Chapter 856: Human Experimentation
Chapter 856: Chapter 856: Human Experimentation
"The reason you killed Uncle Kong was because he knew your secret, but before he was killed, Uncle Kong left a secret message. That was how I learned that my father’s disappearance years ago was connected to you. You collaborated with him on a project, and later, when the project failed, he disappeared."
With each sentence Yang Cheng spoke, he took a step forward.
Gong Jian’s eyes showed a hint of panic, but he maintained a calm facade, gambling that Yang Cheng wouldn’t dare harm the family head of a top Zhonghai estate.
At that moment, urgent footsteps suddenly sounded at the doorway.
The crowd turned to look, only to see Yan Lizhu storming in angrily.
Her hair was disheveled, her eyes swollen, and she was holding a black bag, looking utterly pathetic.
"Why are you back?"
Gong Jian barely finished his sentence before Yan Lizhu’s sharp, ear-piercing voice rang out, like a wraith emerging from hell.
"Gong Jian! Give me back my son!"
"What kind of madness is this?"
Gong Jian frowned unhappily.
Yan Lizhu laughed coldly, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face, and she shouted, "Xiaoyu is dead! Just this morning, he died!"
"What?"
Gong Jian’s expression changed dramatically, "Impossible, he was still..."
"Shut up!"
Yan Lizhu interrupted him, eyes full of venom, her voice hoarse, "It’s all because of you! If you hadn’t locked him up in the little black room, he wouldn’t have ended up like that! You killed my son!"
As she spoke, she opened the bag in her hand and pulled out a knife.
"What are you doing?"
Gong Jian’s face changed, instinctively retreating.
"I want you to pay with your life for Xiaoyu!"
Yan Lizhu screamed and lunged at Gong Jian with the knife.
Gong Jian dodged hastily, but his body was already weak, his movements slow, and he couldn’t dodge in time.
"Thud—"
The knife slashed into Gong Jian’s crotch, and blood spurted out instantly.
"Ah—!"
Gong Jian let out a wretched scream and fell to the ground.
Yan Lizhu didn’t stop, raising the knife again to strike at the same spot.
"Die!"
The knife flashed, blood splattered.
Gong Jian released a piercing scream, curling up into a ball, his crotch a bloody mess.
"Mom, are you insane?"
Gong Lin screamed in surprise, rushing forward to try to snatch the knife from Yan Lizhu, but she had already gone completely mad, turning to slash at Gong Lin.
"Bang!"
Gong Jian pulled the trigger, and with a gunshot, Yan Lizhu’s body stiffened and she slowly fell to the ground.
There was a bloody hole in her chest, blood continuously gushing out, staining her dress red.
"Mom!"
Gong Lin screamed and lunged toward Yan Lizhu, her tears falling in streams.
Yan Lizhu opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but only spat out a mouthful of blood, then tilted her head and died.
Silence engulfed the living room.
Gong Jian lay on the ground, clutching his blood-soaked crotch, his face as pale as paper, his voice so weak it was nearly inaudible, "Help... Help me..."
Yang Cheng watched the scene, his brow slightly furrowed.
Initially, he intended to handle it personally, not expecting Madam Gong to cripple Gong Jian so directly.
Seeing Gong Jian’s face growing paler, Yang Cheng quickly stepped forward, taking out Silver Needle from his pocket, swiftly applying several needles to him to stop the bleeding.
"I can save you now, but you must answer my questions."
Gong Jian lay on the ground, his face as pale as paper, blood still seeping from the wound in his crotch. Even though Yang Cheng had used the Silver Needle to stop the bleeding, the gut-wrenching pain nearly made him faint.
"What... What do you want to know?"
His voice was so weak it could hardly be heard.
Yang Cheng crouched down, asking firmly, "Where is my father, Yang Feng?"
Gong Jian gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead, hesitating whether to speak or not.
Yang Cheng didn’t urge him, rotating the Silver Needle in his fingers, its cold light flickering, his voice frighteningly calm, "I have a hundred ways to make you talk, but in your current state, you’ll barely endure the third one."
Faced with Yang Cheng’s murderous gaze, Gong Jian’s body trembled slightly; he knew Yang Cheng wasn’t bluffing.
This young man was even more ruthless than he had imagined.
"I’ll talk."
Gong Jian closed his eyes, as if finally giving up resistance, "Your dad, I captured him."
Yang Cheng’s eyes narrowed sharply, his fists cracking as he gritted his teeth, barely containing the fury inside.
"Why did you capture him?"
"Because... he knew things he shouldn’t have known."
Gong Jian forced himself to answer despite the pain.
"What things?"
Gong Jian paused for a moment, then slowly spoke, "Years ago, I collaborated with your dad on a project aimed to develop a rejuvenation needle. This injection could make skin firm and smooth, delay aging, with an efficacy far exceeding all current cosmetic medical projects."
"We recruited a bunch of top researchers and invested a lot of money. The research progressed swiftly. We accidentally discovered that to maximize the needle’s effect, a special ’Essence’ needed to be extracted from the human body."
Yang Cheng frowned, "Essence?"
"We called it ’Essence’. It can only be extracted from young people’s bodies, and the extraction process would deal irreversible damage to the human body, ranging from physical weakness and shortened lifespan, to organ failure and instant death."
At this point, Gong Jian seemed to have opened a floodgate, continuing, "To conduct the study, we secretly partnered with a mental institution in Zhonghai, using the institution’s patients for experiments — since no one would pursue matters when these people died."
"Later, when we found the effects to be remarkably good, we started recruiting volunteers from society, offering them money in exchange for donations, giving them a compensation package."
Upon hearing this, Yang Cheng’s expression changed as he asked, "Did my dad participate in the research as well?"
He couldn’t believe that his father, Yang Feng, would partake in such a cruel experiment. Such a kind father, how could he be involved in such a heartless venture?
"Your dad was initially unaware, even investing a lot of money; but when he sensed something was wrong, he demanded the experiment be halted. I was worried he would end up ruining things, so I agreed to his demand."
"And then you found a chance to imprison him?"
Yang Cheng’s fist tightened audibly.
"I originally didn’t intend to make things too absolute, but he was too stubborn. Upon realizing the experiment was still ongoing, he got furious, directly demolishing the laboratory, and even threatened to report us to the police."
Gong Jian sighed, "I, a proud family head of the Gong Family, cannot afford such a scandal, and given the massive financial investments in the experiment, the profits from this project were also immense. Thus, I had no choice but to imprison him."
"Where is he now? Take me to him immediately!"
Yang Cheng roared, suppressing the urge to kill Gong Jian with a punch.
Recalling what Ni Qingyao had once said, it seemed his father had realized Gong Jian’s intention to move against him at the time, and to avoid implicating those around him, he had to sell the company to pay off debts, bearing everything alone.
"Yang Feng is not with me now, I don’t know where he went either."
Gong Jian replied tremblingly.
