Chapter 855: Chapter 855: Profiting from Others’ Misfortune

"What’s wrong? Was it Ms. Lingwen swinging last night?"

Gao Peng looked puzzled, not understanding what ailment she had, yelling on the swing so late at night.

"Cough... It’s none of your business."

Kong Lingwen glared at him angrily, then turned and gave Yang Cheng a death stare.

Yang Cheng, feeling a bit guilty, rubbed his nose. He forgot the garden was quite close to Gao Peng’s room. Luckily, Gao Peng couldn’t see clearly at night, he could only hear the noise.

Seeing her somewhat angry, Gao Peng immediately shut his mouth and buried his head in his breakfast.

But Cheng Ruonan, who had seen many tricks at the Ten Thousand Poisons Sect, instantly understood and gave Yang Cheng an ambiguous smile.

Turns out Yang Cheng was having such fun behind the scenes, she might try swinging next time to feel what it’s like.

Afraid Cheng Ruonan might say something inappropriate, Yang Cheng quickly changed the subject, "After breakfast, I’m going to find Gong Jian and ask him about my father."

"I will go with you."

Several women spoke at once.

Yang Cheng looked at Feng Jiuge and said softly, "Your injury hasn’t healed yet."

Feng Jiuge rotated her shoulder, "It doesn’t matter, although that old villain ran away, he might come back, I’m worried you can’t handle it alone."

Just as she finished speaking, Kong Lingwen quickly said, "I want to go too. I want to personally take revenge for my father."

Yang Cheng nodded in agreement, then Cheng Ruonan and Cheng Qiyue were about to speak up.

He immediately raised his hand to stop them, "You two stay behind, someone must protect the old man."

"Alright, be careful then."

Cheng Ruonan was a bit unwilling but she completely obeyed Yang Cheng’s orders.

After breakfast, Yang Cheng took Kong Lingwen and Feng Jiuge into the car, slowly drove out of Kong Family Villa, heading towards the Gong Family.

On the way, Kong Lingwen took out her phone and dialed a number.

"Is the person still at the Gong Family?"

After the person on the other end spoke a few words, she nodded and hung up.

"Gong Jian hasn’t left. I’ve arranged for someone to keep an eye on him."

Yang Cheng curled his lips into a cold smile, "He sure has the patience."

"It’s not patience; he has nowhere to go. The Gong Family’s foundation is in Zhonghai. If he runs, he’ll lose everything, and since the Family Seal is in your hands, he probably wants to get it back."

Kong Lingwen retorted, having long seen through Gong Jian’s intentions.

Yang Cheng nodded, speeding up the car.

...

Meanwhile, at the Gong Family Villa.

Gong Jian sat in the study, his face dark and terrifying.

On the table was a document, the Gong Family’s financial report over the past few years, the figures were shocking.

The ledgers and contracts taken by Yang Cheng, if made public, would spell doom for the Gong Family.

"Dad, you didn’t sleep at all last night?"

Gong Lin walked in carrying coffee, placing the cup on the table.

"Couldn’t sleep."

Gong Jian rubbed his temples, his eyes full of fatigue.

"How about... we leave Zhonghai?"

Gong Lin hesitated for a moment but finally spoke up.

"Leaving, where can we go? The Gong Family’s foundation is here. If we leave Zhonghai, we’re nothing."

Gong Jian sighed, longing to leave but unwilling.

He stood up, walked to the window, looking at the courtyard outside, "As long as we get the Family Seal back, we still have a chance to turn things around."

Gong Lin was silent for a moment, then asked, "What are you planning to do?"

"I’ve already contacted the Yanjing side."

Gong Jian turned around, a hint of ruthlessness in his eyes, "As long as they make a move, Yang Cheng will be nothing to worry about."

Gong Lin frowned, "Is the Yanjing side... reliable?"

"Not reliable, but we have no other choice now."

Gong Jian sighed, walked to the desk, picked up his phone.

The screen showed a number without a label, he hesitated, but still dialed out.

The phone rang for a long time before it was answered.

"What’s the matter?"

A deep voice from the other end, carrying impatience.

"Sir, I have a favor to ask you."

Gong Jian’s tone became respectful, losing all his usual authority.

"Speak."

"Yang Feng’s son injured Elder Yin and took the Gong Family’s Family Seal, I’m no match for that kid, I’d like to ask you to send someone to help me."

"You’re only telling me such a big thing now? Don’t you think it’s a bit late?"

A cold laugh came from the other side, clearly already aware of the Gong Family’s upheaval, just hadn’t expected Gong Family to be so patient, calling only the next day.

Gong Jian’s face stiffened, he gritted his teeth, "Sir, as long as you can help me this time, I’m willing to give you half of the Gong Family’s assets."

"Half?"

A mocking tone from the other end, "How much assets does your Gong Family even have left? But since you’ve reached out, I can help you, but you must give up seventy percent of your assets."

Gong Jian’s face turned livid, his hand trembling with the phone.

Seventy percent, this was outright robbery!

But he knew he had no choice.

"Fine, I agree."

As soon as he spoke, the call was disconnected, and Gong Jian slumped back into his chair, feeling drained of all strength.

Even though there was help now, his eyes showed no trace of joy.

He knew that dealing with tigers, sooner or later he’d be eaten without a trace, but he had run out of options.

Just then, a commotion suddenly came from downstairs.

Gong Jian frowned, walked to the window, seeing a familiar black car parked at the entrance.

Yang Cheng!

His face turned pale instantly.

"Dad, they’re here!"

Gong Lin’s voice also carried panic.

"Why panic? They wouldn’t dare make a move openly."

Gong Jian took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

Just as they stepped out of the study, there was a loud bang downstairs, followed by the sound of the door being kicked open.

"Gong Jian, come out!"

Yang Cheng’s voice echoed from downstairs, carrying an undeniable pressure.

Gong Jian gritted his teeth and hurried down the stairs.

In the living room, Yang Cheng, Kong Lingwen, and Feng Jiuge stood together, emitting an imposing aura.

Gong Family’s bodyguards were lying on the ground, groaning and unable to get up.

"Yang Cheng, you’re trespassing, are you not afraid I’ll call the police?"

Gong Jian said in a deep voice.

Yang Cheng sneered, "Gong Jian, any one of the things you’ve done is enough to get you a lifetime sentence, are you sure you want to call the police?"

Gong Jian’s face changed; he didn’t say a word.

"I’m not here to waste words with you."

Yang Cheng stepped forward, his eyes sharp as blades, his voice extremely cutting, "Tell me, where’s my father?"

Gong Jian looked into his eyes, feeling a chill in his heart.

He’d seen Yang Cheng many times but never seen such an expression on him, full of killing intent, reminding him of Yin Wujiang.

"Your father’s matter has nothing to do with me."

Gong Jian said, struggling to maintain his composure.

"Gong Jian, don’t play dumb with me."

Yang Cheng moved closer, his aura overpowering.
