Role Stealer: The Script Executioner
Chapter 55: The Foreman’s Judgment
The shockwave from the destruction of Processing Plant One was still echoing through the rusted tunnels when the second alarm sounded. This wasn’t the high-pitched wail of the Sentinels; it was a deep, rhythmic thrum that felt like a heartbeat vibrating through the metal floor.
"Something is coming," Jax whispered, his daggers vibrating in his hands. "Something big. The mana density in the air just tripled."
Kai stood at the mouth of the tunnel, his tattered shadow-mantle fluttering in the hot wind. He could feel it too—a massive, bloated presence moving through the industrial smog. It wasn’t the cold, calculated efficiency of the Cleaners. It was the raw, unrestrained authority of a Floor Manager.
"Get behind me," Kai commanded. "Kael, Sarah, don’t interfere unless I tell you. This isn’t a fight you can survive."
"Kai, we’re a team!" Sarah shouted, her staff glowing with a desperate light. "You can’t keep doing this alone!"
"I’m not doing it alone," Kai said, his eyes glowing a lethal blue behind his mask. "I’m doing it as the only person here who knows how to kill a god."
The smog at the end of the corridor parted.
He was a nightmare of industry. Standing four meters tall, "The Foreman" was a grotesque fusion of flesh and machinery. His torso was a massive boiler, venting steam and black smoke. One arm was a giant, rotating saw blade, and the other was a heavy hydraulic claw. His head was a cluster of glowing red lenses, and his voice, when he spoke, sounded like a thousand gears grinding together.
"Asset Kai," The Foreman boomed, his steps shaking the tunnel. "You have disrupted the production cycle. You have destroyed Corporate Property. You have exceeded your narrative quota. The Company has authorized your immediate decommissioning."
"Decommissioning?" Kai laughed, a cold, hollow sound. "You talk like I’m a broken toaster. I’m the guy who built the furnace you’re standing in, you overgrown heap of scrap."
The Foreman didn’t waste time on words. He lunged, his massive saw blade spinning with a deafening shriek. The speed was impossible for a creature of his size.
Kai didn’t dodge. He raised his left hand, and the shadows of the tunnel surged forward, forming a dense, obsidian shield. The saw blade hit the shadow-shield, sending a shower of sparks flying into the dark. The sound was like a scream, metal tearing against the void.
"Pathetic," Kai whispered.
He stepped forward, the shadow-mantle around him expanding until it filled the entire corridor. He struck the Foreman’s boiler-chest with a palm strike that carried the weight of a falling star.
*BOOM.*
The Foreman was sent skidding back, his hydraulic claw tearing deep furrows into the metal floor. Steam hissed from a dozen cracks in his armor.
"Warning," The Foreman’s voice flickered. "Internal Pressure Critical. Authorizing Forbidden Protocol: The Grinder."
The Foreman’s body began to unfold. His chest cavity opened, revealing a swirling vortex of blades and mana-fire. A gravitational pull erupted from his center, dragging everything—scrap metal, pipes, and even the air itself—into the maw of the Grinder.
"Kai! We’re being pulled in!" Sarah screamed, her feet sliding across the floor. Kael slammed his sword into the ground, holding onto the hilt for dear life as he grabbed Sarah’s arm.
Kai stood perfectly still, his boots anchored to the floor by tendrils of darkness. He looked into the heart of the vortex, his expression unreadable behind the mask.
*He’s using a localized gravity well,* Arthur’s mind analyzed. *Standard high-level boss mechanic. But every vortex has a center that doesn’t move. A zero-point.*
"Close your eyes!" Kai shouted to his team.
He didn’t fight the pull. He let it take him.
Kai surged forward, his body becoming a streak of black light as he flew directly into the center of the Foreman’s grinding maw.
"Kai, no!" Kael roared.
Inside the Foreman’s chest, the world was a hurricane of blades. But Kai wasn’t there to fight the blades. He reached out and grabbed the central axis of the Foreman’s core—a glowing, golden gear that pulsed with the floor’s mana.
"Command: Manual Override," Kai whispered, his voice vibrating with a power that transcended the physical. "Sequence: Reverse Polarity."
He twisted the gear.
The Foreman’s entire body spasmed. The gravitational pull didn’t just stop; it inverted. The massive pressure that had been sucking everything in suddenly exploded outward.
The Foreman exploded from the inside out. Gears, pistons, and chunks of scorched flesh rained down in the tunnel. The massive construct collapsed into a heap of smoldering scrap, his red lenses flickering once and then going dark.
Silence returned to the Slaughterhouse.
Kai stood amidst the wreckage, his shadow-mantle slowly receding. He was breathing hard, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth beneath the mask. His F-Rank body was screaming, the strain of the "Architect Commands" tearing at his muscles.

**[Meanwhile, at the Company Headquarters - The Boardroom]**
The massive, circular room was bathed in the cold light of a hundred holographic screens. A group of men and women in pristine suits sat around a glass table, their faces pale as they watched the live feed from Floor 12.
"The Foreman is down," a woman whispered, her hands trembling as she adjusted her glasses. "He destroyed a Level 200 Floor Manager in under three minutes. With an F-Rank body."
"It’s not the body," a man at the head of the table said, his voice cold and sharp. He was the Director of Compliance, the man who had sent the Adjuster to Kai’s home. "He’s using Architect-level permissions. He’s not playing the game; he’s editing it."
"We have to delete the floor," another executive argued. "If he reaches the 13th Floor, he’ll have access to the primary server nodes. We can’t risk him getting that far."
"Deletion is too expensive," the Director replied, his eyes fixed on the screen where Kai was standing over the Foreman’s remains. "And besides... the shareholders want to see how this ends. He’s the most popular ’Asset’ we’ve had in decades. The viewership for the 12th Floor has increased by 400% since he arrived."
"So what do we do?"
"We stop playing fair," the Director said, a cruel smile touching his lips. "If he wants to be the hero, we’ll give him a tragedy. Send the ’Executioner Squad’. And tell them to target his party first. I want to see how well he ’edits’ the script when his friends are being deleted one by one."

**[Back in the Slaughterhouse]**
Kai turned to his party. Kael and Sarah were slowly standing up, looking at him with a mixture of terror and reverence. They had seen him kill a god, but they also saw the way he looked at the wreckage—not with triumph, but with a cold, hollow emptiness.
"Is it over?" Jax asked, his voice shaking.
"No," Kai said, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the flickering system notifications in his vision. "The Company just authorized a ’High-Priority Patch’. They’re not sending managers anymore. They’re sending killers."
He looked at Sarah, and for a split second, his eyes softened.
"We need to move faster," Kai said. "The next plant is at the center of the floor. And this time, they won’t be waiting for us. They’ll be hunting us."
Suddenly, a cold, mechanical voice echoed through the entire floor, a broadcast from the Company itself.
[Announcement to all Assets: The ’Role Stealer’ has been designated as a Global Threat.]
[Bounty: Immediate Ascension to Floor 50 for any party that delivers his head.]
[The hunt is now live.]
Kai looked at the shadows creeping along the walls. He could feel the eyes of every monster and every climber on the floor turning toward them.
"Well," Kai whispered, his hand gripping the obsidian mask. "At least the script isn’t boring anymore."
