Role Stealer: The Script Executioner

Chapter 53: The Slaughterhouse Gate

The transition back into the Tower was cold. There were no neon lights here, no smell of rain, only the sterile, humming silence of the maintenance tunnels. Kai pulled his hood lower, his white hair glowing faintly in the dark. He reached into his jacket and felt the cold, jagged surface of the obsidian mask.

*I’m sorry, Mom. I’m sorry, Elara,* he thought. *But the only way to keep the shack standing is to burn the sky.*

He reached the end of the tunnel—a heavy blast door that led to the 12th Floor’s entry plaza. Through a small, reinforced window, he could see them. Four figures in white, featureless armor, standing perfectly still. They weren’t knights or adventurers. They were ’Cleaners’—high-level combat assets owned by the Corporate Compliance Department.

They were waiting for him.

"Escort, my foot," Kai muttered, his eyes narrowing. "They’re here to bag and tag a glitch."

He didn’t use the main door. Instead, he dropped into a narrow ventilation shaft, his movements fluid and silent. He crawled through the cramped space for what felt like miles, guided by the internal map only he possessed. Finally, he kicked open a grate and dropped into a dark, steam-filled alleyway.

"Who goes there?" a sharp voice barked.

A blade was at his throat before he could even stand up. Kai didn’t flinch. He looked up and saw Kael, his face grim and covered in soot. Sarah and Jax were behind him, looking like they had just crawled out of a war zone.

"It’s me," Kai said, his voice flat.

Kael lowered his sword, his eyes widening as he saw Kai’s face. "You’re early. We didn’t expect you for another two days. And... you look like hell, kid."

"The Company found me on the surface," Kai said, standing up and brushing the dust from his clothes. He pulled the obsidian mask from his pocket and slid it over his face. The moment the mask clicked into place, the air around him seemed to freeze. The tired boy was gone. The Role Stealer had returned. "What’s the status of this floor?"

Sarah stepped forward, her robes torn at the hem. "It’s... it’s not like the others, Kai. There are no forests here. No castles. It’s just this."

She gestured to the world around them.

The 12th Floor was a sprawling, industrial nightmare. The sky was a ceiling of rusted iron, dripping with black oil. Massive, grinding gears turned in the distance, and the air was filled with the deafening sound of saws and hammers. The buildings were made of scrap metal and bone, and the streets were narrow, blood-stained labyrinths.

"They call it ’The Slaughterhouse’," Jax whispered, his hands shaking as he sharpened a dagger. "The monsters here aren’t just animals. They’re... stitched together. Failed experiments from the higher floors that were dumped here to be recycled."

Suddenly, a high-pitched, mechanical shriek echoed from the end of the alley.

A creature emerged from the shadows. It was a mass of bloated flesh and rusted blades, standing three meters tall. It had six mismatched limbs, and its head was a cage containing a screaming, translucent spirit.

"Target Identified," the creature groaned, its voice a chorus of a hundred dying souls. "Fresh meat for the grinder."

"Get back," Kai said, stepping in front of his party.

"Kai, no! That’s a Butcher-Class Elite!" Kael shouted, reaching for his shield. "We need a formation!"

Kai didn’t listen. He moved.

It wasn’t a run; it was a blur of black lightning. He was under the creature’s guard before it could even raise its blades. Kai’s hand, wreathed in a faint, abyssal glow, slammed into the creature’s chest.

*Boom.*

The impact didn’t just push the monster back; it disintegrated the flesh where he struck. Kai didn’t stop. He spun, his leg connecting with the creature’s knee, shattering the bone and metal joints like glass.

The Butcher shrieked, swinging a massive cleaver at Kai’s head.

Kai caught the cleaver with one hand. The metal groaned under his grip, and then, with a casual flick of his wrist, he snapped the massive blade in half. He drove the jagged remnant of the cleaver into the creature’s throat.

The Butcher collapsed, its spirit-cage shattering and releasing a cloud of grey mist.

Kai stood over the corpse, his breath steady, his eyes glowing with a cold, terrifying intensity behind his mask. He looked at his hands, then at his party. They were staring at him with a mixture of awe and horror.

"The Company thinks they can audit me," Kai said, his voice echoing through the industrial ruins. "They think they can threaten my family and then wait for me at the gate like I’m a guest."

He looked up at the rusted iron sky, his gaze piercing through the clouds of soot toward the hidden cameras he knew were watching.

"This floor isn’t a slaughterhouse for us," Kai declared. "It’s a slaughterhouse for them. We’re not climbing this floor. We’re tearing it down."

[Notification: Floor 12 Quest Initiated - ’The Great Recycler’.]

[Objective: Destroy the three ’Processing Plants’ and kill the Floor Manager.]

[Warning: Corporate Cleaners are actively hunting your party.]

"Jax, scout the nearest plant," Kai commanded. "Kael, Sarah, gear up. We’re going to give the Company exactly what they asked for."

"And what’s that?" Sarah asked, her voice trembling.

"A total system failure," Kai replied.
