspect, Ms. Sheng, whom we took into custody the day before yesterday after you reported her?"

When she heard Sheng Tian’s name, Yun Zijin sat up a little straighter. "I remember. What about her?"

’Surely no one would be that tactless? Sheng Tian had barely been locked up, and someone already wanted to bail her out?’

’That would be a blatant slap in the face to her.’

"The suspect is making a scene, demanding to see you."

The officer on the other end of the line sounded clearly exasperated. Sheng Tian had probably annoyed him until his head was buzzing, and now he had to contact the very person she wanted to see.

Yun Zijin raised an eyebrow at the officer’s words.

"I understand. But... I won’t see her."

’Of course not. She’d gone to great trouble to get that woman locked up; she wasn’t about to go get tainted by her bad luck.’

"Miss Yun, Ms. Sheng said... if you don’t see her, she’ll kill herself."

Even though she’s in the detention center, if someone is truly determined to kill themselves, there are plenty of ways.

Hearing this, Yun Zijin frowned again. "I understand. I’ll get to it when I have time."

’Sheng Tian’s crimes were heinous, but they didn’t warrant a death sentence.’

’Besides, Yun Zijin felt this was likely just Sheng Tian deliberately causing a scene to bait her into a visit.’

’She just didn’t understand why Sheng Tian would go to such unnecessary lengths.’

Yun Zijin was certain Sheng Tian was doing this on purpose, so she didn’t agree immediately.

On the other end of the phone, the officer who called Yun Zijin heard her words and frowned slightly.

’But Yun Zijin was the victim, after all. If she didn’t want to see Sheng Tian, they couldn’t possibly force her to come.’

’But the thought of Sheng Tian’s recent frenzy gave him a massive headache.’

"Alright. But if you do have time, Miss Yun, I’d still advise you to come and see her."

"I understand. If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up."

Yun Zijin really had no desire to see Sheng Tian. If a life weren’t genuinely on the line, she would have just ignored the whole thing.

After hanging up the phone, Yun Zijin’s expression fell.

"Miss, you shouldn’t let other people affect your mood. If you don’t want to go, then don’t."

The maid, who was standing by the window, had overheard the phone call and offered a few words of carefully chosen comfort.

"It’s fine. I won’t let them get a hold on me."

Of course, Yun Zijin wasn’t going to let this one phone call affect her mood.

After getting up and freshening up, she had a few of the freshly made snacks from the kitchen to tide her over, then called Sheng Hao directly.

’Sheng Tian was acting up at the J Bureau, was she? Fine. She would just find someone who could handle her and send them instead.’

If Sheng Tian still wanted to live in Dijing after she got out, the Sheng Family’s attitude would be extremely important.

If the Sheng Family truly adopted a hands-off, indifferent attitude toward her, then it wouldn’t be so easy for Sheng Tian to live in Dijing.

After all, for the past twenty-odd years, Sheng Tian had thrown her weight around, relying on her status as a Sheng Family member. She had offended more than a few people.

Meanwhile, Sheng Hao was at his desk processing documents. When he saw Yun Zijin’s name flash on his phone, a flicker of surprise passed through him.

He answered the call nonetheless. Just then, his assistant walked in with a stack of files. Before the assistant could speak, Sheng Hao waved him away, signaling him to come back later to give his report.

What objection could the assistant have? He simply nodded, backed out of Sheng Hao’s office, and pulled the door shut behind him.

"Miss Yun."

"Mr. Sheng, I just received a call from the J Bureau. An officer told me your sister has been threatening to commit suicide in the detention center, and she’s demanding that I go see her.

I was wondering if you had any thoughts on this, Mr. Sheng?"

Hearing Yun Zijin’s words, Sheng Hao pinched the bridge of his nose. "I understand. You don’t have to worry about her. I’ll take care of it."

Sheng Hao was utterly disgusted with Sheng Tian now. If she weren’t the only girl of her generation in the Sheng Family, her status as a member of a branch family would have made it impossible for her to ever hold the title of ’Young Miss of the Sheng Family’.

He used to think Sheng Tian was just a bit spoiled and headstrong, which, for a member of the Sheng Family, was a trivial flaw.

But he never imagined Sheng Tian could be so insane as to stab Yun Zijin in public.

This had also caused the Sheng Family’s stocks to fall continuously for the past two days. If this kept up, there was no telling how much of the Shengshi Group’s market capitalization would simply evaporate.

"I’ll be waiting for your good news, then, Mr. Sheng."

"It’s no problem. This is what I should be doing. Sheng Tian is the one who did wrong; you shouldn’t have to bear the consequences of her mistakes."

Yun Zijin had made the call for the express purpose of complaining to Sheng Hao about Sheng Tian. Now that her goal was accomplished, she hung up, pleased.

In contrast to Yun Zijin’s good mood, Sheng Hao’s expression turned grim after he hung up the phone.
