Rooming With My Ex-Mate's Hockey Star Brother

Chapter 71: Sadie: A Rogue Named Trey

SADIE

Moonlight spills through the windows, falling across the bed where I’m sitting in my robe, my hands resting on the sheets.

Trey is standing across the room with his shirt off, and I know he’s watching me, but looking him in the eye is proving a little difficult. The light catches on his bare shoulders and the faint sheen on his chest, giving me an excellent view of something I’m already struggling to stop staring at.

When he starts walking toward me, I finally drag my eyes up to his face, which does very little to help.

He’s looking right at me, and he takes his time crossing the room like he knows I’m waiting for him and intends to enjoy every second of it. His shadow moves across the bed and over the robe covering my legs while my fingers curl into the sheets.

There’s something almost predatory about the way he approaches, but I’m having trouble feeling threatened when my biggest complaint is how long he’s taking to get here.

The mattress dips as he climbs onto it, and I watch him come closer until his body cuts off the moonlight. My gaze lifts to his, with nowhere else I particularly want to look.

With his warm breath against my skin, his hand slides into my coily hair. A shiver follows the movement of his fingers, and I close my eyes just before his lips touch my chin. I’d like to hold on to a thought long enough to finish it, but he makes that difficult when he moves toward my ear and then back along my jaw.

He kisses me slowly, leaving a little dampness wherever his mouth has been. Each one makes it harder to remember anything beyond the warmth of his body above mine and the next touch of his mouth.

"Mmm..." I can’t keep the sound in when he presses another soft kiss to my neck. A shudder runs through me, and he gives me time to feel it before moving again.

Everything about him is unhurried, as if he has all night to discover what each touch does to me. The patience only makes me want him closer, even when I’m not sure how much closer he can get.

As he pulls away, my eyes open to find him watching me. His dark hair falls over his forehead, and I follow the sharp lines of his face until my gaze returns to his.

He’s so beautiful.

"You’re so beautiful," he murmurs, taking the words out of my head before I can give them to him.

My lips part to answer, but he kisses me before I find the words. My arms slip around his neck, and I pull him closer, lifting toward him because there’s still too much space between us. He isn’t kissing me with the patience he had a moment ago, and I’m not asking him to. I kiss him back with everything I haven’t managed to say.

The moment his mouth leaves mine, I almost follow it.

Instead, I feel his lips against my jaw, near my ear, then down my neck to my collarbone. He takes his time again, following the opening of my robe until he reaches my stomach.

Without warning, his hands move to my thighs and spread them apart. He lowers his head, and my hips lift at the first brush of his breath against me. I’m already dripping. His tongue flicks over me, and the sudden pleasure makes me squirm, though his grip keeps my thighs where he wants them.

I’ve never felt this before. I want to look at him, but I’m too shy to find out whether he’s watching my face, especially when I can barely control how I’m reacting. Will he take his time with me? I’m still wondering when his mouth moves away and he presses a soft kiss to my inner thigh.

He isn’t rushing. That should help with my nerves, but every kiss lands somewhere other than where I’m waiting for him, and soon I don’t know whether I want more time or less. His breathing grows heavier against my skin, making it harder to stay still until the words I’ve been too shy to say finally come out.

"Please."

My hips buck toward him, and my legs curl around his shoulders as I try to pull him where I need him.

Trey pulls back instead. Cool air reaches my wet skin, and I can still see the thin strand of spit between us while I struggle to find something more useful to say than the word I’ve already given him.

I beg him again, too caught up in what I’m feeling to care how I sound. When his breath brushes me once more, I try to move toward it, but his hands hold my thighs in place.

"Please what?" He looks up at me, waiting, and I can’t seem to make a sentence while he’s watching.

"Please. Please," I moan. "I need—"

"Sadie, wake up."

The voice cuts through mine, and it isn’t Trey’s. I blink, trying to keep his face in focus, but his features begin to change. Suddenly, Lola is between my thighs, looking up at me, and I can’t understand how she got there or where Trey went.

"Sadie, it’s almost ten." The nudge against my shoulder brings me fully awake, though my eyes take a moment to catch up.

Lola’s face slowly comes into focus, and with it comes the awful memory of where I just saw her. I gasp and drag the blanket over my head.

"Good morning, sweetheart." Her chuckle reaches me through the blanket, and after a moment, I lower it just enough to peek out.

She’s standing beside my bed with a toothbrush sticking out of her mouth, looking far too pleased for someone who nearly gave her best friend a heart attack. Seeing her there makes me grateful she wasn’t actually between my legs, but there’s no trace of Trey’s scent in the room either, which feels considerably less fair.

I sit up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes while I try to accept that none of it happened. That would be easier if I weren’t still so wet beneath the blanket.

"Did you sleep well?" Lola asks, still brushing.

I nod. "You?"

"I tried." She shrugs, like a few hours on my bed wasn’t five-star treatment. "What were you dreaming about?"

"Nothing." It comes out much too quickly, and my cheeks warm before she even reacts.

She lifts her brows and wags a finger at me. "That did not sound like nothing. It sounded like—"

"I was being chased." I cut in before she can offer any examples. "By a rogue," I add, because the first lie clearly needed something to make it worse. "It was a nightmare."

"Hmm." She takes the toothbrush out of her mouth, giving me a better view of the smirk she’s barely trying to hide. "Was this rogue named Trey? Because you were moaning his name and begging him to—"

"That is not what happened." I bury my face in my hands before she can finish, then realize how pointless that is.

She heard me. Covering my face won’t make her forget what came out of my mouth while I was asleep, and I doubt she’ll let me forget it either.

Why did I have to dream about Trey this morning, with Lola right here to listen? She has enough material to tease me for weeks.

"No shame, bestie." Her amusement makes it difficult to accept the sentiment. "I didn’t wake you earlier because you seemed like you were enjoying yourself. Robbing you of a dream orgasm when you’re not getting any in real life would’ve been cruel."

"Please, Lola. It’s too early for this."

"Fine, fine." She raises a hand in surrender, though her grin doesn’t go anywhere. "But it clearly wasn’t too early for Trey to—"

Something clatters loudly in the kitchen, cutting her off. We both turn toward the bedroom door, and a second later, Trey’s voice follows.

"Fucking hell!"

I’m out of bed before I’ve worked out what could have made that noise, rushing toward the door.
